Philosopher's Stone and Gold/10 Controversy

I've never questioned my Starter Items and Core Items in my guides, but apparently some people do. No matter how I tried to explain why I prefer my way, all I get is comments like:

"Your argument is invalid."
"As a 1# guide on MobaFire you should teach people to play in the right way."

I get the sub-potential point, but this has been bugging me so I did some calculations on my own to prove my point why my way of starting with Rejuvenation Bead+ Faerie Charm+2x Sight Wards isn't any worse than the more popular 3x Sight Wards + 2

Hello everyone I'm New to mobafire and wanted to...

My name is jimmy. My occupation is the Marine Corps. I have been playing league off and on for the past couple of months but I am getting into it alot more now. I have a live stream up now the link is www.twitch.tv/clutchtilltheend It would be awesome if you watched some of my videos sometime and left me a little feedback and get my name out there a little bit. I usually play with my irl friends from back home. I'm from kentucky but now stationed in North carolina.

Now to tell you a little more about me and league. I main udyr thats why i have the expensive skin for him. I usually mess around with a few different champs off and on so i dont get bored of him. I usually am on around 2100 EST and sometimes before that even but thats when im for sure on every night. I'd love to meet and play with new people and if you are new thats fine to i'm not a very seasoned player but i still give a few good tips. I also have my own vent server if you'd like to talk and get to know each other and fo…

The dive into nubness...

As a new member of MOBAFire...I thought I would introduce myself through my blog. Here I will share my thoughts about League as well as various other things mostly revolving around League. I am still relatively new to League and am only level 25. I understand the meta and stuff but some stuff I still don't understand.

To be brief...I am a college student who enjoys gaming when I have free time. I don't take playing League extremely serious. I do enjoy winning...but at no means do I see myself wanting to compete in the LCS at any point in my life. Moving on to the actual game and stuff now.

The lane that I like to play is Top. I don't know why but I do. Probably because a lot of champions that go Top are tanky and beefy so it allows me to die slower than say a glass cannon type of champion. My first Champion I really liked was Cho'Gath. When I didn't really understand the game and I went against the AI...he would use his Rupture and then you would be knocked up. I thought that was …

Tommy's Taric Guide: A Mobafire Bedtime Story

Let's say that little Tommy makes a Taric guide. Yay for Tommy! After his initial 20 votes, he comes out with a score of 72% and it's displayed as #5 on the list of Taric guides. Not bad for his first guide.

Over the course of a few months, the people who hold the #1 = #4 Taric guides grow disinterested in maintaining their guides. They archive, or they don't update so they expire and get hidden by the freshness filter.

However, all of this time, little Tommy has been updating his guide and maintaining it. And since the other 4 abandoned their guides, he is now #1. Tommy is, of course, elated! He went from being #5 to being #1! And so, as the top rated guide, new players in search of Taric guides would instantly go to his guide as it was top ranked, use it, and vote on it. Before long, Tommy had a 90%!

Then one day a user named SirThroatLaggerJoxVynMawJan3100D dropped by and told little Tommy, "Son, your **** sucks." Little Tommy was upset. Surely he had reached #1 because his guide…

So I kinda promised that I would do this, so I'll pop up the nominations thread soon :3
I didn't find a structured way to do this, so it will be nice and messy for me, but that is my problem, I'll still do it :3
Anyway, here are the categories I have so far:
* Best quote 2013
* Best thread 2013
* Best poster 2013
* Best signature 2013
* Best art shop 2013
* Best review shop 2013
* Peacekeeper 2013
* Best idea 2013
* Best guidewriter 2013
* Most helpful member of 2013
* Funniest member of 2013

That is what I could think of so far, if you feel something is missing or should be changed, post it down below so I can add it/change it :3
Also, I was thinking, due to the low activity in the bananawards, to throw the nomination open for a significant longer time. This would mean that I could open the nomination this week or the next one, and that people have the time till the start of 2014, making it…

What is the point of League anyway?

Somebody asked what the point of playing League was when it wouldn't matter in ten years anyway, if she was just going to be stuck in Silver anyway and not have fun playing.

This was my response to her.

"You have accepted the first important step to the equation. By recognizing that you are not the greatest player, you have acknowledged that there is room to improve and room to learn. You also humble yourself and take away the expectations to perform at a high level because really you know you aren't yet.

Now you can start to have fun with it while you learn. You can take your losses for what they are. Learning experiences, opportunities to improve yourself.

And, you can take your wins in that way too, because you will know that you did well, but you could have done better too.

The thing about League is that it has a pretty huge learning curve, so time invested will almost always pay out in Elo gains if you have the right mindset and try to learn and improve.

What does League mat…

Hey! :3

hey other mobafire summoners *waves hand*

Teemo Forever

I love Teemo. Teemo is an amazingly versatile champion and, if played right, one of the most dangerous top-laners/split-pushers in game. He makes a decent mid and a more than decent bot ranged carry, but top is where Teemo truly shines. Especially post level 6 when it is nearly impossible to gank a skilled Teemo.

That being said, Teemo has one of the highest learning curves in the game (to do well). There are 3 HARD counter champions to Teemo in lane - Zyra, Yorick, and Fiddle. Now, there are ways to beat them, but these 3 champs are extremely difficult to fight against with Teemo. Every other champ is beatable with Teemo. It requires delicate compilation of runes/masteries, but you can do it. Teemo lives!
