10.10 Lee Sin - Detailed Guide

By SeMike
Pros&Cons of this pick

+ Strong 1v1
+ Good protect tool for your carries
+ Powerful early-game
+ Decent mid-game
+ 100% Gank after 6
+ Great for soloing epic jungle camps
+ Huge build variability
+ Strong ganks from river / flank
+ Amazing play-making potential

- High mechanical skill requirement
- Weak agains't a lot of CC
- Weak lane ganks
- Sligthly weak late game scale
Starter items: Hunter's Machete + Refillable potion : Possible alternative is to go Machete + Rejuvenation Bead if you are building tiamat first. (power-farm build) However, you have to keep in mind that you will be missing the additional healing from refillable potion that can sometimes save your *** in fights.

Core build: Warrior + Black Cleaver : These are two very basic Lee Sin items that you wanna build literally every single game. Reason for those is that Lee Sin profits well with AD, CDR and a bit of survivor stats which is just what the doctor ordered for this guy.
You can situationally go blue smite in a very specific scenario which is if you can deal with any enemy champ 1v1 easily AND enemy have a ton of cc that you can dodge (elise E, camille, ziggs)

If enemy has a lot of cc or a lot of AP dmg - Mercury.
If enemy has a lot of AD damage or many ADc champs - Ninja Tabi.
If enemy has even damage that does not neccesary force you to go for either one of the basic two options and you want to high-tempo snowball the game - Mobi Boots
If enemy has even damage that does not neccesary force you to go for either one of the basic two options, and has a lot of slows but no hard CC - Swiftness Boots

Full build:
After core build you usually go for Sterak/Guardian Angel.
There are many items, each for different specific situation, I will describe all of them individually, all of these items are viable option of purchase for Lee Sin, all you have to do is choose properly.

Randuin's Omen - If enemy team a lot of AD damage and atleast one crit dealer. In situation of multiple crit champs in enemy team (gp, crit-adc, yasuo...) you MUST to go for Randuin's Omen. This item is simply over-powered if enemy has multiple critical-strike dmg dealers.

Adaptive Helm - If enemy has a lot of magic damage and some of those champs deal dmg through repetitve abilities (Cass E, Singed Q, Morgana W...)

Spirit Visage - If enemy has a lot of magic damage with non-repetitive abilitiy dmg dealing kits.

Maw of Malmortius - If enemy has a lot of magic damage but you are ahead and need to deal damage until the rest of the game.

Thornmail - If enemy has full ad team, make sure to build it after Randuin or smh. as it does not give you enough HP to survive, it basically only gives armor and reflects dmg (+reduces healing of enemy dmg dealers)

Death's dance After this item got reworked in 10.6 its a very powerful choice if you want to build full damage and hp but no resists what-so-ever, as it puts your resists near 100 each (mathematically the most optimal level

Sterak's gage - Ideal 3rd item if you are building black cleaver 2nd, gives you a ton of HP and base attack damage.

If you are behind or your hyper carry is super-fed, you can opt-out for support items, such as
Zeke's Convergence , Knight's Vow or Locket. If you go for these items, make sure to stand next to your carry to use them properly (tip: you will probably use R as a peel utility to protect ur adc)

Alternative options
You can go for lethality build (Youmuu, Duskblade) if enemy has full squishy team and you feel like 1v9ing and finishing the game before 20min.
You can go zhonya if all you have to do is insec enemy and create chaos in fights / have fun
Early Game ganking & TIps
note: insec play means jumping on a ward / flashing behind your opponent and kicking him towards your team. You can also do that with R->Flash, in that order, if you are quick enough.

With Lee Sin you wanna focus on ganking all your laners in early game. This is a wide topic which deserves it's own guide, which I will be creating soon, or you can also check my twitch channel where I daily stream and explain jungle (make sure to follow so you know when I'm online)

Very brief Lee Sin ganking TLDR:

Lee Sin brings strong skirmishes and 2v2/3v3 situations, against most of the junglers.. Until level 6 you are looking to gank laners who are behind half of the lane, or diving opponent with low hp, keep in mind your second Q is execute damage and can be key in those situations.. This dramatically changes after lvl 6, you suddenly can come from behind the tower / from alcove with insec plays, especially around mid lane, where you can ward jump from raptor's camp wall and kick enemy laner inside of yours, in sutuation like that you always look for W(over-wall)->R->Q->Q->AAs etc.
Lee's kit provides with an amazing counter gank power. If you manage to know about enemy jungler's incomming gank, counter ganking as Lee Sin will work in most of the situations.

If you start solo you can start with W lvl 1 to not get as much dmg from the camp, the kill speed is +- the same
Mid game - looking for plays
You can always look for a nice insec, or rather flank in many situation. With flanking enemy comes one big issue as Lee Sin, you don't wanna have red trinket therefore you don't usually know if you are no wards or not. If you are able to move through jungle and look at nearby enemy at the same time, you can judge if you are being seen or not based on their movement. Overall, you always want to look for flanks from areas which your support has cleared (de-warded) before.
If some of your carries is ahead of the game, you can utilize your Kick simply as protection tool for him. Also keep in mind that W is not a weak shield, and can very often save someone so watch out.
Situational play if one enemy carry is super fed is that you can jump towards him in fight, kick him away (or to your team) and use Q to get back into the fight.
Late game
In late there is usually a hyper carry that deals 5x as much damage as you, unless you are 15/0 and it's not late game yet, just you have full items (jeez.. happens to me all the time). In late unless you find a good flank for kicking someone to your team (do not touch that malphite!), you usually use your R to protect your carries.. If you have additional back-line access in your team, such as mentioned malphite or camille / talon, you can also jump into back line as lee sin's execute damgage is pretty solid even in late game and that might be just what your carry needs to destroy enemy backline.
