Rek'Sai
super super super annoying. definitely a good ban. extremely mobile, her burrow increases ms and vision, and this is a HUGE problem. she can out-sneak your sneak bc she will always she u before u see her. her passive also heals her. she will look to early gank, the only thing u can do is try and countergank. as soon as she gets a lead its over.

Champion Build Guide
hello there! welcome to the guide!
i'm puppy, i'm a former Evelynn otp, who prefers to play champions with maximised potential. mathematically tryharding is my thing.
i'm here to show you how to Evelynn in season 14, because the new changes to items have been pretty huge on her gameplay, and it's a really big improvement for her and other junglers.
this guide is unfinished! will be updated regularly & daily until completion.
WHEN SHOULD I PICK EVELYNN?
Evelynn is actually ideal in a full ad comp. when Evelynn is the only ap champion on the team, the enemy team can't build magic resist ( Jak'Sho, The Protean, Force of Nature, Hollow Radiance, etc). because of her solo carry potential, if the enemy team builds to counter the ad on her team, Evelynn can snowball hard and carry her team into a win.
i wouldn't choose Evelynn if the majority of your team is ap ( Akali, Veigar, Seraphine, Mordekaiser, etc). 3 or more ap champions guarantees that the enemy team will build magic resist, which will pretty much nullify her. either have a backup ad jungler to play ( Bel'Veth, Kindred, Lee Sin, etc), trade lanes with someone or straight up dodge.
DOMINATION - PRIMARY RUNESElectrocute is, objectively, the best keystone to run on Evelynn, hands down. amps her damage up immediately and more often than not i find is vital to securing kills in my ganks. furthermore, Sudden Impact gives magic penetration, which is much needed on Evelynn (which we'll talk about more in the items chapter), Eyeball Collection gives ap, and relentless hunter gives you the required movement speed for your flanks/backdoors, ganks, and fleeing (we'll also talk about the importance of movespeed in the items chapter). |
SORCERY - SECONDARY RUNESas a secondary rune, Sorcery is a very reliable choice, and my personal favourite. Absolute Focus gives extra ap and Gathering Storm does the same. HOWEVER, depending on your elo, the length of your games will change and it may be more rewarding to swap Gathering Storm out for Waterwalking, as evelynn will fight a lot in the river to contest for drakes, baron, and scuttles. |
this is an alternative rune page that you can lock in, with Inspiration as the secondary rune. Magical Footwear and Future's Market are great for gold, which can give evelynn an upper-hand by getting items quicker - this works amazingly with her quick clear; the deadlier she is, the better, and this get-rich-quick strategy is favoured by a lot of players in elos with shorter games. however, this rune page is more punishing and less beginner-friendly than Sorcery if you don't get a good start in early game. |
this is another alternative rune page that you can lock in, with Inspiration as the primary rune. same as before, Magical Footwear and Future's Market are great for gold, which can give evelynn an upper-hand by getting items quicker. however, she loses a lot of damage in favour of gold, and will not be worth it in long games. this is a cheese rune, that is extremely punishing; high risk with high reward. the reward being a quick game where you can stomp on the enemy team with ease. Domination should at the very least be your secondary rune (unless you're literally trolling), and personally i suggest taking Taste of Blood and Eyeball Collection, but feel free to play around with it. |
SMITE - JUNGLING 101considering the fact that you're playing Evelynn jungle, Smite is really the only summoner spell you can take primarily. not taking it is throwing. Gustwalker Hatchling is the ideal jungle pet to take; the extra move speed makes you very mobile, and mobility is vital when playing evelynn. it makes you quicker to gank/counter gank, amazing map control, and lets you dominate the game with your quick response time. on top of this, it makes it much easier to flee fights and escape enemies when a teamfight or 1v1 isn't going your way. this is why you should probably be taking Gustwalker Smite every time. taking Scorchclaw Pup as your jungle pet is viable, too. Scorchclaw Smite is also offensive, slowing enemies and such, but keep in mind that you lose out on the movespeed. movespeed is extremely important for Evelynn, and her playstyle revolves around her mobility. but this is a preferred playstyle for some, and is still not a bad option. |
FLASH - ESCAPING, STEALING, ENGAGINGEvelynn is a squishy assassin. her early game is weak, and Flash is very important for disengaging. along with taking smite, this shouldn't be up for much discussion. on top of this, Flash is great for Evelynn because when losing a game she should be looking to steal objectives by flashing in, smiting, and using Last Caress to get out. she can hard engage/turret dive very easily on low health champions, or if she's got very high damage at that point in the game, by using Flash to get in, deal damage, and get out with her Last Caress. we'll talk more about her combos in the laning phase and mid/late game chapters. |
IGNITE - ALL-IN AGGRESSION, EVELYNN WITH RABIEStaking Evelynn with Ignite is extremely risky. it is a high risk high reward decision, leaning very heavily into her feast or famine playstyle. if you choose to take Ignite, you should wait until you've had a lot of time to learn her and get used to her - wait until you're experienced and comfortable. you should also take Gustwalker Hatchling/ Gustwalker Smite, as this mobility is the only thing that will give her an escape outside of her Last Caress, which sometimes is not enough on its own. also, not taking Flash will weaken your ability to steal objectives, because despite her invisibility if there is a full team on drake or baron, they will inevitably be able to see her and because of how squishy she is, she will die very quickly. you also will not always have Last Caress up in time for these objectives, which leaves her with no escape and an inability to steal. overall, i don't recommend it, it is a cheese strategy that will typically not work in your favour. |
STORMSURGE - HER BEST ITEMStormsurge is going to be the new item you should be rushing on Evelynn. Hextech Rocketbelt is nowhere near as good, and you should avoid building it from here on as it only gives 60 AP. |
SORCERERS SHOES - ...WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU TAKE?the magic pen is ideal, and is objectively the best pair of boots to take for evelynn. you should be taking [sorcerer's shoes] immediately after Stormsurge. |
DEATHCAP - AP BURST DAMAGE.while Stormsurge is the best starting item for evelynn, Rabadon's Deathcap has got to be the best item overall. the only situation in which you wouldn't buy it would be that you can't afford it. if you can, you should try and get Rabadon's Deathcap as soon as possible after Stormsurge and Sorcerer's Shoes, but a lot of the time it is more efficient gold-wise so consider buying Shadowflame first, or maybe even Mejai's Soulstealer if you're particularly fed. |
OKAY, SO... WHAT NOW?
after these items, you'd be surprised how much variety there is in Evelynn's builds, so take some creative liberty! items that are viable on evelynn for season 14 would be (in no particular order) Shadowflame, Mejai's Soulstealer, Lich Bane, Banshee's Veil, and Zhonya's Hourglass. i would typically build Shadowflame Mejai's Soulstealer and Lich Bane together, before deciding if i wanted Banshee's Veil or Zhonya's Hourglass for my final item. Shadowflame Mejai's Soulstealer and Lich Bane are hard-hitting ap items that give her insane on-hit damage, which is sort of the goal as an assassin, which is why they take priority for me over Zhonya's Hourglass and Banshee's Veil.
you should be choosing Zhonya's Hourglass if you're really struggling, otherwise Banshee's Veil should be default (or if there's a lot more cc - Zhonya's Hourglass is best for burst). alternatively, if the game is very rough, you can swap out Mejai's Soulstealer and take both Zhonya's Hourglass and Banshee's Veil, but this would involve a lot of farming as it is very expensive. another good defensive/situational item is Morellonomicon. this is good if the enemy team has a healing-focused support sustaining them through your executes ( Soraka, Yuumi, Milio, etc).
WHAT ABOUT MY OLD ITEMS?
Night Harvester, Liandry's Torment, Hextech Rocketbelt, Cosmic Drive, Nashor's Tooth, and Horizon Focus are items that i would consider no longer viable for season 14, or they are items that were never viable in the first place.
JUNGLE PATHING
Evelynn has one of the fastest jungle clears in the game, which gives her a huge upper hand. she will have a gold/cs/level lead against most jungle matchups and puts her in a great position to contest for scuttle with health - sometimes she doesn't even have to contest because her clear is so far ahead. scuttle is surprisingly a lot more important than people give it credit for, especially new junglers transitioning from lanes. it gives her much needed vision for objectives and EXP needed to hit her level-six powerspike as quick as possible. you should aim to get both scuttles as often as possible, but keep in mind they are not worth dying for.
