Champion Build Guide

[25.14] striptease kog'maw - a new meta?

By BigodeOfLegends
1. Introduction and Credits
Inspired by the amazing creative build from Youtuber Jukes —A Nova Ciência do Jukera

This guide is a tribute and a way to share one of the most creative and fun Kog’Maw support builds I’ve found, inspired by Jukes’ video: “A Nova Ciência do Jukera”.
The build focuses on breaking the meta by turning Kog’Maw into an armor and magic resist shredder with great sustain and team utility, with two distinct playstyles:

Lethal Tempo-based for scaling, shred, and sustain in fights.

Poke/AP-based with Comet for zoning, slows, and poke-heavy pressure.

The goal is to empower your team and control fights in an innovative way, while keeping Kog’Maw’s unique range and on-hit playstyle.
2. Summoner Spells & Runes
Summoner Spells
Lethal Tempo Build: Ignite + Flash (to counter healing and improve kill pressure).

Poke/AP Build: Heal + Flash (for sustain against poke and mobility).

Runes (Lethal Tempo)
Primary (Precision):

Lethal Tempo — maximizes your DPS during fights.

Triumph — sustain and clutch healing on kills.

Legend: Alacrity — increases attack speed, synergizes with your W and on-hit effects.

Last Stand — boosts damage when low HP and even after death, allowing your passive to shred armor and deal damage.

Secondary (Domination or Sorcery):

Magical Footwear (Precision) — saves gold and provides movement speed.

Jack of All Trades — gives bonus damage and sustain, or Cosmic Insight for Summoner Spell cooldown reduction, or Biscuit Delivery against poke lanes.

Runes (Poke/AP Build)
Primary (Sorcery):

Arcane Comet — maximizes poke damage.

Manaflow Band — mana sustain early game.

Celerity — boosts movement speed and damage (helps with post-death pressure).

Scorch or Gathering Storm — early poke or scaling.

Secondary (Precision):

Legend: Haste (ability haste), or Presence of Mind if mana is an issue.

Last Stand — for the powerful passive damage after death.

Stat Shards: Ability haste, movement speed, and bonus health.
3. Item Build
Core Items (Lethal Tempo)
Bloodsong (mythic) — foundation of sustain and damage.

Black Cleaver (if enemy has high armor) or Bloodletter's Curse (if enemy has high magic resist) — choose first based on enemy team comp.

Berserker’s Greaves — attack speed and movement speed.

Build whichever of Black Cleaver or Bloodletter you didn’t pick second.

Runaan’s Hurricane — spreads shred and damage to multiple targets.

Chempunk Chainsword — anti-heal option replacing Mortal Reminder because Black Cleaver blocks its build path.

Situational Alternatives
If your team is heavy AP:

Replace Black Cleaver and Chempunk with Rylai's Crystal Scepter and Imperial Mandate to improve slows and poke synergy.

If your team is heavy AD:

Skip Bloodletter and build tankier or utility items like Frozen Heart, Randuin’s Omen, Force of Nature, or Sundered Sky.

Full AP build:

Boots of Sorcery, Imperial Mandate, Rylai’s, Blackfire Touch, Cosmic Drive, Cryptbloom or Morellonomicon for anti-heal.
4. Early, Mid, Late Game & Positioning

Early Game (Laning Phase)

Playstyle:

At this stage, your main goal is to stay safe and farm, while using your W to poke enemies from a safe distance. Use Q to help shred enemy armor or magic resist if they step too close.

You won’t have many items yet, so avoid extended fights or risky all-ins.

Positioning:
Stay behind your ADC and near your support or frontline if possible. Be aware of enemy engage supports like Leona or Blitzcrank who can punish your positioning with hooks or stuns.

Tips:
Use E sparingly as a slow or peel tool when enemies try to engage or chase your ADC. Don’t waste mana.
If you’re against poke-heavy lanes (e.g., Brand, Xerath), lean towards the poke/AP build and use your Comet + Rylai slow to keep the enemy at bay.

If you die early:
Play even more passively after respawning. Stay behind your minion wave, use bushes and vision to avoid being caught, and focus on scaling. Your real power isn’t in early trades but in teamfights later on.

Mid Game
Playstyle:
Group with your team and focus on applying shred on enemy frontlines with your Black Cleaver / Bloodletter’s Curse + Runaan’s Hurricane.
Use your W for damage and range, and your E as a peel or engage deterrent to slow down divers trying to reach your ADC or yourself.

Positioning:
Stay behind your frontline at all times, ideally in a safe corner or brush, where you can attack enemies without being the main focus.
Use vision control aggressively to spot flankers like Rakan, Pyke, or Thresh before they engage.

Tips:
Communicate with your team when you have your ultimate up to follow up on your damage and shred.
Use Runaan’s to maximize shred on multiple targets in teamfights.

If you die early in fights:
Do not rush back into the fray. Instead, reposition defensively, stay behind your frontline, and use your passive shred and Last Stand rune damage to still threaten enemies. Your team can often clean up thanks to your utility.

Late Game
Playstyle:
You become a core damage dealer and shredder who can turn teamfights with consistent damage over time.
Use your W to maintain maximum range and Q to keep shredding armor or MR.
Focus on kiting — moving between attacks to avoid burst and reposition constantly.

Positioning:
Your positioning is crucial. Never be caught out alone — stay near your frontline or peel supports.
Watch for enemy hard engage combos and keep E ready to slow divers or peel for yourself and your ADC.
Use terrain and vision to your advantage — fight near walls or choke points to limit enemy flank angles.

Tips:
When low HP, rely on Last Stand damage boost to maximize your threat even while near death.
Communicate constantly with your team to time your ultimate and coordinate focus fire on priority targets.

If you die:
Your death isn’t the end — your passive and the Last Stand rune mean you still deal impactful damage for a short time. Stay aware of respawn timers and prep for the next fight with vision and positioning.

Summary: Positioning Key Points Across All Phases
Phase Positioning Summary
Early Stay behind ADC, avoid overextension, respect enemy engage cooldowns, save E for peel.
Mid Group with team, stay behind frontline, maintain vision control, peel or slow divers with E.
Late Maintain max range, kite constantly, use E defensively, stay near peel or frontline, avoid isolation.
Death After dying, stay alert to impact fights with passive damage, reposition defensively until respawn.
5. Matchups Overview
Hard Engage Matchups (Thresh, Leona, Blitzcrank, Nautilus, Pyke)
Very difficult due to heavy CC and burst.

Play extremely safe, use vision, avoid getting hooked or engaged on.

Prefer poke/AP build to poke from afar and stay safe.

Poke Matchups (Xerath, Brand, Vel’Koz, Lux)
Use poke build (Comet, Rylai, Imperial Mandate) to trade effectively.

Focus on slow and chip damage while avoiding all-in attempts.

Your healing reduction and shred still apply.
6. Synergies with ADCs
Best synergies with champions who love extended fights and shred (Aphelios, Jinx, Kog’Maw ADC, Varus).

Strong synergy with poke ADCs (Miss Fortune, Jhin).

Ok or low synergy with hyper-aggressive or mobile ADCs (Tristana, Lucian, Zeri).

Avoid or be cautious with ADCs who rely on burst or engage (Draven, Samira).
7. Final Notes and Credits
This build and playstyle are all about creativity, innovation, and disrupting the meta. It shines especially in coordinated teams or solo queue with good communication.
Huge thanks to Jukes for inspiring this with his deep knowledge and experimental approach to League of Legends builds. Watch his video here for even deeper insight:A Nova Ciência do Jukera — Jukes
