+Insane late game tank shredder
+High outplay potential with Tumble
+Stealth on ultimate (Final Hour)
+True damage on Silver Bolts
+Condemn self-peel / stun
Vayne excels at dueling and kiting, with Silver Bolts dealing % max health true damage — ignoring resistances. Final Hour turns her invisible after Tumble, giving massive playmaking potential in teamfights.
-Extremely low range (550)
-Weak laning phase
-No waveclear without items
-High mechanical floor
-Susceptible to poke
Her short attack range makes laning dangerous against poke lanes. Condemn requires walls for a stun, and she has no built-in waveclear — making her vulnerable to slow pushes and dives.
Essential for every ADC. Flash is non-negotiable on Vayne. Use it to reposition during Final Hour stealth, dodge key skillshots, or Flash + Condemn an enemy into a wall for a crucial stun. Invaluable for outplays and escape.
Primary defensive choice. Barrier provides crucial protection against burst damage from assassins and mages. Excellent for surviving all-ins while you kite back with Tumble and Silver Bolts. Lasts 2 seconds — enough time to proc your third hit and turn the fight.
Situational against heavy CC. Take Cleanse against teams with point-and-click or critical crowd control like Ashe arrow, Leona, Lissandra, or TF gold card. Vayne’s low range makes her vulnerable to lockdown — Cleanse lets you survive and continue kiting.
Alternative to Barrier. Heal provides sustain and a movement speed burst for you and an ally. Best when your support takes Ignite or Exhaust. The MS boost helps Vayne chase for that third Silver Bolt proc or disengage after a short trade.
Aggressive
Defensive
Situational
VS
Barrier Advantage: Stronger personal protection against burst combos. Not affected by healing reduction. Lower cooldown than Heal. Perfect for surviving assassins while you Tumble into stealth and reposition.
Heal Advantage: Affects both you and an ally. Provides movement speed for kiting or chasing. Better in 2v2 bot lane skirmishes. Superior when your support needs the sustain to keep you alive for extended fights.
PASSIVE ABILITY
Night Hunter
Vayne gains 30 Movement Speed when moving toward nearby enemy champions.
This passive defines Vayne's chase and kiting identity. The bonus movement speed only works when moving toward visible enemy champions, making you excellent at running down opponents or rotating to fights. In lane, use it to gap-close for quick trades or to dodge skillshots while moving aggressively. During Final Hour (R), Night Hunter's bonus triples to 90 movement speed, turning you into a terrifying predator. Use this to orb-walk between autos, chase fleeing enemies, or reposition mid-fight. Unlike many ADCs, Vayne has no natural escape besides Tumble — Night Hunter helps you stay on top of targets without burning your Q.
Q
Tumble
Vayne tumbles a short distance and her next basic attack within 6 seconds deals bonus physical damage.
Your most frequently used ability — a short dash that resets your auto-attack timer and empowers your next hit. Use Tumble to dodge skillshots, reposition in fights, or weave in extra damage during trades. The bonus damage (30-50% AD at rank 5) makes your Q-empowered auto hit hard . During Final Hour (R), Tumble grants invisibility for 1 second, turning you into an outplay machine — use it to break enemy targeting, confuse opponents, or drop aggro mid-fight. Advanced technique: Tumble into walls to shorten the roll animation, allowing faster auto-attacks. Max Q second after W for the cooldown reduction (6s → 2s at rank 5) .
W
Silver Bolts
Every 3rd consecutive attack or ability against the same target deals bonus true damage equal to a percentage of their maximum Health.
The reason Vayne shreds tanks. Silver Bolts deals 4-8% of target's maximum Health as bonus true damage (plus flat 20-60 damage) on the third hit, ignoring all resistances . This makes you one of the best duelists against any champion. The third hit also applies if Condemn (E) hits a target with two stacks. Focus the same target in teamfights to proc Silver Bolts repeatedly — swapping targets resets the stack. Max W first in almost every game; the % health true damage is unmatched for early-mid game power. Note: Silver Bolts does NOT work on towers or epic monsters (max 200 damage vs monsters) .
E
Condemn
Vayne fires a massive bolt that knocks back an enemy. If they collide with terrain, they are stunned for 1.5 seconds and take bonus true damage.
Your self-peel and playmaking ability. Condemn pushes an enemy away from you — use it defensively against divers (Hecarim, Rengar, Leona) or aggressively to stun targets against walls. The stun duration (1.5 seconds) is enough to land two free autos and proc Silver Bolts for massive burst. Wall-pinning is the difference between a good and great Vayne player. Learn the terrain on the map — tri-bush corners, dragon/baron pit walls, and tower edges are prime stun spots. Condemn also applies a stack of Silver Bolts, meaning a full combo (auto → Q-auto → Condemn into wall) instantly procs the true damage. Max E last, as the cooldown and damage scale less efficiently than Q or W.
R
Final Hour
Vayne gains bonus Attack Damage, triples Night Hunter's movement speed, and causes Tumble to grant stealth. First takedown extends duration.
Your ultimate transformation into a duelist god. Final Hour grants 25-55 bonus AD for 8-12 seconds . The real power? Tumble becomes a 1-second stealth, letting you reposition invisibly, dodge targeted abilities, and confuse enemies. Activate it before any major fight or skirmish — never hold it too long. The invisibility breaks enemy attack animations and resets tower aggro. During Final Hour, your passive gives 90 movement speed toward enemies, making you almost impossible to kite. The extension mechanic rewards aggression: get a takedown within 1 second of dealing damage, and your ultimate lasts longer. Good Vayne players chain kills with Tumble resets and stealth extensions. Use R to dodge key cooldowns (Caitlyn R, Zed R, Syndra R) by tumbling into invisibility.
ABILITY SEQUENCE
> > >
Max Silver Bolts (W) first — it's your primary damage source for tank shredding, dueling, and extended trades. The % max health true damage scales best with ranks and has no cooldown. Max Tumble (Q) second for the reduced cooldown (6s → 2s) and increased empowered auto damage, which improves your mobility and DPS . Put one point in Condemn (E) at level 2 or 3 and max it last, as its utility (stun/knockback) doesn't benefit much from ranks. Always level Final Hour (R) at 6, 11, and 16. Some players take a second point in Q at level 4 for better laning mobility, but W max remains priority for early all-in power.
Starter Items
Standard ADC starting item providing balanced combat stats for early lane phase. The health and sustain help Vayne survive her weak early game against poke-heavy opponents.
Aggressive starter into triple health potion or refillable. Accelerates core item spike (Blade of the Ruined King) but offers less immediate combat stats than Doran's Blade.
Boots Selection
Primary boot selection maximizing attack speed for Silver Bolts stacking and kiting potential. The attack speed directly enhances Vayne's DPS and Tumble reset efficiency.
New sustain-focused boot option providing omnivamp. Strong into poke lanes where you need extra healing without committing to a full lifesteal item early.
Situational against heavy auto-attack compositions. The damage reduction provides significant survivability when facing multiple AD threats and duelists.
Slow resistance option for kiting-heavy playstyles. Effective against teams with spammable slows that would otherwise prevent you from orb-walking.
Defensive option against magic damage and crowd control heavy teams. The tenacity reduces disable duration, crucial for maintaining Silver Bolts stacks when focused.
Core Items
Foundational on-hit item providing dueling power against all champion types. The current health damage and life steal synergize with Vayne's Silver Bolts for tank shredding.
Phantom hit enabler that makes Silver Bolts proc every two attacks instead of three. This item transforms Vayne's damage output and is essential for her on-hit build path.
Hybrid penetration item granting both armor and magic resist shred on attacks. The stacking defensive stats provide survivability while increasing your damage against durable targets.
Offensive Options
Ultimate-focused item providing attack speed and movement speed after Final Hour. Synergizes with Vayne's extended stealth duration and chase potential.
New high-damage item for on-hit builds. Provides bonus damage to jungle monsters and champions based on missing health, excellent for dueling and objective control.
Energized item for burst and kiting potential. The slow effect helps Vayne chase down targets and land consecutive Silver Bolts procs more reliably.
Alternative damage item for tank-busting scenarios. The true damage proc provides consistent damage output against high-armor targets when building crit.
Mana sustain solution for ability-spamming playstyles. The sheen effect provides burst damage on Tumble-empowered attacks against squishy targets.
Critical damage multiplier for crit-oriented builds. Essential if you opt into crit items over on-hit, amplifying your Tumble empowered attacks significantly.
Defensive & Utility
Hybrid resistances item for late-game durability. The drain effect provides sustain while the resistance amplification synergizes with Terminus for maximum survivability.
Magic resistance solution against AP burst threats. The on-hit magic damage provides mixed damage threat while the movement speed helps kiting.
Critical strike defense against heavy crit compositions. The active slow helps kite melee carries while reducing their critical damage output.
Lifeline item for surviving burst combinations. The shield and bonus lifesteal provide survivability in dive-heavy compositions and assassin matchups.
Anti-burst insurance against assassination threats. The resurrection passive creates windows of opportunity in late-game teamfight scenarios.
CC removal tool for crowd control heavy teams. The active cleanse provides outplay potential against pick-oriented compositions and guarantees survivability.
Niche Selections
Attack speed focused alternative for kiting scenarios. The ghosting passive provides positioning advantages in minion-dense environments and siege situations.
Sustain item for surviving burst damage and extended engagements. The overheal shield provides additional effective health against poke compositions.
Armor penetration solution for armor-stacking opponents. The bonus damage based on health differential makes it efficient against durable frontlines.
Grievous wounds application for healing-reliant compositions. Necessary against sustain-heavy champions and life steal stacking opponents in extended fights.
Lethality-crit hybrid for snowballing advantages. The execute threshold secures kills that might otherwise escape with minimal health remaining.
Crit starter item for alternative build paths. The stacking attack speed provides scaling damage for extended fights and objective control.
Spellblade alternative for dueling-focused playstyles. The stacking movement speed and base attack damage synergize with Tumble resets.
Snowballing lethality item for aggressive players. The stacking AD on takedowns rewards skirmishing and quick rotations after kills.
New on-hit item providing ability haste and bonus damage on every third attack. Effective for players who weave Tumble between auto-attacks frequently.
Above you can see 3 optimized rune pages for Vayne. Lethal Tempo provides extended duel power and synergy with Silver Bolts, Press the Attack amplifies burst damage in short skirmishes. Each page combines optimal primary and secondary trees for different playstyles and durability needs.
For the Precision primary tree, Lethal Tempo grants exceptional attack speed for stacking Silver Bolts and shredding tanks, while Press the Attack boosts follow-up damage after three autos. Triumph provides takedown healing for skirmish resets. Legend: Alacrity delivers essential attack speed for DPS and true damage procs. For the final slot, Coup de Grace helps secure kills against squishy targets, while Cut Down is the superior choice against high-health compositions.
Precision Resolve Domination Inspiration
Precision (Primary) – The core of all Vayne pages. Triumph keeps you alive in multikill scenarios, while Cut Down is generally preferred over Coup de Grace because Vayne excels at killing tanks with Silver Bolts, making Cut Down provide massive value against most team compositions.
Resolve – The optimal secondary tree for dueling and survivability. Conditioning increases Vayne's resistances after 12 minutes, scaling perfectly into mid-game skirmishes. Overgrowth provides permanent bonus health from nearby minion deaths, enhancing her survivability. Bone Plating is a situational choice against heavy burst champions (Renekton, Pantheon), reducing damage from their initial combo.
Domination – Aggressive secondary options for lane dominance and snowball potential. Taste of Blood provides reliable lane sustain whenever you trade with autos or Tumble. Treasure Hunter accelerates your item spikes (BotRK, Guinsoo's) through takedown bonuses. Sudden Impact synergizes perfectly with Tumble's stealth, granting bonus lethality and magic penetration after dodging. Ultimate Hunter reduces Final Hour's cooldown, enabling more frequent assassination windows.
Inspiration – Utility and economy for accelerated power spikes. Cash Back refunds gold on legendary item completion, smoothing out Vayne's expensive build path. Triple Tonic grants ability haste and a skill point at level 9, helping her reach key cooldown thresholds. Cosmic Insight reduces summoner spell and item cooldowns, crucial for Flash+Condemn plays. Legend: Bloodline (stackable) offers lifesteal without building it early, freeing up itemization for damage.
Attack Speed enhances Silver Bolts stacking. Adaptive Force boosts early trading damage. Health Scaling provides late-game durability against burst and poke.
Early Game: Surviving the Lane

Vayne's early game is about survival and calculated trades. Your level 1 is weak compared to most ADCs — focus on last-hitting and avoiding poke. The level 2 spike with Tumble and Condemn gives you outplay potential, but never force extended trades. Use Tumble to dodge skillshots and reposition for last-hits. Silver Bolts requires three hits to activate, so short trades (auto → Q-auto → back off) are your bread and butter. Manage mana carefully — avoid spamming Tumble unnecessarily. Look for Condemn stun opportunities against walls, but save it primarily as a disengage tool. Coordinate with your support for all-ins when the enemy wastes key abilities. Remember your range is short (550), so position cautiously and respect poke lanes.

Mid Game: Rotations and Pick Potential

As laning phase ends, Vayne becomes a duelist and skirmish threat. Your Silver Bolts shreds isolated targets — look for picks in side lanes with your support or jungler. In the current meta with increased rotations, coordinate with your team to secure Faelights and vision control. When rotating, always hug walls for potential Condemn stuns and keep Tumble ready to dodge incoming engages. During skirmishes, pop Final Hour early — the stealth on Tumble lets you reposition invisibly and confuse enemies. Your priority is staying alive while stacking Silver Bolts on the nearest target. Unlike Tristana, you don't take towers quickly — focus on picks and dragon fights instead.

Late Game: Teamfight Execution

With full build and Final Hour, Vayne becomes a tank-shredding hyper-carry. Your positioning is absolutely critical — stay at maximum range and focus the nearest threat while kiting backwards. Save Condemn for self-peel against divers and assassins rather than fishing for stuns. During Final Hour, use Tumble's invisibility to drop aggro and reposition after every few autos. In Baron and Elder Dragon dances, maintain safe positioning and look for flank angles. The extended duration on Final Hour from takedowns allows for multi-kill rampages, but never overextend for resets. You are the primary tank killer — let your team handle backline pressure.

ADC Positioning Fundamentals

Positioning is the cornerstone of Vayne's success. Always maintain maximum attack range from threats while staying within your team's protection zone. Use the "attack move" command to kite effectively — Vayne's short range leaves no room for misclicks. In teamfights, imagine concentric circles around enemies — stay outside engage ranges while dealing consistent Silver Bolts damage. When facing dive compositions, position near teammates with crowd control who can peel for you. Never face-check bushes — use Tumble or wait for vision. Your Condemn should be treated as a precious survival tool, not an initiation unless the stun is guaranteed.

Modern Lane Rotations and Macro

The Season 2026 meta emphasizes dynamic rotations between objectives and lanes — especially with new Role Quest incentives and adjusted objective timers. Vayne is weaker at taking towers than most ADCs, so after laning phase, look to rotate mid or top for picks rather than sieges. Coordinate with your jungler for Faelight control to maintain vision supremacy. When rotating, always push waves completely to deny farm and create timing windows. Pay attention to objective spawn timers — begin rotating 45 seconds before Dragon or Baron spawns to establish vision control. In mid-game, prioritize farming side waves near your team's quadrant to stay safe while maintaining gold income.

Carrying Games as Vayne

To carry games effectively, master your power spike timings. Your first major spike occurs at two items (Yun Tal + core), while three items (adding Infinity Edge or Trinity Force) makes you a true tank threat. Focus on consistent farm throughout the game — aim for 7-8 CS per minute while avoiding overextension. Identify win conditions each game: against tank comps, scale safely and shred frontlines; against assassin comps, save Condemn and Final Hour stealth for survival; against poke comps, use Tumble aggressively to dodge and close gaps. Manage wave states intelligently — freeze near your tower in difficult lanes, slow push when setting up dives. Most importantly, maintain mental fortitude through early game disadvantages and trust your late-game hyper-carry potential.

Conclusion
I appreciate you taking the time to read my third ADC guide on MOBAFire. To help you dominate the bot lane and advance through the ranks, I put a lot of effort into making this guide. Vayne's high-risk, high-reward playstyle — with Tumble resets, Condemn stuns, and Final Hour stealth — has a massive skill ceiling, but once you master her mechanics, she becomes one of the most rewarding champions in the game. Keep in mind that mastering these outplays requires practice. During battles, pay close attention to your positioning, your Silver Bolts timing, and teamfight target selection. Please feel free to leave a comment if you have any queries or ideas for making this guide better. This guide will be updated frequently as patches (including Season 2026 changes) and meta shifts take place. Have fun and good luck on the rift!
