Introduction
Hello and thank YOU for clicking on this guide. I hope that this guide will help you understand the current meta/optimal build for Syndra. My name is RAPMONSTA2 and I create champion guides & stream on Twitch. I love League of Legends & also love to share my knowledge in the ever-changing world on the Summoner's Rift. I've been playing League of Legends since season 3. I am a Mid-lane main and my favorite champions include: Ryze, Corki, Cassiopeia, Anivia, Twisted Fate, Orianna, and Fizz. I had a TON of fun making this guide for YOU. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions, feel free to tune into my Twitch stream and ask in the chat. Enough of the introduction and without further ado, let us get into the guide. |
Cleanse is a MUST when you are vs. Twisted Fate & other heavy-CC champions. Exhaust will help negate all-in potential from assassins, such as Zed, Fizz, Rengar & etc. Heal is a better option than Barrier if you plan on roaming together with your jungler because you can Heal your teammate in a 2v2 fight. Barrier is a better option than Heal in 1v1 situations, but Heal is better than Barrier in 2v2 situations, as you can Heal someone else. Ghost is great if you need to kite and/or gap-close.

Transcendent (Passive): Each of Syndraβs abilities gain an additional effect at max rank. |

Dark Sphere (Q):Syndraβs main damage spell. She conjures a sphere that deals magic damage and stays up for 6 seconds At max rank, Dark Spheres stays up for 8 seconds. |

Force of Will (W):On the first cast, Syndra grabs a Dark Sphere, enemy minion, or a non-epic monster for 5 seconds. On the second cast, Syndra can throw what she grabbed and deal magic damage while slowing any enemies that is hit. At max rank, Transcendent will deal 20% bonus true damage. |

Scatter the Weak (E): Syndra knocks back enemies and stuns those that are knocked back by a Dark Sphere. At max rank, Scatter the Weak has a 50% wider range. |

Unleashed Power (R): Syndra throws all of her Dark Spheres at a target enemy champion. Minimum of 3 spheres and a maximum of 7 spheres. At max rank, Unleashed Power has an increased cast range. |
We max Dark Sphere first because it is our main damage source as well as our main source of wave clear. Second, we max Scatter the Weak, because it is our CC. Lastly, we max Force of Will. Rank up Unleashed Power whenever possible. |

When should I go Sorcerer's Shoes? If the enemy team has not yet built MR yet and for the extra magic penetration. |
When should I go Ninja Tabi? If the enemy team has multiple AD champions and/or if you are against an AD-assassin, such as Zed, Talon, Jayce, Pantheon & etc. |
When should I go Mercury's Treads? If the enemy team has multiple AP champions and/or if you are against an AP-assassin, such as LeBlanc, Katarina, Fizz & etc. |
When should I go Boots of Swiftness? It is rare to go Boots of Swiftness but only if you REALLY NEED the movement speed. |
When should I go Mobility Boots? If you plan to roaming a ton. |
When should I go Ionian Boots of Lucidity? For the additional 10% CDR and the 10% CDR on your Summoner Spells. |
Void Staff When should I go Void Staff? If they enemy team has multiple MR items, then Void Staff is a great choice. |
Liandry's Torment When should I go Liandry's Torment? If the enemy team has multiple champions with high-HP and/or building HP items. The burn from Liandry's Torment will help against champions with a lot of HP. |
Morellonomicon Does the enemy team has HP-healers/HP-sustaining champions? Swain, Vladimir, Soraka, Sona, etc? The Grievous Wounds applied from Morellonomiconβs passive will considerably reduce the healing/HP-sustain. |
Zhonya's Hourglass When should I go Zhonya's Hourglass? Zhonya's Hourglass is great against AD-matchups & burst assassins. Examples would be Zed, Talon, Jayce & Yasuo. There is special case for Fizz. Zhonya's Hourglass will completely negate Fizzβs ult, Chum the Waters. I highly recommend Zhonya's Hourglass against Fizz as you can survive Chum the Waters every time and its makes the Fizz matchup a lot easier. |
Banshee's Veil Are you against an AP-assassin or does the enemy team has multiple AP champions? If so, Banshee's Veil is a great choice. An example where you would go Banshee's Veil would be against LeBlanc mid with a Nidalee jungle. Because of the nerf to Abyssal Mask in Patch 8.6, Banshee's Veil is a better MR item for ranged AP champions than Abyssal Mask. |
Syndra is a very strong dueler and laner. You want to take advantage that she is a lane-bully and look for kills in-lane. Syndra has no major gap-closer except for her Flash, so wave control is extremely important. Pre-6: As Syndra, you are a very strong laner. Pre-6, you should be looking to poke with Q and auto-attacks as much as possible. A common window to land Dark Sphere at a high success rate is when the enemy laner goes for CS. As soon as they walk forward to last hit CS, you should be looking to land your Q Dark Sphere and squeeze in an auto-attack. You MUST abuse this concept in Ranged vs Melee matchups. If you donβt and let melee champions, like Fizz, just free farm without being poked down, they will just straight up kill you at their power points. By autoing/poking them down in-lane & forcing them to prematurely base, you delay their power spike until you have either the raw damage to kill them or have enough resistances to not get 1-shot. Post-6 If you have been poking them down in-lane and constantly harassing them in-lane, there will be times in-lane where the enemy laner will not base when they are in lethal-range. Lethal-range, for those who donβt know, if when a champion is in danger of dying. This is where you can look to combo with Dark Sphere, Force of Will, Scatter the Weak, Dark Sphere, & finally Unleashed Power. Try to squeeze in as many Dark Spheres as possible as the more you have, the more damage your Unleashed Power will do. Roaming: In recent seasons in League of Legends, roaming has been a key part of winning games. Many times, it is just not enough to sit in-lane and win 1v1 to win the game. You need to actively look to roam and impact other lanes. Because Syndra is a lane bully, youβll have many windows to roam. Look to roam when your laner bases and you are relatively healthy and have mana to fight. Also, look to roam with your jungler. This will help you jungler win the jungle matchup. |
