Shaco is a tough matchup and is a typically strong jungler currently, Shaco is worth banning a lot of the time, especially if he is free to play.
If you do get matched against him, do you best to play passively early and outfarm him (which as Kayn isn't very hard).
Kha'Zix
Kha'Zix again is a strong pick who does very well against Kayn, like Shaco, just stay away from him if possible: his early dueling potential is very strong, especially considering how weak Kayn's is. Just, once again, try to outfarm him, which will be easy because of his weak AoE damage, use this to your advantage and look for an invasion on his Raptors/Krugs if you are sure he will not be there.
Kindred
Kindred, by winrate, is one of the best counterpicks to Kayn, she has a lot of kite against him and can easily stop Shadow Assassin's burst with her ult. The main threat from her is the early game, as with any ranged champion, you struggle a lot with trading/fighting.
Just try to outfarm her and take her marked camps before she can. You will find that the best way to survive most hard matchups is by playing safe and outfarming...
Graves
Graves is a tricky one, the typical 'outfarming' strategy doesn't really work with him because he has very good clear too, Graves can also out 1v1 you early, just try to powerfarm level 6, get the correct form for the situation (remember Graves is ranged) and then you may be able to fight him and win.
Master Yi
Master Yi is similar to Kayn in the way that his early game is 'muh', but in the late game, especially if he gets fed enough, will just '1v9'. Try to get your team to help fight him, get him behind on gold/CS early and he won't be a problem unless you begin to throw.
If you cannot decide on what form to go, probably consider Rhaast as being better due to his superior teamfighting potential, just remember to not always go Rhaast if they have a Yi (Refer to form chapter).
Udyr
Udyr is... well, Udyr. He can 1v1 pretty much anybody in the game if he gets close, he can farm decently (although with the meta being max Q his AoE clear is extremely weak) and he can outgank you a lot. This is where the outfarming strategy comes in to play: outfarm him, do not 1v1, like against Kha'Zix, look for potential invasions.
Xin Zhao
Xin Zhao is relatively similar to Udyr in the sense that he has strong (especially early) 1v1 potential, Xin also has pretty good clear. If he invades/counter jungles you well, prepare for a tough game, but unless he is very fed, he lacks the late game power compared to Kayn.
Nocturne
Nocturne is a very strong, yet weak jungler currently. (As a Nocturne 'main', although I don't play him as much now, I can give you a lot of insight on him...)
He has very good dueling potential with his fear and his spellshield both being strong against Kayn - He can easily block your Q/W/R with his W, so try to engage him when that is on cooldown.
Nocturne's Ultimate is the worst part, just assume that if you are seen by the enemy and he ults (Everything goes dark), you will be the target. Take advantage of him by teamfighting a lot: It will force Nocturne to build more of a bruiser type build to survive.
Rengar
Rengar is not as bad as Kha'Zix, no where near. He cannot gank very well pre-6, even then only with his ultimate. His AoE clear isn't great so look for invasions. He can still 1v1 you though in the early game so be very wary of that, especially if he gets to leap out of a bush onto you.
Jax
Jax, Yi and Kayn are all pretty similar in the way that they scale very, very well into the late game. Just do not let Jax get fed or he will '1v9' the entire game. He can 1v1 you and expect to win, but it won't be as much of a straight loss for you as many other 1v1s.
Evelynn
Evelynn in the early game isn't too much of a threat, early game being pre-6. Once she gets level 6 she has strong ganks and a good escape, do bear in mind that she can ult as you burst out and not take any damage.
Fiddlesticks
FIddlesticks isn't too bad of a matchup. He is also very weak currently in the jungle. He lacks much clear speed and gank potential, just try to avoid 1v1s with him early as his CC and range does pose a threat.
Zac
Zac is a very easy matchup for Kayn. Like most tank junglers, he lacks damage and 1v1 potential. Take advantage of this and pick potential fights - Just be wary of roams, especially from champions like Talon, to assist the Zac.
Your good AoE damage also helps you combat Zac's passive because you can take out his slimeball things that revive him.
Pantheon
Pantheon is better in the Toplane currently. His jungle clear isn't great. Just watch out for his early trades as he will win pretty much all of them.
Sejuani
In Solo Queue, Sejuani is considered rather weak - She is. Her CC and tankiness will be hard to tackle in teamfights, especially after her changes.
Like Zac, she lacks 1v1 potential and doesn't have the an amazing clear speed.
Hello there. I'm Loul601, a Kayn main and Silver, yes Silver, player.
First of all I would like to mention my rank...
So, the primary reason for me being silver is because I simply do not play much Ranked anyway, is it my ability to carry (or lack of it)? I don't think so... anyway, I would rather not dwell on that.
One last note I would like to add is that, I am new to this whole guide creation thing, yet not Mobafire itself, hence the fact that I cannot figure out how to do separate builds for Shadow Assassain and Rhaast, I apologise for that. Anyway...
I am a mastery 7 Kayn player and fell in love with the champion as soon as I played him. https://imgur.com/a/rz2UgWz
He is extremely fun to play and offers a diverse and flexible playstyle, but more on that in the Pro/Cons section.
