Early Game, Sona Shield too small given to you or your ADC. Better avoid any hook or u will die by Blitz or enemy ADC
Thresh
Same as Blitz but when Thresh land his hook, they take some time for landing his hook on early game. Manage it for saving your ADC/yourself if Thresh miss hook
Pyke
Maybe his hook not long like Thresh/Blitz, but his damage on early game enough deal some damage when he reach level 2 with stun (this stun honestly too long in early game). Suggest for avoid combo Hook+Stun.
Brand
Most annoying support. He have a lot of burst damage and combined with the cc (Stun and Burn effect). Keep watching Brand combo in laning phase because if not the worst moment maybe apporached you and your ADC. I recommend ban him this patch
Zyra
High Base Damage and CC with a large AOE teamfight ultimate. Try to tell your ADC to avoid Q's & E's from Zyra in the lane phase (and you too, because if she combo with W+E or W+Q, she can deal some damage to you)
Draven
The most champion annyoing when he on late game. Better ban him on ranked
Leona
Leona maybe the only one champion have infinity cc (she have stun, temporary armor, root, and her ult can stun/slowed). I suggest keep your distance with Leona because if she land her E, she can combo with Q and R and help her ADC kill both of you in laning phase
Braum
to be honest, i hate if Braum on enemy side, because his passive is more annyoing to deal with Sona (and fact the most hunt kill for ADC because his passive). also his shiled can block any damage, and your ult too, so he can securing their ADC life. Try comunicate with your teammate when ganking in botlane
Sivir
Duo-ing with Sivir is the best choice for Sona and this patch. You can provide her enough poke to let her farm up as much as she needs, and when you ult for a kill, then she can follow up so well with her ult, giving you both chase potential, and an attack speed buff, which you can use to get more power chords off.
Jhin
When in your team have Jhin, you can poke your enemy with your Hymn of Valor to trigger W Jhin. It make Jhin easier than he must wait enemy land on his trap and combo with W.
Miss Fortune
In fact, Miss Fortune is one of AD Carry so far can combo with Sona Ult. When Sona Ult stunned enemy, Miss Fortune Ult atleast can guarantee kill enemy
Kai'Sa
When in your team have Kai'Sa picked, Sona ult can benefit to Kai'Sa to land her W, but you must play agressive when playing Sona
Ezreal
In lane phase, both you and Ezreal can allow to poke your enemy, which can deal some damage and pressure to the enemy.

Welcome to my 1st Guide. My name Z4ki, player from Singapore. Currently now i'm on Platinum 1 (still climbing xD) and I also playing on Japan server, but unfortunately i'm placing on Silver 1 in Japan server (poor me xD). I've been always a Main Support and I'm here to share my passion and knowledge on the Role since i'm know and playing League of Legends since late Season 7. My top goals now is reaching Diamond in this season (i always ended on Gold/Platinum D:). My Secondary Role is Marksman or ADC with some champion pool like Caitlyn (mostly my main champion if i play ADC), Ashe and Varus. I'm sorry if Table of Content i made simple like this, so dont judge me xD (i still learn BBCode here), also i'll keep update this build if needed.
About Sona
Sona is is generally played as an AP enchanting support (but in another moment like URF she can evolve into AD killer champ), where she pokes, heals, shields, buffs and has an aoe stun to the team, also she easily to learn because her kit easy to learn by newbie, not hard like Ryze or Nidalee. For me about Sona overall a great Support to win most of the teamfights, while Sona might look easy to play, there are things that you will find really interesting in this guide and that you never heard or try before.
In competitive match like LCS, Sona used to be a Marksman than Support, and this Sona ADC introduce by TSM Academy on March 2019, and duo-ing with Taric which this duo most horror than expected, but now this duo abadoned because people nowdays knows that duo counter and change into Tahm Kench in LPL by Suning Team.
PROS
+ Strong Poke + Easy to learn + Great AoE Buff + Massive Ultimate + Great Mobility
Sona is extremely strong and easy to poke in laning phase due to the fact that it doesn't require aiming. Her Kit offers a little bit of everything for your team (shield, heal, damage, extra damage, extra movement speed) and denies the enemies (reduce damage, reduce movement speed, stun). Solid! to sustain during laning phase and win teamfights with your strong Ultimate and buffs later on!
CONST
- Very Squishy - Mana Cost Problem - No built-in escape - Very Slow Scalling Kit
Sona has huge issues with mana cost on early game and tankiness early laning phase. Her skills are not amazingly strong until she gets her very first or two core items. Can easily get picked early on, requires a lot of positioning and knowledge of cooldowns on skills and spells of your team but most importantly enemy team's. Sona also very squishy because her max HP can be one shot by Jungle like Rengar or Marksman like Ezreal
Runes & Summoners Spell
RUNES
KEYSTONE
Kleptomancy: With these, Sona can get free resource after using ability ( Hymn of Valor, Aria of Perseverance and Song of Celerity ) like free gold, pots, elixirs and wards just by hitting enemy champions. If you lucky enough you not need back to base for buying any item like Control Ward or Health Potion, also it's give u speedup on earning gold on early game, so easier for getting 1-2 core items
Magical Footwear: Reason i put this because it saves 300 gold rather buying boots, also it grant more +10 Movement Speed, but need wait for atleast 12 minute for get this free boots. Pick this to Sona also good choice because any takedown (kill or assist) can speed up this boot delivery 45 second faster
Future's Market: I put this because example you'll not really wait buy item like Redemption on 16+ minute, so with this Future's Market, you can buy any items faster, but u know more buying items, more debt limit u got using this Future's Market
Cosmic Insight: Sona abilities average on 7-8 second on early, as a support it's painful when your ADC need heal, your Aria of Perseverance still in cooldown, so she needs all the CDR she can get to spam abilities.
Manaflow Band: Combine with Sorcery's Keystone, Manaflow Band, Sona can restore 1% of mana every 5 seconds and increasing max mana up to 250 mana. it's useful to spamming Sona abilities. Combine with Archangel's Staff the regen is also quite nice later in the game.
Transcendence: When CDR reach 45% (with Cosmic Insight ), Sona can grant more adaptive bonus by 2 AP every ununsued CDR cause max limit (example if Sona have 85% CDR, Sona only have 45% CDR and the remnant CDR 40% will converted to AP), it's good for get AP if your teammate on ganking
SUMMONER SPELLS -
FLASH: Flash is a must pick Spell for champion with no escape mechanism like Sona, also Flash can effective to engange using Crescendo or disengange while ganking.
IGNITE: Good with aggressive supports like Sona, Ignite can provide you massive pressure in laning and that's because it gives you that extra damage and kill potential. The idea of it is to help your ADC with the damage, offer him kills and snowball the lane. Ignite is less useful later game
EXHAUST: Exhaust should be your alternate option. Any reason why i put Exhaust on option 3rd
Are there any enemy champions with good Attack Speed or high burst?
Do both of my solo laners have picked Ignite and team doesn't really needs more?
Is there a kill potential on botlane to pick Ignite over Exhaust?

Gameplay and Tips
For Gameplay itself, you can watch how Doublelift from Team Liquid play Sona Support+Damage below
Tips Playing Sona
> Use your skills in fountain to load once, twice or even maximise your Power Chord. Its free afterall!
> Even if both bolts of Hymn of Valor hit the same enemy they can only be damaged by one. Also, if the target gets out of sight before the projectile hits them they will still be damaged.
> Aria of Perseverance can heal stealthed ally champions without revealing them but the projectile will reveal their position on cast. Also it can heal clones like Wukong's Decoy, LeBlanc's clone, Shaco's clone ect.
> If no one is injured Aria of Perseverance will target the closest allied champion.
> Crescendo has a short travel time, and enemies will be stunned and take damage as soon as it reaches them, but if a target moves out of range as it is cast, the target will be unaffected.
