Threats & Synergies
This guy. His Q-Grasp proc is enough to get you down to half HP. To minimize damage, just get enough to buy the Corruption Potion and a Doran's Shield and return to lane with some sustain.
Ah, the ideal SoloQ champ. This AP monster can just force you out of lane by auto-attacking you twice. Don't try to fight him, he will win. However, If you buy a Spectre's Cowl, you can tank a few more auto attacks.
Well, if you play top lane, you will know how this guy works. But, he has a few exploitable weaknesses. If you wait for your Grasp-Passive proc, you can chunk some of his health and get some back.
This big guy isn't as much of a problem to you as others. His fights are easily read by his meter below his health. Like Vladimir, just back off when it's red. If he starts running at you, W away so he can't dash to you. He only gets a second dash if he deals damage with it.
Again, Her poke is her dash. So just W it. If she pokes you too much, go a dorans shield with corruption potion.
This champ makes the lane her's. If you stay behind minions, you should be fine. Dodge her tentacle attacks and you can survive. If you ask your jungle for a gank, you can possibly win lane.
The poke is insane. If he brings Klepto, he can get his items with ease. If he brings summon aery, Kennen can easily force you out of lane. To counter this, just get a Spectre's Cowl.
Another lane bully, huh? Well, this one has some well-known counter tips. First, the bar below his health is his Q timer. If it is going up, it is on cool down. If it is red, he can cast an empowered Q, which will heal him immensely and deals insane damage.
Whats with these AP champs? Anyway, This guy is hard to deal with. To counter him, buy 3 items. Adaptive helm, Doran's shield, And a corrupting potion. Good luck in lane.
A bad Irelia goes in when you have your W up, but if it is down. make sure you don't get hit by her E, if you do, her Q will have no cooldown for 1 cast.
His spears can poke you out of lane, but so can your Q. If he tries to jump on you, just W it. Then follow up by pressing Q and smacking him a few times.
Remember when he was the best champ in top lane? I certainly do. He isn't a problem at all anymore. Just don't let him get his Q's on you, To do this, press W.
Pfft. This cat is no problem to you if you have your W up. If he tries to jump at you, deny his advances and kill the cat.
This yoshi rider isn't a threat at all. His engage is his Q, only to be followed up by his dash, so dodge the Q and W the dash and you're fine.
Her condemn, (E) pushes her target backwards. If the enemy hits terrain, it is sunned for some time. Combo this with your E to destroy the enemy.
This CC bot can chain some combos together for some kills.
His ult traps targets in terrain. You already know what to do. Combo the enemies into the terrain for easy kills.
Champion Build Guide
I am a top lane main that knows almost every tank top laner. I picked up poppy pretty early and I still use her for a counter pick. I made a few guides in the past about other tank champs that aren't well known like Shen
Anyway, Poppy is a great champion for SoloQ because she can go well with any team comp. She deals alot of damage and soaks up some as well. The only downside is that she gets countered by conqueror champions like Fiora, Renekton and darius. Otherwise, she is a great champ.
Early game monster
Peel for adcs
Cant escape poppy.
No great escape
Her damage falls off
All in or nothing
Not good in meta
Skirmishes are not good for her
Iceborn Gauntlet More cc, tank stats and mana.
Dead Mans Plate Speed, damage and tank stats. The passive can even provide cc.
Spirit Visage Sustain and a great item combined with grasp.
Q Use your Q to clear the backline or minions that are slightly out of your reach.
E Now, you can engage onto an enemy for some damage and E to a close minion for some cheap damage. Make sure the minions are around you.
Poppy's Passive essentially is an empowered auto that drops a shield on the ground that enemies can destroy.
Tips: Use this ranged passive to get some cheap grasp procs. Use this on a low hp minion to get a shield when you're low on hp to outplay the enemies. Even more, this can bait out the enemies to step on the shield.
Your Q is your main source of damage. It slows the enemies so you can combo in some grasp auto attacks for some easy damage.
Tips:Combo this with your passive to chunk out the enemies HP
Max this ability.
This ability is mainly for catching enemies out or for disengaging a fight.
Tips: Great counter-engage against champions like renekton or fiora. Use this after you use your Q to make sure the enemies cant escape you damage.
This deals a low amount of damage, but if it hits terrain, it stuns and deals a bit more damage.
Tips:Use this when the enemies are close to terrain to combo them to death. Great when you have a vayne on your team.
This is great for saving your team.
Tips:You can tap this ability for a 1 second knockback that doesn't YEETthem away.
A great combo you can do is;Auto-E-Q-R(tap)-W. This can deal about 500 damage based your items and level.
As poppy, you don't have any 100-0 combos, so you want to use your passive as much as possible to poke the enemies. A great way to poke is to save your grasp proc for your passive so you deal a lot of damage.
In hard match ups, like Darius or rumble, you want to stay by the caster minions and try not to take unnecessary damage. If the lane gets too hard, just ask your jungle for a gank. If he wont gank you, its fine. Laning phase doesn't last forever.
If you lock-down the carries in the back so their fight is useless.
If they have an Ezreal or Tristana who can slip out easily, just try to poke their front line.
