Introduction

Caitlyn is a great AD carry to learn, and is relatively easy to play. She has good range and some decent spells to help her out. I will teach you a way to play her as a duo-lane bot.

Pros and Cons

Pros
-Long auto-attack range
-Mini-ward
-Super long range on ult
-Decent damage on ult
Cons
-Squishy
-Lack of real escape mechanism
-Ult can be intercepted

Runes

Not much to say, I take mana/5 because Caitlyn runs out of mana sometimes due to overuse of her Q. The Quintessences I take can vary. I like AD runes simply for a bit more damage, however you can swap it for HP if you really need it. You will need the armor pen late game against armor stacking, and attack speed is good for your passive.

Masteries

I take 21/0/9 with one in exhaust because that is one of my summoner spells. Good hands is a big difference, although sometimes not noticeable. 45seconds dead is better than 50.

Summoner Spells

Flash is needed because of Caitlyn's lack of good escape spells.
Exhaust is a good spell as well, for all purposes. 1v1ing, Chasing, Escaping all can we helped by exhaust.
Ignite is also a good pickup if you like that true damage. All personal preference.
Cleanse is not to be scoffed at either. Get out of Ashe arrow for free.

Never get Clarity. That's why you have mp/5 runes. Plus you shouldn't be spamming q in lane either. Revive is good on Pantheon b/c he has Man Drop but you don't have a global. So no.
Rally just don't. Smite is for junglers. Are you one? NO.

Items

Starting Off
Doran's Blade
Early game goals
Doran's Blade x2 Berserker's Greaves B. F. Sword Zeal
Make sure not to rush Bloodthirster even if you really want them kills UNLESS your team is already engaging in 5v5 teamfights (and they probably shouldn't unless you are totally dominating)
Mid game goals
Finish your Bloodthirster and Phantom Dancer to provide heavy sustain in teamfights
Late game goals
Infinity Edge for damage
Last Whisperer for armor pen
Banshee's Veil for fed casters
Are you getting sauced by Trydamere? Try Thornmail instead for Banshee's Veil
Mercury Treads are not a bad option for a heavy CC team.

Skill Priority

R>Q>W>E

Piltover Peacemaker is a skill for good damage early-mid game. It falls off late game, like other similar spells. Try to figure out when you auto-attacks are doing more DPS than Piltover.
Yordle Snap Trap is a great skill for zoning, and when combines with any stun or surpress (Urgot's ult is pretty hard) can snare them for an easy kill for your team. You can also use it to ward baron/dragon.
90 Caliber Net is a mediocre escape spell that can pass through thin walls. It is OK but you should probably get Flash unless you are a PRO at this skill.
Ace in the Hole is a decent ult. Try to ult as soon as you get it in lane, to test damage and such. If you can teamfight at level 11, her ult is so good then because of the flat damage jump.

Early Game

Try to get a support like Taric or Sona, as they both have good CC. Taric is who i'll be talking about though. At level one, you will have you W spell ready. If possible this is an easy trick you can do:

Push the lane a bit, near to their tower, but make sure to have a ward placed already. Taric will try to control the bush nearest to their tower. If the enemy carry comes too far out to farm, have Taric stun them, and then you should start auto-attacking them. Place a trap right behind them, as they will likely run backwards. This sometimes can take 30-50% of the carry's hp depeding on when your passive procs. Most importantly: FARM. Farm all day long. If you are getting zoned really hard (which you probably shouldn't) you can get extra Doran's Blade.

See if you can get mid to TP to a ward you place in the bush and just have them nuke down the support or carry for an easy FB and some gold.

Mid Game

If you happen to pull off a gank like I said previously, have your jungler around to take and EASY dragon. 190g for free. Try to not give up easy kills, and look around the minimap. If your free-farming and suddenly you can see any of the enemy, think: Oh **** they're coming for me. Look at the minimap can save your teammates from getting ganked.

Warding is SUPER-IMPORTANT in mid-game. It can lead to an easy kill on an unsuspecting ammumu, or just save you from a Warwick ult. It can get you dragon, baron, and red/blue buff. If you are going to ward baron, try to place the ward ON TOP of baron. It is almost impossible to hit the ward with oracles, unless you attack baron. This gives your team enough time to react.

Mid-game also revolves around team-fighting. If you are out of position, flash to be in a spot where the anti-carry cannot own you. If akali jumps on you suddenly, or olaf runs at you, E, W and start sniping him until your team jumps onto him. Don't do anything stupid. Just because Xin is at 2 bars, DOES NOT mean you should flash and try to get him when only you and Soraka are alive. HIS TEAM WILL RAPE YOU.

Basically, all you have to do is use common sense and hope your teammates have some too, and pick off out of position carries.

Late Game

With your BT's sustained lifesteal, you should not be getting owned by thornmail, and you will be able to stand in the fight and just take down whomever you please.

Keep teamfighting and if you happen to ace the other team you have 3 options
-Baron
Do Baron if you know for sure that pushing will not net you an inhibitor.
-Push
Do this if you know for sure that you can get the inhibitor and maybe a nexus turret.
-Back
Generally NEVER do this. There are exceptions though. If you're the lone survivor, and you know Jarvan is going to be up soon just take a turret and B.

Know who to focus. Ping the person you want your team going for, and have your AP melt them. You can also ult the person you want focused.

Summary

Caitlyn is an all around BEAST in teamfights and lane dominance. Just keep yourself in position, farm well, and don't do any stupid stuff. If you and your team keep their common sense, I will guarantee that you will win 80%+ games with this build.

Conclusion

Bye-bye. I hope you have thoroughly enjoyed this guide. Please do try to comment and give me feedback. I hope you give Caitlyn one more try.
