Introduction

Hey everyone!! I'm Aceful and this is my one and only first MobaFire guide! Feedback and Tips on how to improve these guides are well appreciated! I'm currently at Silver 1 (I was stuck at bronze very long, but i'm getting up now) I have currently played over 850 ranked games and around 200 of them were with AD carries. Over 20 of them were with Draven and i have 66,7% win ratio with him.

This guide is focusing mostly on bot lane but Draven works also at top or mid against non gap closing and burst champs.

Draven is very exciting and rewarding champion because teamfights aren't easy but you even have to pay attention and catch your axes. But Draven is those champs that if you are good with him, you notice it.

Pros / Cons

Pros
    -Dominates lane very easily
-Very high damage all the game
-Easy to notice when you get better with Draven
    -Global ultimate
Whirling Death
-Kills squishy targets faster than anyone
-Good poke with Spinning Axe if you are a bit ahead in lane

Cons
-Not the easiest ADC to start with
-Hard late game if you are behind
    -Only "escape" abilities are
Blood Rush and Stand Aside
-Vulnerable for CC (like every adc is)

Spells

Flash is almost essential for bot laners because it can save you or grant you with a kill. And when teamfights begin, you can use it to escape and reposition yourself. Ghost might be viable but i wouldn't take it over Flash.

Cleanse is very good because the normal condition is that enemy support has Exhaust and CC. Cleanse is the one who comes and rescues you from it. It removes all CC and even Exhaust + even makes you immune for CC for 3 seconds.

Barrier is my favourite spell for bot lane as it can save you from massive damage and you are able to do outplays. If enemies dive you under turret, with this spell you can get a double kill, if you have enough luck/skill. It also helps you survive longer in teamfights.

Ignite could be a decent spell over Barrier or Cleanse if you want to get really aggressive, but the thing is. Barrier wins Ignite. I wouldn't recommend any other spells than those, they are just no use at bot lane.

Runes

9x Greater Mark of Attack Damage
9x Greater Seal of Armor
9x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage

Greater Mark of Attack Damage because they are the best for ad carries especially for Draven, since the Spinning Axe procs with AD. It helps your last hitting a lot and 79ad + damage of Spinning Axe is scary at level 1 in lane, it might even make your opponent go AFK.
Viable Marks would be Greater Mark Of Armor Penetration, but these runes make your farming very hard until you get used to it and they only start out damaging the Flat AD Marks until levels 4-6 and in my opinion the lane phase is more important for AD carries than mid-late game. The only situation where i would use these Marks would be Taric and Graves lane matchup because they have too much armor to trade with.

Greater Seal of Armor because it makes getting poked easier and you don't simply lose as much health than you would without these Seals, so i wouldn't recommend any others.

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist because their support or jungler usually has some magic damage, Thresh support would be a good example as he makes some crazy damage even without AP items.
If their jungler and support doesn't have any magic damage then the go to Glyphs would be Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist because then you have more MR at late game. Or if theirs matchmaking failed and they have full ad team, you can switch these to Greater Glyph of Armor.

Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage for the same reason as Flat AD Marks.
Viables would be Greater Quintessence of armor penetration or Greater Quintessence of Life Steal if you want to have more passive lane and stay longer at lane and farm.

Masteries

21/9/0. These are pretty good Masteries that i like to use as playing Draven or nearly any other AD carries, but i can't say these are best ones because the new masteries are so fresh at this moment.

You could also take a bit more defensive masteries to get those extra hp and armors, but especially with Draven i like to go full damage to win the lane. Of course defense is important too to win trades, you kinda want to try things out and see what suits for your play style. This is just a good example what to get.

The Utility tree is kinda bad for ad carries as it might give your opponent an advantage if you have less damage or defense than them.

Skill Sequence

ABILITY SEQUENCE

Q > E > W > Q > Q > R > Q > W > Q > W > R > W > W > E > E > R > E > E

The Q Spinning Axe is Draven's deadly basic attack. When you catch it you get another Spinning Axeand it resets your Blood Rush cool down.

The W Blood Rush is Draven's steroid and is used for chasing/escaping and maximizing your DPS.

The E Stand Aside is used to get some time to kill an escaping/charging enemy or you can use it to escape yourself or teammates.

The R Whirling Death is one of funniest ultimates in the game because it deals huge AoE damage and you can even kill steal from another lanes with it :D.

TIPS:

To maximize your DPS in teamfights you have to get 2 Spinning Axe for the fight and use your Blood Rush every time you catch the Spinning Axe to have an unlimited time of the steroid.

Use the ultimate at the beginning of the fight to kill them quicker or at the end of the fight if someone is escaping. Position yourself so you can hit with it to every enemy champ and same also when it returns. It's not good to use the ultimate in the middle of the fight since it lowers your DPS.

E>W>Q combo is good at lane for poking or initiating a fight.

You can use Stand Aside to counter any gap closer that enemies are trying to do. (expect Vi and Malphite ultimate)

When you throw Spinning Axe before it hits and enemy you can click somewhere where you want to walk and then when the axe hits an enemy it then flies to the direction you clicked.

Items

Damage:

Defense:

Bloodthirster should be the first core item as it makes Draven's Spinning Axe a deadly killing machine at early-mid game. After that i like to buy Berserker's Greaves for the movement speed and attack speed. Then i usually buy Zeal for the crit and attack speed

The second core item should be Infinity Edge. It makes you even deadlier with those 250% critical damages. This is the must have item if you want to reach dem 1k crits bro ;).

The third core item should be Phantom Dancer because you always need some extra crit and attack speed.

Now that you have 4 items (3 and boots) you should make a choice do you need defense item now as fifth item or for the last item. For me i usually get Guardian Angel by now as fifth item because at this point i usually get bursted down as soon as teamfight begins because no one protects the ADC at low elo. You can also buy Warmog's Armor, Frozen Mallet or Randuin's Omen if you are not focused that heavily.
The other defense items there are, are situational and i'm not gonna go through them in this guide.

The last item should be Last Whisper. You can also get this item earlier if you notice the enemy team is stacking a lot of armor. You can switch this item to something else if they don't have armor much. The other item could be another defensive item or Mercurial Scimitar. It gives nice amount of AD and if you are being focused with hard CC like Warwick ultimate, this is almost necessary item.

When you have full build don't forget to buy all those dandy potions Elixir of Fortitude etc.

Early Game

The early game for Draven should be quite easy. Just farm and harass the enemies every once in a while and try to look and opportunity to get a kill without dying. Just don't be too aggressive and lose a lot of cs the ideal is 100cs in 10min, it all comes with practice.
Just be aware of the minimap and see what is happening and act fast if you see enemy coming to gank bot.

If you are ahead of your lane you can try to take the tower down and take a free dragon with jungler.

Mid Game

Mid game is all about getting objectives, farming, finishing your core items, adding pressure and so on. At mid game you should have at least 3 core items and boots. Don't forget the farming, it still matters in mid game.

If there is a chance try fighting the enemy team if the positioning favours your team and if you win the fight you should try and get Baron and maybe an Inhibitor
Back to Top

Late Game

If There is an late game in your game. It's all about positioning yourself correctly, winning teamfights, getting objectives, pushing, split pushing and just not screwing up. Nothing more. Winner is who get's Nexus down first not who get's the most kills. So don't Fool around. Because at late game even one mistake can lead your team to Defeat.

Synergies

Draven is very powerful at lane which scares many other ad carries. For Draven i recommend getting a support who has at least some type of hard CC (Stun, Root, Taunt, etc.) Because if your support lands some hard CC on enemies, that's almost a free kill for you or then they burn their every summoner spells... Still worth!. Good examples would be Taric, Leona, Thresh, Rammus.

I wouldn't recommend to play Draven in passive lane for example with Soraka or Sona because in my opinion Draven is the All In kind of AD carry. But if they have very hard poke team composition then its almost necessary to get healing support or you will be burning all your gold for Health Potion

Conclusion

I'm still learning a lot but i decided to share some of this knowledge and make a guide, hope you liked. If you want to learn to be good at ADC i recommend you to take Draven or Vayne as a main champ, then after you learn him/her you can expand your champion pool and then its easier and faster to learn other champs when you get the idea, mechanisms and basics

Make sure to leave some feedback so i know how to customize and improve these guides, since this was my first one. Thanks!
