Champion Build Guide

AP Kai'Sa Top - The Scourge of Toplane

By ElectroBlueGuy
Guide Introduction
Hey, i'm ElectroBlueGuy AKA Stealth in Bush, a low elo player that likes to play champions where they don't belong to, welcome to my second guide!
Why would you play Ap Kai'sa In the Toplane?
Because it's fun.
Toplane rarely matters in games, it's an island and a farmfest, so why not bring a scaling ADC with a unique playstyle?
Heavily inspired by zhongoida(Kai'sa Top) and Snipy OCE(Mid), they both stream on twitch so go give them a watch.
Tips and Tricks for abilites

Second Skin (Passive) Your main damage when W evo comes online, but don't underestimate this even in lane as popping this while the enemy is under 50% health is gonna burst him

Icathian Rain (Q)

With this evolved, isolated damage is still gonna hurt, just not as much as a full AD build.

During laning this is a godsend, you should be able to farm perfectly with this acting as an additional damage source separate from you AA.

It has slightly more range than your AA, so you can use this and then immediatly run away while the missiles are still firing.

Void Seeker (W)

The star of the show, early on it's just a first strike proccer and passive stacker, but when you get to that 2 item powerspike it starts being your main(and mostly only) damage ability, so get comfortable landing this several screens away.

Line up with walls to catch escaping enemies, if they don't see you shooting 99% they won't react in time.

You can buffer it with R to get an instant W when you dash.

Supercharge (E)

Not that important with this build since you won't get to evolve it, but still userful as a dodging and movement skill.

Don't bait yourself into losing a trade, use this only if you need it since you won't be able to attack or use abilities during it.

Killer Instinct (R)

Repositioning, Shielding and Assassinating, a very versatile ability that can get you out of ****ty situations or put your enemies in them.

Don't be afraid to "waste" it during fights, dodging an AOE with this can win you games.

Can be used as a makeshift flash to get over walls if enemies tagged with your passive are close enough to them, get creative!

Lategame shield with this are nothing to joke about, making "run in and get out" situations easier.

You can use Q and W during the dash, making it easy to followup on W hits.

Gameplan
Farm, farm and more farm.
Kai'sa Top is all about getting to that 2 item powerspike as fast as possible so get those minions, first strike procs and plating.
You shouldn't be fighting at all unless you can get first strike and passive procs to bully them out of lane.
Once you get Evolved W you should never be in AA range, play it like a sniper and you'll get kills while being completly safe yourself.
Game Phases

Early Game

You're starting cull for a reason, Q the first three minions and start farming, if you're versus a melee toplaner harass them with autoattacks and abilities and try to proc first strike everytime it's up to get that bonus +9 gold and damage.
Use abilities liberally to get cs or harass since you have biscuits/tear/manaflow, it makes farming way easier since you shouldn't be missing minions with AA + Q.
You shouldn't be fighting/roaming too much but people don't expect passive damage so try to get a cheesy first blood if you can, really speeds up the game.
First recall should be tear + manamune components, second/third should be manamune + crystal, if not farm more and recall less.
Ideally by 11/12 minutes you should have Q evolved, realistically 13/14, when that happens keep farming and pushing waves with Q, threaten the toplaner with Q damage by constantly shoving under turret.

Mid Game

When you start building AP and getting W evolved you're whole gameplay changes.
Stop going near people and just poke them with W repeatedly, then shove waves with Q.
Hover mid constantly and threaten people with W + passive burst damage, use R to save yourself/reposition or to assassinate poked targets.
Get good at hitting W since this build demands precision, 8 seconds of damage downtime is alot for such an easily missable ability, so just don't miss ;).
Help your team with sieging and stay around people with CC, they'll make your job easier, only enter fights when you're sure you're gonna win them, if not stay away and keep poking.

Late Game

Every enemy should be killable in 2/3 W hits, once you reach fullbuild you're gonna be a menace and should be able to win easily, don't get overconfident and keep away if you know you're gonna be killed, no matter how fed a good player can kill you easily if you misposition.
Matchups
I'll add matchup information in the matchup section when i get to lane against them, but it mostly shouldn't matter since your objective is farming and not winning lane/killing them.
No tank toplane? Am i gonna get flamed?
Of course lmao, and your teammates might have a point since you're useless until you get your W evo, but once you do teamfights shouldn't matter anymore with all the poke and assassinations you're getting, even bruisers and tanks can't escape it with the % missing health passive damage.
But yes if you can't farm and can't scale it will be a 4v5.
