Well, actually... that whole story describing which items/masteries/runes I suggest you getting and why to get them...R.I.P. Was for the Season 2 build I suggest, containing the removed Madred's and truth is there is hardly time to update that whole thing.

Now, as about Athene's Unholy Grail...it provides nice magic resist buff, huge mana regen boost, coolodown reduction...but the MAIN reason I get this item, is that, by the time you have Manamune transformed into Muramana and assuming you have... ~~2,000 mana points, that's a 120 additional on-hit, and Warwick really needs any on-hit he can get...though, since mana vanishes in the blink-of-an-eye in fights, when you have it triggered, I buy Athene's Unholy Grail, because of it's passive, with which you recover 12% of your maximum mana with every kill or assist you score. Now that passive, combined with Sunfire cape, which besides the other stats it boosts, it gives you a decent permanent aoe damage in fights, (Even if you don't even touch an enemy, your sunfire cape will give you the assist). That means +12% of your maximum mana from ANY enemy that dies close to you.
Through all those three items (Muramana-Sunfire cape-Athene's Unholy grail), in fights you will constantly have about ~76% of your maximum mana, the moment you STILL have muramana active. That means the UNSTABLE on-hit from Muramana, turns to a MASSIVE and STABLE on-hit which is around 100. Better than the on-hit Madred's used to provide to an average 2,500 health enemy. Also, those three items (Sunfire cape- Athene's-Muramana) turn you into a high armor/magic resist/health target, resolve any mana problems you may have, provide you with nice AD boost(Muramana) AND magic damage, making your damage hard to counter (Enemies building armor will take tons of your magic damage-enemies building magic resist will still take high physical damage), provides you also valuable cooldown reduction. In the end, that +60 Ap the grail gives you, is really something you don't mind wasting your money for. Though, it will make your Q hurt and heal you for a slightly higher ammount, which is not bad.

Anyway, hope you understood the the idea behind that whole combination of Muramana-Sunfire cape-Unholy Grail and you see it's not that bad. ;)

OMG!
I have my own Warwick build guide but... THIS STORY I LIKE IT SO MUCH. Man realy nice way to show how to get everything like items runes and masteries.
Yes you need to make this guide in two big parts with story and with main things like in selection of items you should made real items and everything with your explenacion and then after you finish items you should set story for players that want to read it. Everyone is not like me XD

You could do more work on BBcodes and columns. In google you can find nice guide how to make guide ^^

Everything is good. You clear Warwick problem with mana but still dont see point in building Athene's Unholy Grail because Warwick dont really need ability power. you can only buy that mana regen on start and sell it later. I thing that you will get more power if you buy Randuin's Omen instead of Sunfire Aegis. That magic damage around you dont really help if you dnot have Frozen Mallet and yeah Frozen Hearth is greate idea. This is all from me for now XD

Fell free to check my Warwick God Mode Twisted Treeline (Damagewick and Tankywick) to see how I done things. Maybe you get some good ideas. Also guide is just old 1 month. Leave comment pls I need it. Ty :))

:)

It's nice to hear it worked for one more game. Though, work on enjoying the build the more you can, since it's rumored that Riot is removing Madred's Bloodrazor, which is a core and really important item for the build and runes I suggest. If what I hear, that they are replacing Madred's Bloodrazor with that Blade of the Ruined King, is true, then getting that item won't be making as perfect synergy as Madred's Bloodrazor do with magic pen and on-hit, since the on-hit of the ruined blade is physical damage and it's effectiveness lowers sensibly as the target loses health. Plus no attack speed.

Anyway, I guess I will have to update the build, but I'm pretty sure no item will make it up perfectly, for Madred's loss.

Also, an alternative I would like to suggest, for when you have enemies that depend on auto attacks and critical hits, you can purchase Thornmail instead of Frozen Heart, since it will work as an on-hit, when enemy attacks you, equal to 30% of the deal before your resistances as magic damage, and since you work magic pen, you will be able to ACTUALLY deal TRUE damage back and watch your enemy die fast in the effort to kill you, while he barely damages YOU.

;)

After finishing the strory, I had my worries on whether the reader will get bored, since the guide is not presented straight out, but through a story. It's nice it turned out to not be any dissapointing. As about the build, try it out, yes. The magic pen runes might need a while to purchase, if you don't have them already, but they definately shine up Warwick's potential.

That story was really creative, and the build itself looks pretty nice. Im going to test this out! :)
