Id say Morellonomicon would be a decent replacement for elder lizard early. It give CD, mana regen for sustain, ap and an anti sustain passive (which her plants proc). You could also experiment with Lich Bane, though while plants do proc it, its usefulness is probably a little more dubious (though you can lay down a seed fast while auto attacking for a near zero cast time lich bane hit).

Speaking about the rest of the build, its pretty much all good. None of the other items lost any of their viability for Zyra, so if you want to run a "plant on hit" build, you can follow everything in this guide save Spirit of the Elder Lizard.

Last time I played on twisted treeline I was called a hacker just because they didn't know plants can proc the true dmg of the jungle item. :D

I was a little sceptical at first sight for the spirit of the Elder Lizard but...
I always played her as a supp before, and here comes the moment in ranked where I have to mid... So I tried this build.
And it worked perfectly well, before teamfights their team was already mid-life because of 2-3 pokes with plants! Thanks for the build!

Awesome Guide man tried it out thats so much fun :) But did you thought about adding Iceborn Gauntlet instead of Rylai´s against a heavy ad team this worked way better for me

I am a huge fan of Zyra and I got to say the inclusion of Spirit of the Elder Lizard to this character was an absolute Stroke of genius.

The difference it has made to mid laning is just fantastic on its own, as soon as I get it onto her, I am practically dominating it, picking up kills much faster and generally giving opponents a harder time of getting any kills on minions and slowing their leveling drastically.

This is my main guild for her now and deserving of my UP VOTE :D

I have a question about the Banner of Command: LoL Wiki aswell as Surrender at 20 state that it has no real effect on the damage of the plants. This would drop its usefulness quite a lot, no? I'm not 100% on last info, so maybe something changed...

Great guide, if a little short. After reading through it, I was wondering about the viability of using this build to jungle with Zyra? Obviously it would require some thought on the team comp, but I thought it would at least be something fun to discuss. Thoughts?

I really love this build and guide.
This build is helping me go trough even the champions I had issues with before!
I had seriously no idea how to win against an Ahri, with my personal favorite mid-laner Brand (As she counters him like crazy),
And no other mid-laners are quite my style. Now I don't die every time i'm back in lane to her burst combo.
The build will even make last-hitting with basic-atacks no problem!
Also this build will carry like every teamfight because you can even do some sustained magic damage to burst tanky champions down.
I really have to thank you for uploading this guide and I also want to thank rhaqen! (Watched some of your games which are amazing)
