oh poor Rakan, we can make him suffer with Resolve and Relic Shield while black shielding yourself and rooting him, making is lane engages extremely weak and almost suicidal.
Alistar
Alistar hates you, because you block his CC and make his combo suicidal and because he doesnt do enough magic damage to destroy it. Go all out on poke and he'll wish he dodged.
Braum
You can predict Braum's passive stun, which can make you do early black shields to be effective. Buying Demonic Embrace will chomp out a bit of his tankiness, so going a Liandry Build is effective.
Soraka
Rushing out Oblivion Orb will significally improve your lane experience. In terms of the champions, it's a easy lane, altough an experienced summoner will be harder due to Soraka's zoning abilities.
Taric
He's quite easy to fight against, and his stun is quite slow and should be easy to black shield it. Only bummer is his ultimate which can make your all ins useless, but oh well.
Tahm Kench
Tahm can't really do much. His shield doesn't count as health so your W will still do amazing damage and you can root him if he over extends for a little lick. The only problem his is ability to move around with R along with his ADC (or another enemy).
Sett
Sett in support role is quite cheesy, but it works. However he need to get real close to even engage, so keeping a finger trigger on black shield is helpfull. If you don't feel skilled in your black shields, go Resolve Rune Set and Relic Shield.
Seraphine
Black Shield (E) her Beat Drop (E) and buy boots early if you can't dodge properly her High Notes (Q). You can also E her R,
Gragas
Mister Graggy here doesn't have much potential against you unless he build AP and Everfrost. For precaution, the Resolve Rune Set might come in handy just for the occasion he pounces his belly on you and smacks you with a barrel.
Nami
Either you can bully her with poke or be passive and build Moonstone. Still, always try to have the upper hand in teamfights.
Yuumi
This little creature isn't that hard to fight, but it sure is annoying. Rushing Oblivion Orb is very good and you can either go the Moonstone in passive lanes or Imperial Mandate for agressive.
Sona
you normally win lane, but Sona shines out in mid to lategame. Seeing this, use the Moonstone Build and go Scaling Runes to become a "scuffed" Sona, but with much more damage and a bit less utility.
Shen
Shen has one CC ability, so your job only focuses on one ability. The only scary part about him is his W which can block AA's and his ultimate, but a good root can stop him if he's nearby.
Lux
Lux might seem your clone, but she is not, because her burst potential is huge. Seeing most Lux summoners love to Ult after Q and E, black shield early and go either Poke oriented or Scale oriented.
Leona
An engage champion, my favorite. Go Resolve Rune Set and Relic Shield, while trying to use black shield after she uses E and root her cuz she's a free root if you get the shield before her Q.
Janna
Janna is a hard lane if the summoner knows what he is doing. using your ultimate while she's around is a death sentence, seeing she can knock you up with tornados to makes gaps and user her own ultimate to push you back. Only use your ultimate after using your black shield on yourself, and another way to counter this is to use Zhonya's Hourglass to not get hit by her CC from the Tornado and ultimate.
Xerath
It isn't a bad matchup, but it goes on to prove your dodging skills. Buying potions and warding bushes in lane and help in survivability and not getting cheesed by his combo.
Lulu
She has lot o poke range and her shields are very potent. Seeing this, you can go supportive and play a pasisive lane or try to control the lane with W.
Brand
The problem about Brand is his damage and ability to easily destroy your black shield due to his magic oriented damage on every ability. I suggest going the Resolve Rune Set and go Relic Shield, while also playing passive in lane to move on to midgame with no problems.
Blitzcrank
Ban Worthy. Even if you can black shield his hook, sometimes you won't, and because Blitzcrank is coinflip champion that will either get a kill or not, I rather not take my chances. Still, if you are unfortunate enough to get this in lane, go Resolve Rune Set and Relic Shield so you don't insta die (as easily).
Nautilus
Nautilus is a scary champion to fight against, so going Resolve and getting Relic Shield for better sustain in lane. Not only that, but his ultimate is very easy to predict, for it has a delay, so it will be easy to cast black shield.
Karma
Ah Karma the speed demon. Even if you black shield her root build up, she can just Q it to remove the shield. Focus on trying to get roots on her cuz she quite squishy, and all in with ultimate if you know she has already used her ultimate before your deadly engage.
Pantheon
Honestly, Pantheon is like Pyke. Yes you can block his CC, but not his damage, so Resolve Rune set and Relic Shield it is!
Galio
Galio is a tanky anti magic champion, and that's bad. Going the Resolve Rune Set and Relic Shield is the best solution for this.
Neeko
While Neeko is not hard to fight, it sure is annoying and can give you bad habits, seeing your root and be counterplayed when behind your minions, hers actually enhances when going through waves, making her root the same duration of yours. Honestly, she's just you, but better (except the whole black shield ability).
Rell
Rell itself isnt normally the problem. Oh am I kidding, having three abilities that do AoE CC and a Q that destroys shield (cause that was needed for her kit) sounds like an extreme counter to your black shield. But fear not, for you don't need to engage, as long as you have wave control it'll be fine, but that will need the help of your Bot Laner.
Senna
Senna has alot of poke, and all of it is AD, then add her AoE root and it makes grouping in lane a deadly mistake. Be ready to Zone her out of Q's with your W and root her if she over extends. Buying Zhonya's and going double armor runes will help with survivability.
Pyke
Pyke is scary to fight, but not ban worthy. You can deny his CC, but we still have the damage problem, especially if it's a Hail of Blades Pyke, so going the Resolve Rune Set and Relic Shield will allow you to withstand through lane and not feed the bot laners. Also PLAY PASSIVE: Not doing anything does not equal bad.
Zyra
Very Zyra favored. Her magic damage can insta destroy your shield, and her root is is hard to not get it due to it's visual look. I suggest go Relic Shield and Scaling runes, while using the Moonstone build. Also if she bursts you be sure to type in all chat: "sorry for existing".
Morgana
Don't trust anyone, not even yourself.
Jhin
While you int it out in teamfights, Jhin makes a coffee in the backline. His traps will give great opportunities for your root, which gives great opportunities for his root, and vice-versa.
Aphelios
I think the 200 years of this champion make him amazing with everyone. Your root allow him to get his combos easier and your ults are great together, due to their teamfight ability.
Jinx
Jinx can follow your root with her own root and do alot of damage plus a slow. I don't think there's much to it, she's just a simple yet effective champion to play with.
Caitlyn
The Synergy is huge with this one, if you thought Miss Fortune was zoning, this is just bullying. your root allows her for easier traps and headshots. Plus both of you have amazing range on your abilities.
Draven
Dravennnnn! Oh boy that's a deadly early game, seeing one root and a kill is acquired most times, or just a flash and heal. Either going Imperial Mandate or Moonstone can improve his effectiveness is slaying the red team.
Samira
Samira's Passive works fine and dandy with your roots, making a much bigger CC duration. Another thing she loves is your black shield when she all ins with R, so going Moonstone Build will give her heals and movement speed for the all in.
Kai'Sa
She's a strong champion overall and every ADC likes your black shield, so she'll be quite happy knowing she can't get CC. Also you two can do great amounts of single target damage.
Varus
Mister Varus can do alot of poke and can control the his enemies, and so can you. Both have similar looking abilities that have alot of synergy, but that needs teamwork.
Twitch
You can synergize your root into his slow and your W. Your black shield will keep him safe and allow him to 1v9. Knowing Twitch loves enchanters, going the Moonstone path might lead to his effective plays, with Staff and Ardent.
Miss Fortune
This is the extreme zoning duo. Miss Fortune's E will allow for easier roots, which will allow her for more effective ults. Going the Imperial Mandate Build might be the best in these scenarios.
Ashe
There isn't very synergy in lane, but your lack of utility compared to others picks in support can get fixed with this Frejlordian babe.
Tristana
Tristana likes to go in, which is a death sentence to you except when you have Zhonya's. Still she will love your black shield.
Kalista
You have a small synergy in Kalista decides to ultimate you and push you into the enemy team to unleash you teamfight abilites. Still, there are better picks.
Lucian
Both of you have great control abilities in lane and a simple root can lead to kills if Lucian knows what to do.
Vayne
Amazing against tank Supports, for one root and he might die, but there isnt much synergy, but maybe going a supportive build can enhance her plays.
Sivir
Double SpellShield Team. Having a Sivir will increase the Control in lane, especially if she's building Lethality. Go all burst to make your enemies suffer. Not much synergy, but she loves your roots and you love combining ultimates.
Ezreal
Ezreal likes your root alot, cuz it makes him hit his W-Q combo, but ezreal isn't the champion for synergy. Going Moonstone Build can help him though.
Yasuo
It's fine i guess, your root helps alot with hitting tornados and... yeah...
Senna
A better Lucian in terms of control, but not bursty. Still you can combo roots and she can helps you survive more when you int it out on teamfights.
Xayah
Alot of CC, but it really is that. I legit don't know what to add here, just get Imperial Mandate or something.
Kog'Maw
Kog Maw is a rare pick, but still he's only good with enchanter mages, which you aren't unless you go the Moonstone Build. Not much synergy in abilities, but your Root allows him to hit his ultimate.
