His kit kinda counters the bear, matchup is playable if he's running grasp but if he goes lethal tempo you'll mostly just get stomped

SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
Welcome to My Volibear Guide
About Me
My name is Enzo, but you might know me better by my online alias, Azzinoth
I was a Rengar main since Season 6, initially focusing on AD/Jungle Rengar.
However, since this season, I've transitioned to playing Volibear in the top lane.
Achievements
I managed to reach Master 200LP on EUW
(Went from Emerald 4 to Master in only one season)

PROS/CONS
+Insane early game
+Insane splitpush
+Great carry potential
+One of the highest build diversity in the game
+High dopamine
Volibear has such a unique design, you can build almost whatever you want on this champ, making it easy to find a way to play it that you'll find fun.
-Tend to fall behind in very late stages of the game
-Require some knowledge to dive and snowball properly
-Can easily feel overwelmed by build diversity.
-Pretty hard to play teamfight
Just like any juggernaut, voli can struggle against multiple range team comps.
GENERAL PLAYSTYLE
Playstyle
In the top lane, Volibear's most effective carry strategy revolves around dominating your lane opponent and taking down towers through splitpushing. While tank builds can work, they generally don't provide the same level of impact as damage-oriented builds that allow you to truly carry games.
Your primary goal should always be being able to kill the fed enemy laner. This takes precedence over everything else. A Volibear who can consistently eliminate the enemy team's strongest player creates massive pressure and opens up opportunities for your team.
Volibear is rather mediocre in teamfights for several reasons:
- Ultimate cast time is too long - makes it difficult to engage effectively
- Relatively squishy despite his tanky appearance
- Needs time to apply regeneration (second W cast)
- Easy to kite by mobile enemies
Play Volibear as a splitpusher rather than a traditional juggernaut like Darius or Mordekaiser. Focus on:
- Creating pressure in side lanes
- Winning 1v1 or 1v2 situations
- Taking objectives when enemies are distracted
- Avoiding large teamfights where your weaknesses are exposed
Volibear excels in sidelane situations and skirmishes where he can utilize his dueling potential and mobility more effectively than in chaotic teamfight scenarios.

Precision Tree Setup
Precision tree is often the best in toplane for extended fights due to the length of the lane. As explained above, you choose between ![]() ![]() |
This row is preference-based. I tend to opt for ![]() |

This is also preference-based. In theory, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
