Tips
One of the most important things in the game is farming. It's an easy and safe way to get items and carry the game. You can see more about wave management in the bottom of the guide.^^

Other things that might help you climb:
Focus on your own mistakes not your teams mistakes
Don't use the chat, it will only distract you
If you die a lot then buy more pink wards to prevent ganks and look at the minimap more often to see if you can find the enemy jungler. If you see the enemy jungler bot, you can play aggressive without the risk of getting ganked.

Hello guys this is my Garen guide. I have been playing since season 2 and have been Challenger the last 4 seasons. I got 2 accounts in Challenger at the moment and I'm trying to get my 3. smurf to Challenger. Right now I focus only on toplane where I play Tryndamere most of the time. There are other builds/runes to Garen that works so you need to figure out what works best for you. You could use my build every game but I would recommend you to form your own builds that works with ur playstyle.

Summoner Spells

SUMMONER SPELLS
-
FLASH: Garen should have flash every game, because I believe that is his best summoner spell, it helps secure kills and survive ganks.
IGNITE: Ignite gives you the ability to secure kills because it deals true damage and it makes the enemies heal less.
Starting Items
Doran's Shield: This is the most used first item as Garen. I would recommend you to pick this item everygame. However if you feel like other items works better for you feel free to change it.
Core Items

Core Items

Ninja Tabi: These items gives 20 Armor and comes with two UNIQUE Passives:

UNIQUE Passive: Enhanced Movement: +45 Movement Speed.

UNIQUE Passive: Blocks 12% of the damage from basic attacks.
The Black Cleaver: This item gives 40 Attack Damage, 20% Cooldown Reduction, 400 Health and comes with two UNIQUE Passives:

UNIQUE Passive: Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion reduces their armor by 4% for 6 seconds. This effect stacks up to 6 times for a maximum of 24% armor reduction.

UNIQUE Passive: Rage: Dealing physical damage grants 20 Movement Speed for 2 seconds. Killing any unit or receiving an assist on a champion that has any amount of Black Cleaver armor shred grants 60 Movement Speed for 2 seconds instead.
Dead Man's Plate: This item gives 60 Armor, 425 Health and comes with two UNIQUE Passives:

UNIQUE Passive: Dreadnought: You build Momentum stacks while moving, increasing movement speed by up to 60 at 100 stacks. Momentum quickly decays while under the effects of a stun, taunt, fear, silence, blind, polymorph, or immobilize effect.

UNIQUE Passive: Crushing Blow: Basic attacks discharge all momentum stacks, dealing 1 damage per momentum consumed.

Melee only: If at maximum momentum, the next basic attack also slows the target by 50% for 1 second.
Sterak's Gage: This item gives 450 Health and passives:

Passive: Grants 50% base attack damage as bonus attack damage.

UNIQUE Passive: Lifeline: Grants Sterak's Fury upon taking 400 - 1800 (based on level) damage within 5 seconds (60 second cooldown).

Sterak's Fury: For 8 seconds, grants increased size, +30% Tenacity, and a shield that starts decaying after 0.75 seconds based of 75% bonus health.
Adaptive Helm: This item gives 10% Cooldown Reduction, 350 Health, 100% Base Health Regeneration, 55 Magic Resistance and it comes with an UNIQUE Passive:

UNIQUE Passive: Taking magic damage from a spell or effect reduces all subsequent magic damage taken from that spell or effect by 20% for 4 seconds. Multiple sources of magic damage can have this effect active at any one time and the duration is tracked separately per source.
Guardian Angel: This item gives 40 Armor, 40 Attack Damage and it comes with an UNIQUE Passive:

UNIQUE Passive: Upon taking lethal damage, restore 50% of base health and 30% of maximum mana after 4 seconds of stasis (300 second cooldown).
Abilities

ABILITY
Perseverance (Passive):
If Garen has not recently been struck by damage or enemy abilities, he regenerates a percentage of his total health each second. Minion damage does not stop Perseverance.



Q
Decisive Strike (Q):
Garen gains a burst of movement speed, breaking free of all slows affecting him. His next attack strikes a vital area of his foe, dealing bonus damage and silencing them.

Garen breaks free from all slows affecting him, and gains 30% movement speed for 1.5/2/2.5/3/3.5 seconds. His next basic attack within 4.5 seconds deals 30/60/90/120/150 (+140% Attack Damage) physical damage and silences his target for 1.5 seconds.



W
Courage (W):
Garen passively increases his armor and magic resist by killing enemies. He may also activate this ability to give him a huge burst of Tenacity and damage reduction for a brief moment followed by a lesser amount of damage reduction for a longer duration.

Passive: Killing units permanently grants some armor and magic resist, up to a maximum of 50.
Active: Garen steels his courage for 2/2.75/3.5/4.25/5 seconds. For the first 0.75 seconds, he takes 60% less damage and gains 60% Tenacity. For the remaining duration, he takes 30% less damage.



E
Judgment (E):
Garen performs a dance of death with his sword, dealing damage around him for the duration and shredding the armor of enemy champions hit.

Garen rapidly spins his sword around his body for 3 seconds, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies -- 14/18/22/26/30 plus 36/37/38/39/40% of his attack damage. Enemy champions hit by 4 spins lose 25% of their armor for 6 seconds. Judgment deals 33% increased damage when striking only one enemy. Cancelling Judgment returns cooldown equal to the remaining duration. Judgment can critically strike for bonus damage.



R
Demacian Justice (R):
The enemy champion with the most recent kills is the Villain. Garen's attacks deal additional true damage to that champion.

Garen can call upon the might of Demacia to deal a finishing blow to an enemy champion that deals damage based upon how much health his target has missing. This damage is true damage against the Villain.

Passive: The enemy champion with the most recent kills is the Villain. Judgment and basic attacks against it deal an additional 1% of its maximum health as true damage.
Active: Garen calls upon the might of Demacia to attempt to execute an enemy champion, dealing magic damage equal to 175/350/525 plus 28/33/40% of the target's missing health. Deals true damage to the Villain.


Runes
  • Resolve
  • Resolve: Garen takes resolve to deal more damage to champs and turrets and to get more sustain and more health.
  • Grasp of the Undying
  • Grasp of the Undying: PASSIVE: Dealing or receiving damage within 2 seconds generates one stack every second. At 4 stacks, your next basic attack within 6 seconds against an enemy champion deals 4% of your maximum health bonus magic damage, restores 2% of your maximum health, and permanently grants 5 bonus health. The empowered attack duration refreshes whenever dealing or receiving damage.
  • Demolish
  • Demolish: PASSIVE: You generate stacks on enemy structures within 600 units, up to 6 after 3 seconds. Your next attack versus a structure with 6 stacks deals 100 (+ 35% of your maximum health) bonus physical damage. Demolish will only go on cooldown upon triggering the damage.
    Stacks fall off slowly if you move out of range.
    Cooldown 45 seconds
    Range 600
  • Second Wind
  • Second Wind: PASSIVE: After taking damage from an enemy champion, gain health regeneration equal to 6 (+ 4% of your missing health) over 10 seconds.
  • Overgrowth
  • Overgrowth: PASSIVE: Every 8 monsters or enemy minions that die near you permanently grants 3 bonus health.
    After gaining 15 stacks (120 monsters or minions), you gain an additional 3.5% maximum health.
    Range 1400
  • Precision
  • Precision: Garen gets Precision to get healing when he get takedowns and to get more Tenacity.

  • Triumph
  • Triumph: PASSIVE: Champion takedowns, after a 1-second delay, restore 12% of your missing health and grant an additional Gold 20.
  • Legend: Tenacity
  • Legend: Tenacity: PASSIVE: Gain 5% (+ 2.5% per Legend stack) tenacity, up to 30% with 10 stacks.
    LEGEND: Gain Legend stacks for every 20 points earned, up to 10:
    20 points for champion Damage rating takedowns
    20 points for epic monster Damage rating takedowns
    5 points for large monster kills
    1 point for minion kills
Minion Control
I would recommend you to study this video because wave management/Minion Control is one of the most important skills in the game. If you master this you will climb!

GAREN
THE MIGHT OF DEMACIA
Born into the noble Crownguard family, along with his younger sister Lux, Garen knew from an early age that he would be expected to defend the throne of Demacia with his life. His father, Pieter, was a decorated military officer, while his aunt Tianna was Sword-Captain of the elite Dauntless Vanguard—and both were recognized and greatly respected by King Jarvan III. It was assumed that Garen would eventually come to serve the king’s son in the same manner.

The kingdom of Demacia had risen from the ashes of the Rune Wars, and the centuries afterward were plagued with further conflict and strife. One of Garen’s uncles, a ranger-knight in the Demacian military, told young Garen and Lux his tales of venturing outside the kingdom’s walls to protect its people from the dangers of the world beyond.
