Champion Build Guide
Introduction
Do you want to get out of your elo? Do you want to 1v9 games with ease? Enter Jax. If played correctly, you can skyrocket your winrate and get to gold or above in a flash! I will put brief overviews of each chapter at the top, but if you want more in depth be sure to read down! Let's get into it.
Summoner Spells
![]() |
Self explanatory for jungle. Absolutely necessary. |
![]() |
You're probably wondering why I don't take flash. Ghost is extremely strong when you want to stick to opponents. You are virtually un-kitable in team-fights. Best of all, the cooldown is nearly half that of ![]() |
Items
Jax has one of the most variable build options in the entire game. Building correctly is what differentiates good Jax's from great ones. I will continue to experiment with builds and see which one is most effective.
![]() |
This is a fairly standard item that you build second in most games. Jax can make use of all the stats, and the sheen proc helps burst down squishy targets. This item is great because the components are strong in their own right. I build ![]() |
In-game strategy
I like to do a full first clear and recall with at least 1100 gold to buy
Hearthbound Axe. If you have extra gold, buy
Boots.
In this elo, your opponent's laners aren't good and often overextend. It is very important that you look at your minimap and ask your allies if your opponents have their summoner spells. Make sure to gank! Ganking boosts team morale because you are helping, and more effectively, your enemies will lose their minds if you spam gank (which is great). If you kill your opponent's a few times, they might just give up.
To reiterate, gank when you can. If you get ahead, counter jungle to push your lead but be careful not to die. The good thing is that Jax scales very well so even if you don't get too far ahead, just say "we scale" to your team.

How to navigate teamfights
Teamfights in league of legends are messing and difficult to properly go through but I will tell you how to teamfight with Jax.
First: identify a priority target.
Generally, the enemy has one fed member and if you can kill that person you should be able to win the fight. If you catch the high priority target out of position (aka they facecheck a bush you are in) GO ALL IN! If the high priority target is playing safe, let one of your allies initiate the fight, THEN go in for the kill. Jax is mediocre as an engager.
Second: kill the rest of the enemies based on who has the most damage. Let's play through an example. They have a fed
Syndra. You engage and kill Syndra quickly. What do you do next? Most likely you should jump and kill their ADC because usually ADC's have high damage. Then that's it- you and your team will overwhelm the enemy especially without their strongest member that you killed. NICE.
Finally: be decisive after a fight. Communicate with your team what you want to do after a win. If you are near baron, ping and type "baron" to your team. if you are close to the enemy base, destroy an inhibitor! Communicate and lead your team to victory.

Ward hoping
Ward hoping is a key mechanic of Jax. This is the act of placing a
Stealth Ward and immediately
Leap Strikeing to it. It's simple and very powerful. This is effectively another flash. You can ward hop over walls, cover extra distance in a chase, or dodge skill shots.
For this reason, always try to keep at least one
Stealth Ward available.
Try this out in practice tool a couple times - ward hop over walls. Make sure you can hop in and out of the dragon and baron pit. Ward hoping feels good once you get it down.

Auto attack canceling
If you already understand AA cancelling, feel free to skip this section. If not, please read!
Note: a common abbreviation of Autoattack is (AA)
AA cancelling is the act of using an ability immediately after the damage from an auto attack goes through. I will attach a gif shortly.
As Jax, use your
Empower right after you auto attack so you basically hit twice at one time. For the most damage possible, DO NOT activate your
Empower before you use
Leap Strike. This is because hitting an enemy with
Leap Strike will consume your
Empower. Instead, use
Leap Strike, then immediately use
Empower and auto attack after. This way you are adding more damage by using an auto attack reset.

Other tips
If you take the
Revitalize rune, healing is increased even more while you are under 40% health. To maximize healing, use smite and
Refillable Potion while you are low on health for more healing!
Keep a control ward in your inventory so you can ward hop with it!
Don't forget you can reactivate
Counter Strike early to stun sooner!
Speaking of which, if you stun the
rift scuttler it reduces it's armour and magic resist from 60 -> 30! So stun it first then attack it to kill it faster.
