More ranged abilities and strong AP. Dodge her and your fine
Akali
Abad one is easy, but a good one is deadly. Her ability to poke you down sucks. You can usually hit her through camouflage but she can juke and kite you.
Alistar
Poke him down and all in. You'll either secure kill or he will bat you away and have to back.
Amumu
If your weak and he lands his snare, your dead. Otherwise, you should be able to beat him or get away.
Anivia
You can hop over her walls, which takes away much of her ability. Save E for her wall. her stuns can suck but ultimately you will win.
Annie
Point Click stuns suck. Stay back and poke her down
Ashe
Poke her down and stay behind minions. Move around a lot
Aurelion Sol
Either stay back or get up in his face. Don't get hit by his stars, its just free damage.
Azir
His minions make this matchup close to impossible. You can out damage and win if you are out of range of minions. You cannot jump over his ult.
Bard
Dodge his stuns and wreck him.
Blitzcrank
Not much to say about Blitz that you don't already know
Brand
He gets tanky with high AP, but shouldn't be too hard.
Braum
His shield can be tough, but he can't really stop you from bullying
Caitlyn
Range makes her a pain in the ass.
Camille
As a Top laner, you can win. As a support, she is tough.
Cho'Gath
Stay back and don't get eaten.
Darius
Close combat won't work unless he's stunned. Poke him down, mega Gnar in and stun him to death.
Dr. Mundo
Dodge the knives, poke him down
Draven
His damage and aggression makes him tough as you cannot choose to be aggressive or passive.
Ekko
His mobility is on par with yours and he can do serious damage. Stay back and wait for him to burn ult.
Ezreal
This matchup depends on what his support does. He isn't hard but a good support can peel and get him fed.
Fiora
Don't let her hit vitals and you're good.
Fizz
He can dodge a lot of attacks, so he can outlast you if you don't play smart.
Galio
Easy matchup. Utilize your range.
Gangplank
Watch the barrels, you should be fine
Garen
Don't let him leave fight and regen.
Gragas
He cn push you around really easily and you won't feel like you damage him.
Graves
His range is awful. Beat him up
Hecarim
He can seem scary when he's running at you. Take the time to land a boomerang and he will slow down. Juke him by jumping over walls or behind him.
Heimerdinger
Turrets hurt. Play passive
Illaoi
Who doesn't hate tentacles? She is the reason I can't watch Hentai anymore
Jarvan IV
He out damages you, but you can hop his trench. Difficult but manageable
Jax
He can parry you and jump-stun. Be careful and play safe
Jayce
Move around a juke him
Jhin
Don't let him hit you with his fourth shot. Move around so he can't snare you.
Jinx
She can hurt if you let her get ahead. Get help from jungler and don't let her be aggressive.
Kassadin
His whole moveset counters yours. Luckily, he is hard to learn so most players that use him don't know what they are doing. But watch out anyway.
Katarina
Pay attention to her daggers and watch her blink-Ult combo. But she's pretty easy.
Kennen
Dangerous in team fights, but easy to wear down. He has significant mobility.
Kha'Zix
Don't get kited around and you'll be fine
LeBlanc
You counter her in every way. Cheer to the League Gods if you get matched up with her.
Lee Sin
Juke him and he won't be able to land an ability on you.
Leona
Her stun sucks and she has big damage, but you can beat her if you separate her from adc.
Lux
Her abilities are just as ranged as you and she can melt you in every way. Ban her if you can.
Malzahar
His silence can take away your tools, move around and use his minions as free gold.
Maokai
Keep track of and dodge the little tree bombs.
Master Yi
If he gets fed, he sucks. Otherwise, lead him on a merry chase and kite until your team comes to help.
Miss Fortune
She out damages you by a lot, but you can hop out of her ult and slow. Shouldn't be too hard
Morgana
If you let her root you, you are dead
Nami
Don't let her land her water bubble thing and you destroy her.
Nasus
If Susan gets his stacks or gets fed, you have screwed your team.
Nautilus
His knock up is problematic but ultimately you can get away from him.
Olaf
His move set is similar to yours, only better and made to kill you.
Orianna
This will be a tough lane, but you won't die. Play passively and poke her down. Steer clear of her orb.
Ornn
Like orianna, this will be a difficult matchup. Don't engage. Let him come to you and get out of position. Poke him down.
Pantheon
Don't let him get close. He will beat you up. Stay back and you win. Transform and stun him to death.
Poppy
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Quinn
If you get nearsighted she sucks, but otherwise you can win.
Renekton
Nasus but more mobility
Rengar
Slightly harder than Kha zix because of his slow, but not by much.
Riven
If she knows what she is doing, she can hurt. Just don't fall for tricks and play passively. Ward constantly.
Shyvana
She can hurt if you get too close. Boomerang to slow her down, then kite until you transform.
Singed
Don't let him proxy farm and don't get kited.
Sion
He can re-engage and mess with your move set. Stay mobile and you can beat him. He's slow, you're fast. Simple.
Sivir
She's manageable but strong. Stay back and watch her skill shot.
Sona
She can make or break an ADC matchup. Stay out of her range.
Soraka
If she's aggressive, she will stop you completely. If she's passive, it's a lot easier.
Swain
Tough lane, but you can beat him if you let him push and you stay out of his skill shots.
Syndra
She sucks in so many ways, but if you can dodge her, you can beat her.
Tahm Kench
He's a fish. You're an ancient Yordle. You probably eat fish.
Taliyah
Hop over her ult and she will flame.
Talon
He hurts and can escape easily. But if you stay back , you can wear him down.
Teemo
People think he counters you but if you keep track of his shrooms and his location, you win.
Thresh
Harder support to deal with but as long as you don't get hooked, you can ignore him. Try to push him so he can't get souls.
Tristana
Weak early, but she can trade with you. Watch her escape and engage. That hop can hurt.
Trundle
He has an ability that makes it so you can't kill him. Push him around but don't engage.
Tryndamere
If he uses undying rage, Kite but keep him close. Chase if he tries to run.
Twisted Fate
does a lot of damage, but easy to kill.
Twitch
Don't get poisoned. Duh.
Urgot
If you are top, ban him. I hate this guy.
Vayne
She works in threes, just like you. Counter her like you'd counter yourself.
Veigar
Don't get stunned and dodge everything. Simple enough.
Vel'Koz
If you match up with him mid, you lose. He has super range and killer AP.
Vi
She is my jungle main. Juke her and you beat her.
Wukong
Tough to keep track of him. Stay away and slow him down.
Xayah
Weak ADC, but don't get rooted.
Xerath
Slightly easier velkoz, but still tough.
Xin Zhao
My least favorite jungler. He hurts makes me cry.
Yasuo
Don't let him land the tornado thing and you crush him. Use your range to bully him.
Yorick
Jump over his wall, kill his minions and piss on his grave.
Zed
Extremely mobile. Move around to dodge his skill shot. Make him ult you under tower.
Zoe
Actually pretty even matchup. If you can dodge her abilities, she won't destroy you. Let her think she can be aggressive and punish her.
I won't go into a ton of detail here. I'm not platinum or Master rank. I play league for fun. Gnar was the first champion I learned and I've gotten pretty good with him. That's it. After being told he is ONLY a top laner, I said screw it and took him everywhere else. He is pretty good everywhere on the map.
Runes:
Read the notes about them as runes change slightly depending on lane
Spells:
I usually go Ignite and TP. Gnar has a hop that doubles if he hops onto someone else. So flash is unnecessary. If you are Bot lane, you could take heal. But i find ignite is a nice way to secure close trades.
