Champion Build Guide
This build comes from studying https://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Soraka and prioritizes burst, but scales in a balanced way. I'm making this build because I get S most every game with legitimate teammates.
I have 1M points with Soraka, currently gold 1/2
Support can sway 4/10 champions in the game (2 denied and 2 fed) and possibly involve jungle/mid. The build works top, but I don't recommend it.
Cheese Leash Harass:
Unless the enemy team has a hook (blitz/thresh/nautilus), it's extremely rewarding to solo invade the enemy leash at 1:25. Their jungler will take more damage, and the bot lane will usually miss melees. If invading bot, ward from golems up to red. If invading up to top, stealing red is op, then cruising through mid and warding ally red. These tactics can win the game.
Try to save ult for yourself (especially low elo), and for target below 40%. It's a lifeline, and makes Soraka more of a tank (or a sacrificial goat).
The main damage comes from Sheen, which is cheaper than a BF sword, but gives 60+ dmg (+3(6)/level) AND 10% CDR. You want to get Sheen asap, and you will realize that Soraka can attack before casting to amplify the banana. No one expects the banana.
Health is equivalent to damage, and being close to mid lane, base, turrets, teammates, and even a strong minion wave is valuable. In lane, it's best to stay the same distance as your ADC from the closest enemy, so that you can easily cover each other. Mid is the best lane due to geometry, and you want to fan out for objectives after passing the river. Avoid map elbows / corners of the map. For some reason (probably due to "pros"), most ADCs will try to rotate top, but it's much better to push mid, regardless of whether your mid complains. By the time you get bottom turret, mid should be huge from solo farm, and they need to leave the nest or push with you.
Kiting and baiting with Soraka is essential. Q is slower at range, and her attack is slow enough that you can do other things "in the shadow" before enemy realizes you're spiking them. Soraka wins with small hp trades and backing for farm and objectives, especially in lane. If melee dives soraka, you generally need to place a good E in the direction you want to go, or on-top of self if you're about to Q + gauntlet.
After the first turret, you want to camp mid with your ADC, and repeatedly drag/rift. If you can ward behind the next bot turret, it's EXTREMELY valuable to know who's approaching, and you can take the turret without a problem. Always use yellow trinket before Frostfang, unless recalling soon.
Rod of ages is worth 3600+ in stats alone, and cost 2600, plus gives the marginal heal from spamming abilities.
- Soraka Q is fastest to hit the ground when cursor is directly on top of Soraka, rather than aiming with the middle of the AOE
- Soraka level 1 W is good for transferring Q rejuv as soon as Q hits the ground, and if timed before dragon attacks, shield nullifies all drag damage on jungler
- The last second of self rejuv won't transfer to ally
- Soraka E procs manaband, aery, scorch, AND cheapshot if they haven't moved out when aery hits
- Soraka E beats high elo players
- Soraka R is amazing, since it's the equivalent of an instant Karthus ult, and you can save teammates from across the map and get assist gold easily
It's best to cast E before Q when casters are approaching, since you will nullify their damage and they'll walk closer before realizing they're silenced, potentially striking E twice. Q takes a split second to cast and has travel time.
