Spells:

Ability Order
Void Shift (PASSIVE)
Malzahar Passive Ability
Introduction
This is simple.
Reds- Magic Pen-Best
Yellow - MP5/level-Best
Blue - Magic reist/CDR ( both ar viable)
Quints - Flat ap - best
- Flat hp - not as good as flat ap, but it works.
- Magic pen - less viable option
I chose magic resist blue runes because you are carry ap and you should go mid lane. Usually you'll face a carry ap too and magic resist from runes will make you a pain in the *** for him.
Now let's talk about quints. I saw a lot of players who played malzahar using flat hp quints. They aren't a bad choice but it's only 78 hp early game. You also are rushing for catalyst and hp won't be a problem. If you chose flat ap you'll have a nice dmg early game, a great power of harass and farming, which means winning the lane. You'll say that not using flat hp is a mistake and i'm a free kill. No i'm not, that why first item i take is
+ 3x
.We'll take later about build. Also magic pen quints are a viable option, but it's the last of these that i'll use.

Maybe most important section of this build.
I always start with
+ 3x
. It offers me mobility, i can stay longer in lane and farm. The most important thing is to farm. Every 18 CS are a champion kill.
My hp pots should offer me enough time to get money for catalyst the protector. It's important to finish your
ASAP because of his pasive. After i finish my Rod of ages i complete my boots and go back to lane and farm, farm, farm. In 15 minutes you should have at least 100 CS.
Here starts mid game. Now i go for Rylais's Crystal Scepter. First i take a
, then i complete with
and
. Then i go for a
.
Now you should be close to late game. If i face a tanky team with lot of magic resist i take an
. If i face bursters/high dps team i take
or
. If me and my team are owning i take
or
. You should combine those items for your last 2 inventory spots.
Usually i go for
.
It's also a good choice. Late game your Sorcere's Shoes won't do big deal and if they have lot of MR you should have
and you can change them with
, it'll help you a lot in teamfights.

1.Lot of players starts with
. It's a good start item, it offers hp,mp5 and ability power but late game it's useless and you can't use to complete others items. I feel that i can't resist on lane without that hp, mp5 it's not a problem because of masteries and runes and ability power from runes too. It's a good item and if you can't resist on lane with
feel free to take doran's.
2.Why you don't take Tear of goddes? It offers a lot mana and you can upgrade it to
.
NEVER, EVER take Tear of goddes instead of Catalys the protector. It just offers you lot of mana, which is useless because you have blue buff, masteries and runes which offers mp5 and Catalys the protector offers also a nice amount of mana. You can upgrade Catalys the protector into
which is an awesome item early game. Don't take Tear of goddes on Malzahar, you'll just screw his build.
3. Why no Mejai's?
It's a great item,it offers a lot of ap and cdr at 20 stacks. But wait.. 20 stacks? If you have 20 stacks in a game it means you face really weak players and you'll win the game soon. It's really hard to stack Mejai's in ranked/high elo games and if you die you lose a lot of stacks. It's a good item for Malzahar but it's risky to take it. If you feel that you can stack it and it'll offer you more ap then others item TAKE IT!

Passive
:After casting 4 spells, Malzahar summons an uncontrollable Voidling to engage enemy units for 21 seconds. Voidlings have 200 + 50 x lvl Health and 20 + 5 x lvl Damage.
Voidlings Grow after 7 seconds (+50% Damage/Armor), and Frenzy after 14 seconds (+100% Attack Speed).
Q:
Malzahar opens two portals to the void. After a short delay, they fire projectiles which deal 80 / 135 / 190 / 245 / 300 (+80% of ability power) magic damage and silence champions for 1.4 / 1.8 / 2.2 / 2.6 / 3 seconds.
W:
Malzahar creates a zone of negative energy for 5 seconds. The zone deals 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9% (+1.25% of ability power)% of the target's max health as magic damage each second, with a minimum of 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 (damage to Monsters is capped).
E:
Malzahar infects his target's mind, dealing 80 / 140 / 200 / 260 / 320 (+80% of ability power) magic damage over 4 seconds. If the target dies during this time, the visions pass to a nearby enemy and Malzahar gains 10 / 14 / 18 / 22 / 26 mana.
R:
Malzahar channels the essence of the Void to suppress the target (stuns and disables summoner spells), dealing 250 / 400 / 550 (+150% of ability power) magic damage over 2.5 seconds
Here are 2 Seqeunces.
I. Max R,then E then Q
It works for a better farming. I go for this Sequence and it also gives you a better chance for a free kill.
II. Max R,then Q then E
This Sequence is good if you face a tough enemy like Caitlyn/Kog Maw with huge range. They would easily outlane you and you'll wouldn't be able to farm. Maxing Q first offers you a better harrasing in lane.
Your combo should be Q+W+E+R. If enemy's still alive combine Q+E until he dies.
Here comes the trick and why i love malzahar. At level 6 you got your ultimate. If you harrased your enemy enough and he has less then 50% hp just flash, then E+R then ignite and he'll be dead.
Usually you should Q+W+E+R. Your W does a lot of dmg over time as well as your E. Take a look at your passive stack, and if it's 2/3 be sure that your pet will do a good damage and it'll help you too kill enemy champ. If you're sure that you can kill your enemy without using W because he's low hp and you don't what him to escape just E+R and ignite and he should be dead.
