Introduction

Hey everybody, welcome to my guide for Annie: The Dark Child. Have You Seen My Bear Tibbers is a guide for Annie players of all levels: I intend to share some insight on how I play the character and allow people to consider aspects of the build they may have not seen before. Feel free to rate and comment to let me know what you think. Enjoy the guide.

Runes

Runes are a fairly standard aspect of playing any character, and most setups differ only slightly; I use Magic Penetration marks, Armor Seals, Flat Ability Power Glyphs and Movement Speed Quintessences. The only two needing explanation are the Seals and Quintessences; Annie's low base armor allows her to be harassed very easily at lower levels. Beefing her up for the first portion of the game allows you to concentrate on CS farming your lane without having to worry about being half-healthed by Ashe's auto-attacks. My experience with Annie is mostly in the middle lane, where you often solo against an AD Carry. The armor runes should take the edge off that. The Quintessences increase your movement speed by an equivalent of purchasing ; This allows Annie to make up for some mobility she was slightly lacking previously. It also allows you to reap the benefits of having while maintaining the movement speed of .

Masteries

The Masteries I use are a standard 9/0/21, concentrating on the caster benefits in Offense and the very standard Utility build. As an alternative, you could switch to 21/0/9 but I don't recommend it.

Summoner Spells

is one of the most useful summoner abilities in the game. A short teleport lets you hop through walls away from danger or set up very precise ganks. A must have escape/positioning tool for Annie.

complements Annie's kit very well as it's a damage over time spell that can work in conjunction with the aura provided by Summon:Tibbers

I don't recommend any alternatives.

Items

Begin the game by purchasing and x3 and head off to your lane. Farm your creeps as effectively as you can, and use your potions to keep yourself in lane. Once you have 1325 gold, go back and purchase a Catalyst the Protector. This will keep you in lane despite harassment, as well as increase your defensive capabilities enough that you can play more aggressively. Purchase a as soon as you can to allow it time to stack up, then finish . will greatly increase your presence in teamfights, so the time between purchasing it and your should be very short. is a very useful purchase around this time because it will stop you from getting focused instantly; Stasis at the correct time to waste the opposing team's cooldowns and allow your team to punish the opposing carry. is one of the higher Ability Power items in the game available at the end of this build, so it is an available option if no other situational items are needed. should be constantly up after and are purchased.

Optional/Situational Items

Items in this section of the guide should replace

This item is very useful if you find yourself against a team with abnormally large health. TIP: if your teammates are building , consider this item.

Combined with the Stasis on Zhonya's Hourglass, this item could very easily turn a battle around on the opposing team. Do your job as a glass cannon, Stasis out their attempts to focus you and then upon your death, begin nuking again. This combination buys your team a large amount of time to focus down threatening enemies.

A very overlooked item; Purchase this against to ruin his Ultimate.

Items to Avoid and Why

In general, most Cooldown Reduction items are wasted on Annie because of the easily reachable CDR cap with just the Blue Buff and a Blue Potion.

With such high nuking power as Annie has, I find the slow to be a waste of an item budget. There's generally nothing left after a full round of spells, and paying such a high price for a very seldom used function of an item seems wasteful.

I see a lot of Annie builds include this one, and I'd strongly advise against it. Annie is not constantly casting; Her abilities have long cooldowns before the end of the game and you find yourself waiting around a lot, last hitting with auto attacks. The buildup required for this item through casting spells will ruin this item for you. I don't recommend it.

Team Work

Team Work means everybody doing their job. As Annie, your job is to focus down a kill target and CC as much as you can; this means making use of on or to stun the entire team and focus firing their carry or support. Stand in the back of the team until your tank or bruiser engages; Don't risk getting caught early and blowing your chances of dealing a large portion of your team's damage. Gank for teammates that are having problems in lane. You have a bear for a reason.

Playstyle and Additional Notes

Annie has a very high burst potential and high sustained damage. In lane from early game, hang back to coax out your opponent. Last hit with the long range on your auto attacks to farm creeps, and a killing blow when you don't think your auto attack will kill them. Using the skill in this way allows you to build up for no mana cost. If the opponent gets restless and tries to harass you, stun them and let your minions punish them. After getting , punish your opponents for getting stunned with that. Be gently harassing your opponent in this manner until you reach level 6; When you do, should net you a kill. From now on, this becomes your kill combo. Avoid using in conjunction with if you can; It's better to stun with a spell that doesn't have such a long cooldown and not risk missing your bear.

As an additional note; Ask your teammates to help you get Blue Buff, and use it in conjunction with a blue potion to max your CDR without needing to buy CDR items.

Summary

Thanks for reading my guide, I hope you found it informative. Annie can contribute a lot to a team if played properly, so go out and start throwing bears at people.

Cheers.
