Introduction

Greetings Summoners! My name is jster1314 and this is my Yasuo guide. This is my first time making a guide so please feel free to tell me anything i did wrong and any tips to make beter guides. I hope you find my guide very informative and it helps you climb the ranked ladder.

Why Yasuo?

Yasuo is a very fun ad midlaner with high mobility due to his Sweeping Blade. He can also block any proectile thrown at him, as long as it is not a laser, with his Wind Wall. He is one of those champions that doesn't take as much skill to play well, but if you want to play on a god-tier level, he has a high skill ceiling.

Summoner Spells

This summoner spell is a must have on almost every champion (with obvious exceptions of champions like Shaco and Hecarim). It can be used both defensively and offensively, so it is almost too good to pass up on.

This is the best summoner spell to take in most matchups. It is used when you are in a potential kill lane or a lane where you can aggro the enemy laner without losing trades. As Yasuo has high levels of damage throughout the game, you really only need to use this to secure the kill on a high mobility target, to apply pressure in trades, and to reduce healing effects on champions like Vladimir.

This is a situational summoner spell that you will want to take against champions with heavy cc, such as Lissandra, Ahri, and Zoe. PLEASE keep in mind that taking Cleanse does NOT counter Malzahar, as his ult is a suppress cc and cannot be cleansed with anything other than Quicksilver Sash.

This is a very defensive summoner spell that I only take in matchups that are very agressive/bursty. Champions in this category include Talon, Zed, and the occasional Riven mid picks.

Runes

Lethal Tempo: This is a very good rune to take on Yasuo because the damage and attack speed he gets with this rune is disgustingly broken. Of course you can also go Conqueror, but it doesn't do nearly as much damage in the early game as Lethal Tempo does. In a losing matchup or in any matchup where you need heavy sustain, you can take Fleet Footwork.

Triumph: This is a must have on Yasuo because it gives him a heal and some extra gold whenever he kills or assists in the kill of an enemy champion. This can make or break you when you dive towers because if you get the kill you just might live with just enough hp to survive another tower shot because of that heal.

Legend: Alacrity: You can really take any rune from this tree, but I find the attack speed you get from this rune to be good because it helps to lower your Steel Tempest cooldown faster without having to sacrifice an item slot for more attack speed. Bur if you are in a matchup where you need tenacity or if you are facing a heavy cc team, then you should get Legend: Tenacity.

Coup de Grace: This rune is good because it gives you that extra kill potential when the enemies are low.

Bone Plating: This is a good rune to take on pretty much any champion because of the fact that it essentially reduces the damage from 3 attacks. If the enemy wants to oneshot you or make you back early, they will have to pop your Bone Plating

Revitalize: Is a good rune because it gives you some extra heal power from your lifestealing, and some extra shield power on your passive, which can help you survive the early game as well as the late game.

You take the stats I have picked for you because they are the best of all the available choices. You get the attack speed to reduce the cd on Steel Tempest, you get the damage from the adaptive force, and you get the armor or magic resist based on your lane matchup.

Items

Starting Items

This is a great starting Item on Yasuo because it gives you flat hp, Attack Damage, and also 3% lifesteal. I know 3% doesn't sound like alot, but when you think about how many times you wil be using your autos and your Steel Tempest, it can possibly save your life to have that extra 3%. Not to mention that your runes will give you more lifesteal.

This item is a no-brainer. You take it on almost every champion. Be sure to get more of them when you back, or invest an extra 150 gold in a Refillable Potion

Stealth Vision control is very important. It is needed to know when the jungler or an opposing laner is coming to gank or roam in or out of your lane.

First Back

You will want to prioritize this item to back with before bots because not only do you get some damage to help you farm and trade in lane, but you also get attack speed, which lowers the cool down of Steel Tempest.

If you don't have enough gold to buy Noonquiver, the next best choice is to get Berserker's Greaves. It doesn't give you that nice hefty damage like Noonquiver does, but it gives you attack speed for your trading and your Steel Tempestcool down.
Back with this item if you have an extra 75 gold to spend. It is good to use this item to put in the river bush near scuttle crab to defend against jungle ganks and top or support roams.

Core Items

Right after getting your Berserker's Greaves, you want to rush Immortal Shieldbow. It gives you 50% crit chance, and it makes all of your autos and Steel Tempest hits do more damage. And because of the fact that you took Lethal Tempo you will be doing alot of extra damage and healing for alot more.
Once you have this, your Immortal Shieldbow, and Berserker's Greaves online, your q cooldown is capped at 1.33 seconds and you are critting on almost every auto attack.
This item is good to take on Yasuo because he is a fairly squishy champion, and can be blown up pretty quickly in teamfights. This item gives you healing through lifesteal and gives you a huge shield whenever you overheal from attacking. An all around good item for Yasuo.

Abilities

Passive: Way of the Wanderer

This, in my opinion, is one of my favorite passives in the game, Not only does it give you 100% crit with only 2 crit items, but the shield can make or break your fights sometimes. For example, say you are vs a Zed. He tries to hit you with a sneaky 6 combo and lands a double Razor Shuriken, but misses the 3rd one. You take the pop damage and survive with around 500 hp. The Zed Flash + auto's you, leaving you with around 320 or so hp, then Ignites you. You see your whole life flashing before your eyes. But suddenly, you hear that sweet, sweet sound of your passive shield and you survive with one hp.

Q: Steel Tempest

This is Yasuo's bread-and-butter. Most of his damage comes from here, his only form of cc comes from here, and any on-hit damage you choose to take ( Trinity Force, Blade of the Ruined King) come from here. You definitely want to max this skill first.

W: Wind Wall

I like to call this the "Yeet' Ability because when someone gets so hyped to kill my GOD-TIER Yasuo with their Ezreal Trueshot Barrage, I just YEET and press that w key and it gets negated. I then proceed to act like a true Yasuo main and type "?" in all-chat.

E: Sweeping Blade

This is another one of Yasuo's Bread-and-Butter abilities because it helps you gap close to chase the enemy, as well as get away from an enemy when you need to disengage. Not to mention the mechanic it provides with Steel Tempest.

R: Last Breath

This is a very unique ability because of the fact that it can only be activated when either you or an ally knocks up an enemy. It doesn't work when the enemy uses a leap or hits the blast cone. However, if you or an ally hit the blast cone, then you can ult off of that.

Gameplay

Early Game

: Level 1 you are going to want to take Steel Tempest, unless you are vs one of the champions that I mentioned earlier then you would take Sweeping Blade. You farm like normal, but when the enemy tries to walk up for farm, you poke them with Steel Tempest. Once you hit level 2, the standard trading combo is to Steel Tempest once on the minions, or on the enemy if you can without taking any poke, and then you do a Sweeping Blade + Steel Tempest combo, making sure to hit the champ with the swing damage of the Steel Tempest. From there, it depends on the situation. You can either all in him if he is overextended and you know for A FACT where his jungler is, or you can use your nado on the wave and keep doing the poke combo.

Mid Game

Yasuo's mid game differs for who you are playing against. If you are in a matchup that you cannot win, strongly suggest that you push out the wave as fast as you can and roam to either top or bot, preferably with your jungler. The reason I tell you to push out the wave is because if you don't push your wave to the enemy tower, the enemy minion wave will crash at your tower with the opposing laner pushing it, which can lead to losing first tower. If you are in a lane that you can win or are winning, you can just stay in that lane and get maybe 2 or 3 kills, then you can use that lane dominance to roam and get other lanes fed to pretty much secure the victory. Keep in mind that once you get Noonquiver, a Cloak of Agility and Berserker's Greaves you are pretty much a dps machine, due to the fact that Yasuo's Steel Tempest cd caps with the boots and the Noonquiver, giving you a nice cd of 1.33 seconds.

Late Game

Late game Yasuo is the best because once you get your Infinity Edge and one lifesteal item online, you are unkilable. If your team comp has some knockups, be sure to stay near those champions, because if they land a good knockup, you can essentially pull off a 4 or 5-man Last Breath.
