One build i don't see a lot of people doing for yi is hybrid master yi. People either go ap or ad but get yelled at for some each of the 2 builds flaws. Ap has to wait on uber long cool downs if you don't get a kill with ult activated and until they get their e their auto attacks won't save them. Ad yi suffers from a weak early game and seems to shine only is fed a few kills and/or a lot of farm. What hybrid does easily is messes up the person they are laning against forceing them to have to get magic resist and armor. Hybrid yi can easily survive going and do a ton of damage early to mid to late game. He also has the ability to go any lane or even jungle and do a nice job. I have been able to 1v1 against fed champs and still live while more then half hp. Hybrid Yi focuses heavily on a quick burst of spells starting with useing your ult then q then auto attack lichbane and then useing gunblade and then activate e auto attack. Lichbane is an item you have to get as master yi because without it he gets very weak soo its a good idea to rush it. Hybrid yi also like a constent stream of blue buffs but he can easily survive without it for a while. Its also a good idea to jump in and out of fight weather then staying the whole time. Try to jump in when your team starts its first burst of attacks or when the enemy team's cc, that aren't slows, are gone.
