Welcome to my Xayah guide! I plan to keep this guide update and add to it over time. I've tried to organize the best I can and make it as visually engaging as I could. I'm not the greatest writer but I just wish to share my knowledge and my love for the The Rebel.

This guide is work in progress and I will be updating and finishing it as soon as I can. Please feel free to suggestions and just as another heads up it is not complete just yet. If you like the guide please vote as it helps a lot or leave some feedback to improve on.

Xayah huddled at a corner table, pretending to scribble notes on some old maps. A Vastayan dancer across the bar captured the room's attention with a flamboyant performance, lulling the audience into an easy mood. Xayah made eye contact with the Vastayan and nodded toward an Ionian soldier sitting in the back row. Time to move. The dancer flashed a knowing smile and leapt toward the soldier, letting loose a vicious kick. With bar-goers scrambling away from the brawl, Xayah surged across the room, hurling a storm of feathers. The soldier collapsed, and The Rebel's job was done.

Xayah can quickly Clean Cut through whole waves of minions, shredding their ranks with a single auto. This ability works much the same way in team fights, where Xayah can punish enemy back liners with feathery shrapnel while focusing on wearing down front line tanks.

When a bad guy comes after Xayah and Deadly Plumage activates, she becomes the undisputed queen of kiting. With her basic attacks leaving Feathers in her wake, anyone chasing her in a straight line is just asking to get stuffed by Bladecaller. If they're still hungry for poultry after that, they've gotta fight through a raging Featherstorm before finishing off the Rebel.
Because her feather traps take time to set up, Xayah isn't as great as other ADCs at capitalizing on enemy mistakes and catching opponents off guard with a first strike. She prefers carefully preening her lane with Feathers, Waiting for an aggressor to make the first move.

Xayah's lack of mobility forces her to lean heavily on Bladecaller for self-peel, and any champ that can avoid the stun will find it fairly easy to stick to her. The Rebel works best when she's safely behind Rakan (or any other support), letting them tank any unwanted attention.
Some ADCs can charge straight into combat and start blowing stuff up, but Xayah works best if you take some time to create a game play. Smart Xayah players will use minion waves to plant fields of barbed Feathers, daring opponents to step within their range. When the battle begins, the Rebel gracefully flits around the outskirts of the conflict, slicing up targets with Double Daggers and using her Feathers to create a zone of control. When the fighting gets hot, Feathstorm can save Xayah from the mayhem or smother her enemies The best Xayah players will use her ult to achieve both at once, using the brief untargetability to dodge an enemy ultimate while also surging forward to spike with knives and feathers. If Xayah's good, you won't notice her at all - until, suddenly, she's swooping in for the kill.

Overall Xayah is fun and unique with her connection to Rakan and overall a very cool character. She is focused around her feathers which can be extremely strong if positioned correctly. Her kiting is strong due to Bladecaller. She can poke in lane with Q and clear really well. Her W is great for taking out towers or shredding the enemy when Rakan is nearby. Her ultimate Featherstorm is really good for getting lots of feathers out quickly or dodging CC and damage that would stop her from fighting. This makes her really good in team fights and if not targeted a foe to be reckoned with.

- Weaker early/laning
- Tricky to position at times
- Can't fly around the map :P

Unfortunately due to her feathers requiring setup she can lack pressure and damage against more mobile ADCs. As well, her feathers need to be thrown out and if the fight is not long enough she can be left without the ability to stun. Xayah is immobile and at times this can lead to her more easily being jumped on and stopped. She does not have the greatest laning phase / early game and this means you need to play a little safer. Positioning in fights is key to keep yourself safe, and put out as much damage as possible without getting caught out, just remember not to front line.

For each Ability the in game description is listed for scaling, damage and cool down and animations to demonstrate the ability.

After using an ability, Xayah's next 3 basic attacks will hit all targets along their path and leave a Feather for 6 seconds.

The main target of her empowered attack takes full damage and on-hits while other targets take 50% damage. Xayah can store up to 5 empowered attacks.

Xayah has a unique passive which is great for clearing waves, poking and most importantly setting up Feathers. It can take a bit of getting use to while using her passive as you need to attack from the correct angle to position them correctly but once you play you'll get good at it quickly. Once you get your attack speed items it becomes extremely effective for clearing waves and setting up quicker for Bladecaller.

You will get a lot out of this passive if you line up a wave and use Q to damage the minions and get 3 stacks to start taking out the wave. You will pretty much be able to take out the mage minions early with this combo. As well as farming lane it can be used extremely effectively on jungle camps with multiple monsters. While poking just try to hit them behind the minions as often people ignore the poke damage but it adds up over time.

Feathers stacks will show under the health bar and are limited to 5. With this limit, it is best to only use an ability when you have 2 or less as this means you won't lose any excess stacks.

Xayah throws two knives dealing 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+ 100%) physical damage and leaving two Feather. Targets hit after the first take 50% damage.

Cost: 50 Mana
Cooldown: 10 / 9 / 8 / 7 / 6

First comes her Q ability which is a very simple and typical projectile skill shot. It may be simple but it is extremely good in clearing minions or monsters when combined with your passive Feathers. It has pretty good scaling with you AD and has good base damage up to 240 at level 18. Overall it has a good cool down with a low price and is your primary source of poke and your best farming tool.

For clearing waves its as simple as lining up with the minions as they approach and throwing your Q down the middle, followed up by simple empowered basic attacks. Clearing most jungle camps are just a case of positioning to hit all of the monsters. In lane you will use it a lot but just remember not to spam it to much until Essence Reaver or you might find yourself out of mana.

A simple trick for a quick stun to catch them off guard is simply using Q and one basic attack followed by Bladecaller when the feathers stop. This can be very effective at stopping an enemy support walking into you or just to escape from someone chasing you. It can also be used combined with your supports CC (preferably Rakan :P) and can sometimes lead to a kill. If you find the enemy getting away with low how you can most often grab them with you edge of your Q as it has a decent range and you can close a small amount of distance with your Deadly Plumage.

Overall the scaling is rather strong as it grants anywhere from (300-400) with the late game AD. Combine this with the 240 at 18 and you have an ability that hits like a truck. Unfortunately it bleeds 50% of that damage after the Feathers hit the first target but that doesn't matter in team fights as much as you other abilities combine with your Q to output a lot of damage.

Xayah creates a storm of blades for 4 seconds that grant her 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% attack speed and cause her basic attacks to strike an additional time for 20% damage.

If Deadly Plumage strikes an enemy champion, Xayah Gains 30% movement speed for 1.5 seconds.

If Rakan is nearby he will also gain the effects of Deadly Plumage.

Cost: 60 / 55 / 50 / 45 / 40 Mana
Cooldown: 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12

Next is Deadly Plumage. A slightly undervalued but surprisingly good ability that is great for increasing damage over a fight or sieging as well as a boost when playing with Rakan. If underestimated this spell can do a lot of damage to the team and their turrets!

You should typically aim to use the ability after you've used your Q and basic attacked once so you don't lose Feathers to the cap, this maximizes your empowered attacks and combines with the bonus attack speed provided by Deadly Plumage. In general you should aim to use it around the middle of a fight as it doesn't last a super long time.

As you should already be aware, when Rakan he gains the effects of the ability. This allows great synergy in team fights or taking down objectives as general damage and attack speed is increased on both champions. Combined with this it can be used to help escape as it grants bonus movement speed when it strikes an enemy champion.

Combine with your Zeal items like Phantom Dancer and Runaan's Hurricane, it can give you between 1.5 and 2.0+ attack speed. This increase your rate of setup for Feathers and therefore damage output. Another quick but helpful trick is to use this ability right before your next basic attack as it will maximize the use of its short duration.

Xayah calls all Feathers back to her, dealing 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 (+ 60%) (+ 0.5% / 1% Critical Strike) physical damage to enemies they pass through.

Hitting an enemy with 3 Feather roots them for 1 second.

Minions take 50% damage from Bladecaller.

Cost: 40 Mana
Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8

Second last, comes Bladecaller, probably the most essential part of Xayah's kit. The ability returns all Feathers, dealing damage and the way back. It grants a Root if 3 or more hit a single target and deals less damage as they pass through and only 50% damage to minions. Its scaling is slightly weird but allows for insane damage late game.

This ability can save you, or cause your death. Try not to use it unless your have a confirmed root on the enemy and plan to go in otherwise it will leave you vulnerable and harder to win a fight. Something a lot of new Xayah's do it use it right before Featherstorm making the Feathers produced useless. Though sometimes it can't be helped save it for after Ult to root the enemy. The best time to use it outside a fight is to clear a wave or a camp after using Double Daggers and basic attacks.

Like a couple other abilities in the game, Bladecaller does reduced damage to minions and less damage as it passes through enemies, though not very noticeable, it is there. Its scaling off of both Critical Strike and Attack Damage makes it extremely strong late game at 70-100% crit.

A simple trick for a quick stun and to catch them off guard is simply using Double Daggers and one basic attack followed by Bladecaller once the feathers have stopped. This can be very effective at stopping an enemy support walking into you or just to escape from someone chasing you.

Xayah leaps into the air becoming un-targetable. She then rains down daggers which deal 100 / 150 / 200 (+ 100%) physical damage and leave behind a line of Feathers.

Xayah can move while in the air.

Cost: 80 / 90 / 100 Mana
Cooldown: 140 / 130 / 120

Lastly is the all important and awesome Featherstorm. It is an extremely versatile ability for both aggressive and defensive plays. It provides the invulnerability for defense as well as the Feathers for both defense and offense. It can be used to dodge and cancel ultimates like Zed's Death Mark and Ashe's Enchanted Crystal Arrow.

In team fights it can cause havoc for the enemy team as it allows you to instantly setup a large amount of Feathers for a huge root and damage. Thought not typically used for initiating a fight, it can be very effective at catching the enemy off guard and winning a fight out right. On the other end of the scale is the defensive use. It can be used to dodge a hook or an ultimate from the enemy. This puts a lot of pressure on the enemy team as it makes it hard for them to fight when you have a get out of jail free card. When playing against another Xayah try to use yours after hers.

While in lane it can be a great way to escape a gank from the enemy or turn a fight on the enemy bot lane. If used correctly it can stun all three champions. On top of this it can turn the fight in an instant with its damage output and stun. This quick setup gives Xayah instant ability to start fighting and Featherstorm can even be used to pick off a distant target if all else fails.

If either Xayah or Rakan is recalling, the other may move nearby to join them and sync recalls.

Lover's Leap is an overlooked advantage when playing with Rakan as it allows you to push lane and get out quicker saving you CS and in turn, gold. If you time it right you can even use it to escape from an enemy if you teammate is far enough into the recall. Despite not server an incredibly large purpose it can be a very hand tool when playing with a Rakan or something to keep in mind when playing against.

For each Spell, the in game description is listed with damage and cool downs and I have also put and explanation to why I recommend them and situational spells.

Teleports your champion a short distance towards you cursor's location.

Range: 425
Cooldown: 300

Obviously taking Flash is a necessity as it grants a free escape, gap close or even just a dodge to keep you going. It combines well with Featherstorm to provide a clear and effective escape. Try to keep it for the most dire situations though as Xayah can be very immobile.

It works as a free escape from CC, damage or ganking it can put you quite some distance from the enemy. It is great if you misplay and end up without a Shunpo you can use it to dodge long range and global ultimates like Final Spark, Mega Inferno Bomb and Trueshot Barrage. In team fight if you need to reposition or jump out it can save you.

Back to Spells

Heals the caster and the allied champion nearest to the caster's cursor (or the most wounded ally if no target is near the cursor) by 90-345 health, and gives affected champions +30% movement speed for 1 seconds. Heal is 50% less effective on allies previously healed with another Summoner Spell Heal within the past 35 seconds.

Range: 850
Cooldown: 240

Like Flash, Heal is the standard spell ADC spell as being squishy sucks and a way to get a quick boost of health to survive is fun to have :P. It can be very effective in the early laning phase as Xayah's damage is delayed due to setup of Feathers and the heal lets you survive the little amount of time to finish them off.

Overall it is great for winning a fights, saving allies in a fight or your support in lane and grants a tiny amount of movement speed if you ever get greedy and want a kill (typically doesn't work out anyway).

Xayah's masteries are fairly straight forward and fairly typical of an ADC, there are some points of preference but its mostly just you standard Ferocity - 18 and Cunning - 12 with Fervor of Battle .


+0.8/1.6/2.4/3.2/4% Attack Speed.
For you first Ferocity you simply take Fury for the attack speed. It allows you to get you feathers out slightly faster and just general last hit easier. You if decided to take more Critical strike you could consider taking Sorcery for the extra damage on your Bladecaller.
T I E R 1


Killing a unit restores 20 Health.
With feathers already empowering basic I prefer going Feastfor the further sustain in lane as Xayah requires the feather setup to go in. Its handy if you up against a more poke matchup and can help you stay in lane longer.

Fresh Blood is another option but its more for a bigger burst at the start of the fight. With you combo a lot more damage comes later in a trade of fight when you activate Bladecaller. This option is still decent for some matchups.
T I E R 2

Vampirism / Natural Talent

(+0.4/0.8/1.2/1.6/2.0% Life Steal and Spell Vamp.) (+2/4/6/8/10 Attack Damage and 3/6/9/12/15 Ability Power at level 18.)
Tier three comes down to more preference, you can go full one side, the other or both. Vampirism is great for sustaining longer and staying in lane for farming. Natural Talent is good for hitting the minions slightly harder and giving you abilities just a slight bit more omph in the early.

If you are going to take Blade of the Ruined King then Vampirism is less prioritized. Depending on the match up you can vary the points between both of these masteries but in general I prefer slightly more AD and AP.
T I E R 3

Double Edged Sword

Deal 3% additional damage, take 1.5% additional damage.
For tier four *wink* its between both Double Edged Sword and Battle Trance as they both provide good stats for Xayah's style. Taking Double Edged Sword is good for consistently doing more damage and taking out the enemy faster, just remember you take more damage as well.

Because fights can be slightly longer because of preparation you can take battle trance to give you the extra damage when you pull you blades in. It comes with the bonus of no extra damage but is not always consistent to finish someone off.
T I E R 4

Battering Blows

+1.4/2.8/4.2/5.6/7% Armour Penetration.
Here comes tier 5, this is pretty obvious and not much to say. Take Battering Blows as Xayah is an ADC it allows you to get through any early Armour as well if necessary. Don't take Piercing Thoughts unless you evil and go AP Xayah.
T I E R 5

Fervor of Battle

Hitting champions with basic attacks generate a Fervor stack (2 for melee attacks). Stacks of Fervor last 8 seconds (max 8 stacks) and increase your AD by 1-8 for each stack.

Fervor of Battle is great on Xayah as it works well with her setup and gets her stacks while preparing. While you are throwing out feathers at your foe you gain Fervor stacks for the fight. You can use Deadly Plumage with it quite well combined with Rakan. I prefer it over Warlord's Bloodlust as Xayah is a very back line ADC and shouldn't be getting overly close in the fight anyway.

Due to lower amounts of AD and the setup for feathers, I wouldn't recommend Deathfire Touch . You better off with Fervor or Warlords to stay close or deal more damage in longer fights.


Basic attacks and single target spells deal 1/2/3/4/5 bonus damage to minions and monsters.
For Tier one in the Cunning tree its simple. Savagery Grants you bonus damage to minions and monsters which is nicely combined with Xayah's already amazing clearing. Wanderer isn't neccessary because Xayah doesn't really need extra movement speed out of combat if you build Berserker's Greaves early enough.
T I E R 1

Secret Stash

Your Potions and Elixirs last 10% longer. You Health Potions are replaced with Biscuits that restore 15 Health and Mana instantly on use.
Tier two is easy again, just take Secret Stash as it grants 10% longer potions and elixirs and on top of that you health potions grant a small amount of mana and health on use. Don't take Assassin as your Xayah and you want to be fighting with either a teammate or obviously Rakan. Runic Affinity isn't really necessary as its more of a jungler mastery.
T I E R 2


Deal 0.6/1.2/1.8/2.4/3% increased damage to champions below 40% Health.
Merciless is our option for this Tier, it grants increased damage to enemy champions below 40% health. Its good for going for a kill after poking down in lane and is also generally good for helping finish someone off. During team fight it is also great for after the all in and when everyone is below 40% health to finish them off. Don't take Meditation as Essence Reaver solver any Mana problems you might have at the start of the game already.
T I E R 3

Dangerous Game

Champion kills and assists restore 5% of your missing Health and Mana.
For our final mastery, Tier 4 taking Dangerous Game is preferable. It restores 5% of you Mana and Health when you get an assist or kill. This is good for early and mid game as you shouldn't build life steal until later. Its also good for sustaining lane or pushing it in if you get a gank and force one of both enemies out of lane.

Bandit is more for supports and you don't need it because Xayah farms great anyway. Greenfather's Gift is better on assassins for the surprise burst out of a bush.
T I E R 4

In this section I went through and explained what Marks, Seals, Glyphs and Quints to take to take and why I recommend using them.

For you Runes you will be taking 9x Greater Mark of Attack Damage, 9x Greater Seal of Armor, 9x Greater Glyph of Magic Resist and 3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed.

Attack Damage

Greater Mark of Attack Damage x 9 are the choice as it gives you 8.5 Attack Damage. These are good for giving your basic attacks that little extra oomph for lasting hitting and out trading your opponent in lane.


Greater Seal of Armor x 9 should be your choice as it grants 9 Armor. They are great as it provides damage reduction against the enemy ADC in lane and allows her to take more hits in a fight or to survive a gank easier.

Magic Resists

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist x 9 are what you want to take giving you 12.1 Magic Resist. The magic resist is good as it helps against the AP support match ups reducing the damage they put out in a fight against you.

Attack Speed
Greater Quintessence of Attack Speed x 3 is the trio you want as it grants an extra 13.5% Attack Speed. This provides that extra attack speed that lets you setup your daggers even quicker in lane. It also helps provides great scaling late game when combined with a Zeal item or two for extremely fast deployment of feathers. Hello

Starting Items

Doran's Blade is the typically start for most ADCs and for good reason. It give AD, Health and Life Steal. It provides that little bit of necessary max health and sustain for farming and remaining in lane. It allows for only one Health Potion but that isn't a problem if you play safely enough.

Starting Long Sword is for when you need to sustain of three Health Potions due to the match up. It doesn't provide the stats that Doran's Blade does but it builds into Caulfield's Warhammer. Take it when you are playing against a poke match up like Caitlyn.

Boot Choices

Again, another standard ADC item. The boot of choice Berserker's Greaves which grants 35% Attack speed to allow you to setup fast. Building this is fairly standard in almost all match ups and getting it early is really helpful for Clean Cuts

You swap Berserker's Greaves for Ninja Tabi late game for defense if you find yourself taking too much damage to survive in fights or just being assassinated. Though Featherstorm protects you a lot it can be helpful to have some defense so you can build more damage items.

Core Items

Essence Reaver is a great and mostly necessary item on Xayah as it deals with all her mana problems if you struggle with managing it and also increases your Cooldown Reduction over the course of a fight. It also grants a good amount of Attack Damage and Critical Strike for Bladecaller allowing you to deal lots of damage early and combines well with Infinity Edge and gets you to 100% Critical Strike late game.

Next in the core items is your Zeal item of choice. I won't write anything here as I will explain it in the next category but it is for place holding this part of Core.

After getting a Zeal item comes Infinity Edge. The most iconic ADC item ever! It is a simple item providing 70 Attack Damage and 20% Critical Strike like Essence Reaver but increase all Critical Strike damage by 50%. Extremely strong item for the late game when you have 70-100% Crit.

Zeal Items

At first glance Runaan's Hurricane is not an obvious choice, but it is stronger than you might think. It may not activate Feathers with Clean Cuts but it provides a good amount of damage with the bolts and when combined with Deadly Plumage. It provides a lot of Critical Strike and Attack Speed on top of its passive. It is also effective at finishing off minions if after using your Feathers.

The alternate (or ahead option, swap Lord Dominik's Regards for this) to Runaan's Hurricane. It is amazing for dueling the enemy ADC or anyone willing to fight you. On top of that passive you can also move through unites making it much easier to position your Feathers for a fight of just clearing minons in lane. It provides similar stats to all other Zeal items making it a good option of Xayah.

Life Steal

The Bloodthirster is your main choice for most games as the life steal and over heal stack up quick with Xayah's attack speed. While building I would recommend building a Vampiric Scepter first because at this point in the game you will need the life steal and if you need to switch to a Blade of the Ruined King or Mercurial Scimitar you can. Other than that the 80 attack damage is great to have and overall it is a strong item to take on any ADC.

Now comes the more tank shredder item, when combined with The Black Cleaver or Lord Dominik's Regards grants you the ability to absolutely shred tanks. Unfortunately it gives less life steal but it's a good trade off for the active slow allowing you to more easily chase down. Once again it has a lot of good stats for Xayah with both attack speed and attack damage.

This is obviously situational but can really help in CC heavy matchups. Though your ult Featherstorm is good for dodging a lot of CC it is not always up and sometimes you need it during prolonged fights. Its has weaker stats for its cleanse active but makes up for it with the ability to build a Quicksilver Sash as an early defense if you are against a support like Leona or Nami, it can keep you throwing out that damage.

Armor Penetration

Not too much to talk about with The Black Cleaver as it is situational and works better when combined with Blade of the Ruined King. If you aren't going for 100% crit then this should typically be in build. Due to its Phage passive it is great for helping chase down enemies as well as your Deadly Plumage movement boost.

Similar to the rest of the other Armour Penetration items it's fairly basic when it comes to choices. Buy this against the typical tank Garen, Nautilus etc. For late game it provides good stats. So yea.. Even less to say...

The alternate to Lord Dominik's Regards, build when they have a lot of life steal and it will also give the Last Whisper passive for the more tanky champs. If you are playing against people like Draven try to build an Executioner's Calling slightly earlier than most due to his early life steal build.

Defensive Items

This is your earlier defense against burst choice. General magic resists stats but a simple Hexdrinker can be built instead of the full thing if you are in a lane against someone like Blitzcrank. But I would recommend building a full Maw of Malmortius if they have a LeBlanc or Katarina to increase your ability to survive and kill them.

Probably the most common defense if built on Xayah. It now provides the bonus AD and Armour combined with its revive passive. It is great for a sustained fight and gives you a good amount of defense with a Phantom Dancer to duel the enemy ADC. It can help you survive an assassin burst but can sometimes leave you vulnerable if the fight does not last long enough. Overall a great item and the preferable option if you do build a defense item.

Marksman Matchups

Support Matchups

Early Game
Due to the nature of Xayah she is at her strongest when she has the chance to set up her Feathers. That is why supports with good peel or lock down work really well with her, some examples being Leona and Rakan. Because of this she is weak during her early levels 1-3 until Bladecaller as it allows her to self peel or lock down the opposing ADC or Support. Overall she is quite passive in laning phase unless the enemy makes steps out of position for her to all in and post 6 she can become a really strong if played correctly.
