Introduction
~Sorry for my lack of knowledge on making a guide, I'm still quite new to this.~
Runes
I find the best marks for Irelia are desolation! They allow you to hit even harder in the beginning which in the end = profit!
The best suited roles for seals are flat armor, as they add to your early game survivability!
The best suited glyphs are also defensive, and those are flat magic resist, as they also add to your early game suvivability!
And finally, the best quints for Irelia in my oppinion are movement, because with your boots, masteries and these quints, you'll be zipping around the damn map!
I find starting out with Regrowth Pendant and a Health Potion, as it'll let you survive for a long *** time if played nicely.
At your first recall, you should hopefully have around 1600+ so you can get yourself a nice Philospher's Stone, Heart of Gold and Boots. These items should keep you in lane for a very long time.
AT your next recall, you should start going for your Mercury Treads and Trinity Force, starting with a Sheen, then your Mercury Treads, going for Phage, then a Zeal. After that, your should be hitting quite hard, and should be able to handle most kinds of CC quite nicely.
After your Trinity Force, start going for a Warmog's Armor, which will give your the tanky-ness everyone dreams about. After you MASSIVE amount of HP you get for that lovely peice of equipment, why not keep it up with a Force of Nature, again giving your alot more survivability!
Your almost done here. If your game is still going or your just demoliting your opponents, sell your Philosopher's Stone or Heart of Gold and get Atma's Impaler, and then Guardian Angel. Once your all done, you should never be dying, and always getting kills, or kill-secures ;)

This is my personal favorite skill sequence on Irelia, it allows for early game harrasment and good damage.
Starting out with will allow for easy minion kills. Getting will allow for a simple early-game burst damage, which can hit quite a bit. At level 3, get Hitten Style so you can deal true damage and heal every hit!
