Hey guys, it's JefferXpr3ss here with my first official in depth guide to a League of Legends champion. This time I will be showing you a guide to League of Legend's newest champion, Pyke. It has been very controversial over what role he should be playing to utilize his dangerous burst damage and stealth while still remaining as a team player. I do believe the best role for him, agreeing with Riot, as you can tell by the name of this build, is that he servers his purpose best at Support. I have several reasons for this. First, Supports are not meant just to "protect" the ADC or "get the ADC fed." While this can be a job of the support,it is a common misconception that a Support is only for the ADC and cannot and should not be a damage-dealing, kill-taking assassin. There just has not been anything like this before, but that does not mean it cannot happen now. Okay, now that we have that misconception somewhat cleared up, I want to take a look at Pyke's purpose for a team, or how he can be used effectively. In my honest opinion, Pyke is not JUST a support, in terms of protecting the ADC. While this is somewhat objectively possible, with his CC and mobility, it is not using him to his full potential. Once he gets about 7 to 10 minutes into the laneing phase, around 12-15 minutes into the game, he basically becomes a support for not just the ADC, but for the jungler and the mid laner. This is because of the runes he has, and boots of mobility which allow for insanely high movement speed in the river making him a great roamer. He should really only do this though if his ADC is backing, dead, or occasionally if the lane is pushed up. When I say Pyke is a good support, I mean he is a TEAM support, not an ADC support. Hes not NOT a support, he is just a different type of support. Basically, this build is to utilize his great ganking potential as a roaming support that can help the Bot laner, Mid laner and jungler, but of course, the majority of his XP and farm comes from bot lane where he will assist the ADC early game. Now, let's get into the build.

These runes are fairly straight forward assassin runes with a slight twist. Domination and Sorcery. Along the Domination route, we take Electrocute, the really only viable rune for an Assassin whose sole job is to deal damage and kill. Sudden Impact is pretty obvious given Pyke's E which is basically your stereotypical dash. Zombie ward to go with Duskblade so we can destroy enemy runes and put our ward in its place. A pretty good rune for a support assuming it was an assassin which in this case it is. And finally relentless hunter because again, more movements speed for takedowns. Then along the sorcery route, to make Pyke even faster, we have Celerity and Waterwalking, both very good for roaming. This is what I believe to be the most effective set of runes for Pyke to utilize his movement speed and make him even more effective. The additional runes we take are 2 runes of adaptive force and one for health. This is the most effective way to get pyke even more damage for him to do what he does best, being assassination.

The starting items are fairly straight forward, you take relic shield because that is the easiest way for Pyke to get gold while he supports, being a melee champ, and then 3 health potions etc. For the essential items, it is almost a necessity to get boots of mobility on pyke to make roaming easier, and to make escaping from a fight easier. Pyke excels when he has high mobility making these boots a necessity. Targon's brace is very important for getting more charges to gain gold and be able to buy more expensive items. The Final Build is just upgraded relic shied (Eye of the Aspect), boots of Mobility, Duskblade, Youmuu's, Edge of night and guardian angel. This is basically the classic item set for any assassin really, and pyke is no exception. He needs a lot of lethality for his burst damage and lots of damage to back that burst up.

The abilities are fairly simple, you want to max out your Q first given its usefulness against any enemy trying to run away from you. Then your E because of its near impossible to miss stun that can almost guarantee a kill if used properly. And then you will finish with your W which really only need one or two upgrades to be strong in this case. And of course upgrading you R whenever you can, level 6, 11, and 16.

With all of this being said, I hope you all consider Pyke Support because in my mind, it is not only a fun strategy but a viable strategy that a lot of people think is not very effective but clearly, it CAN work if done properly.
