Kai'sa is still a good adc even in the crazy current meta and that's because she doesn't rely on crit so she didn't really get nerfed with the other Marksman

The runes you will usually take on kai'sa are pretty simple since you usually only take precision and sorcery.

Precision

The reason why most players take precision on kai'Sa is because it synergizes well with your passive so you can get your plasma stacks faster.

Fleet Footwork

Fleet Footwork did get nerfed during the 8.11 patch but I still think its good on kai'sa since it helps compensate your low range, make sure when you have 100 energy stacks to try to aim for melee minions and melee supports for the most healing, fleet footwork is great on kai'sa because the healing is based on ap ratio's so going AP kai'sa will benefit you more, it also helps to get that dorans ring as your starting item.

Triumph

Triumph is great for those clutch fights where it can save your life, the extra gold also helps

Legend: Alacrity

Legend: alacrity is the most useful out of the other options it also helps to snowball by and giving extra attack speed that can come in handy with your Plasma Stacks

Coup De Grace

Coup de grace is good in most situations since it helps with dealing that last bit of damage to enemy champions it can also help in team fights where you pick off an enemy because it gives you adaptive damage for 10 seconds when you get
a takedown

Cut Down

Cut down is good in exceptions where the enemy team is overwhelmingly tanky.



Sorcery
Taking Sorcery is mandatory on kai'sa and most marksman because of gathering storm but its also good for giving you an extra amount of AP making your Passive do more damage



Celerity
Celerity also helps with your limited escape giving you extra MS it also gives AP or AD adaptive when you have bonus MS, this means that it has great synergy with other Runes/abilities like fleet footwork and your E



Gathering Storm
Gathering storm is mandatory for most Marksman because it gives you crazy stats when it hits the late game, if the enemy Marksman doesn't have it you will be at a huge advantage

Kai'sa is a pretty unique marksman because she can either go AP or AD, they did nerf her Passive plasma stacks so she does less AP on auto but they did buff her W AP ratio, both builds have Pros and cons, in this section il go over each individual item.


STARTING ITEMS
SAFE/NORMAL





Going doran's shield is the best for players who are new to Kai'sa it also helps when you're facing your counters like Lucian, Jhin, Kog'Maw, Draven, and ezreal.



PLAYING WITH POKE SUPP/STANDARD/EVEN MATCHUP





This is really good since it gives you more healing from Fleet footwork, it's great when your playing with an aggressive supp like Zyra, Brand, and Morgana you can spam your abilities and its a very popular starting item when players are going AP kai'Sa.


SUPER AGGRESIVE/SMURF





This is the most reckless starting item and I don't recommend it unless you hard counter the enemy bot lane or you're a smurf.


AP KAI'SA

Full Build


Guinsoo's RageBlade

Rageblade is a great item on Kai'sa it helps you stack your Passive giving you a ton of DPS on single targets it also has a pretty good build path this item is built with AP and AD kai'sa and is a core Item




Berserker's greaves

this is usualy an essential item on marksmen





Nashor's Tooth

this item is really great for the early game because it also has a great build path and you usualy hit a power spike after completing it




Rabadon's Deathcap

The build path is really bad for rabadons but its necessary, if you want to do even more insane damage once you finish stacking your plasma stacks you will burst the enemy its also gives you insane damage with your W since they increased the AP dmg ratio in patch 8.11



Void Staff

this item is useful when the enemy starts to build MR.





Zhonya's Hourglass

This is a good safe item that can make you win or lose a team fight depending on how you use it of course in some games it doesn't really help since by the time you use it you already lost the team fight so il talk about potential items that can replace it.






Mercurial Scimitar

I know its not an AP item but if you build it you get all of your evolutions not to
mention it can help you escape from Hard CC.






maw of malmortius

this is another AD item that can get you all of your evolutions and help against strong Mages that can one-shot you.





guardian angel

this item is okay it can be of use but I prefer Zhonya's hourglass because it will give you more damage and will have basically the same effect, this item also does not give you your Q evolution.




AD KAI'SA full build


Now for AD kai'sa you will build Guinsoo's Rageblade for your first item just like you would if you were going AP Kai'sa

Essence Reaver

This item is really good on AD kai'sa the only problem is that its pretty ex*****ve, the best kai'sa NA loves to build this item first.




Runaan's Hurricane

This makes kai'sa pretty scary since you can use your stack on multiple targets when your done with this item you should have your Q & E evolutions which can make you a pretty big threat.




Infinity Edge

Infinity Edge along with every crit item got nerfed in patch 8.11 making the meta pretty funky this item is still good on kai'sa although it works better the more crit you buy and since you only have Runaan's hurricane it's not amazing but it will still give you some good damage and its good against Bruisers because 15% Crit damage is converted to True damage, I see one trick kai'sa players also sometimes changing this item for something like a mortal reminder/lord dominiks regards.
