If she lands E you will get chunked so take care. Don't get poked, dodge her E/bait her E out and you will do just fine. If she messed up her E go for a trade.
At 6 you should try to bait her R and then wait it out unless you can kill her before she dashes away. Try to kill her when her R is down.
Akali
Respect her lvl 1. Farm with Q from safety.
Do your best to always dodge her E.
Bait out her shroud with fake aggression then fight her when its down.
Even though you may be more fed than her do not underestimate Akali's damage.
If Akali has a good grasp on her champion she should always win. She can dodge your daggers effectively and is extremely difficult to 1 v 1.
Anivia
Anivia is an annoying match up.
She will poke you whenever you try to cs and her passive makes it hard to kill her in lane.
If you all in her do your best to kill her (get her to eggform) before she gets in tower range. Unless someone comes to save her should be free kill from there.
Annie
Annie is another really annoying match up.
If she uses her stun stack on minions you want to look to trade immediately, before she gets her stun up again.
Her E is really annoying because the movement speed bonus can make her run out of dagger range and she now gets a shield instead of damage mitigation.
Careful for her lvl 6. With R she can quickly go from 1 stack to stun.
Aurelion Sol
This is one of your easiest match ups. Dodge his Q and he is the easiest kill of your life.
Azir
Azir is relatively easy, especially considering the fact that he is one of the hardest champions in the game, and he isn't amazing in the Soloq environment.
Avoid getting poked and don't all in him if he is near his turret and has R, he can push you into turret with it.
If the Azir is good he will never allow you to E W as he will R you away from your W and make you awkwardly walk toward the dagger and possibly kill you as you try to reach it. Bait out his R and kill him when its down. He is very squishy so it shouldn't be hard.
Brand
Don't underestimate his damage even if he is behind.
In lane you want to avoid getting poked, and you absolutely want to avoid his Q. With his Q down he is vulnerable so try to trade or all in when it is down. Careful when fighting Brand after 6, his ultimate can now bounce to him as well so if you are in close proximity to him his R will bounce between you and him and deal lots of damage.
Cassiopeia
Cassiopeia's W has a grounded effect which renders you quite useless because you will be unable to use your E. Try to avoid it at all costs and try to bait it out. Trade when its down.
At 6 Cassio can ult you if you all in. A good trick to know is if u E W R after you E moveclick to face away from Cassio and continue your combo. This will take many Cassio's by surprise as they wouldn't notice that you aren't facing them so they would expect a stun.
Cho'Gath
You don't see Cho'Gath in mid often, but when you do, you will cry. He takes less and less damage as the game goes on. (this might've changed with S11 since you can build BORK as a core item now. I will update this when I face enough Cho to form a new opinion)
Cho'Gath is extremely good against Katarina. He can silence you to ensure you cannot use your E to dodge his Q. His Q cd is surprisingly low, 7 seconds without Ability Haste. The biggest threat of all on Cho'Gath will be his R. He will be able to point and click execute you for half your health bar in midgame, or even slightly more if he is really ahead. You want to keep your distance from Cho in teamfights or try to catch him before fights happen with your team.
Corki
Don't see Corki much. His poke is extremely annoying and he will punish you for last hitting. You want to watch out when you hear him pick up his package. Usually that means he will go roam somewhere so warn your teammates. His W dash is his only escape so punish him if he misuses it.
Diana
Diana has always been considered one of Katarina's hardest match ups.
She isn't as oppressive in the early levels now as she used to be so try to poke her down with Q and maybe kill her before 6, but take care after level 6. You can't really afford to press R when her R is up because she can cancel yours with hers. Even from behind, once she gets her core items she will be quite strong in teamfights. Respect her damage and shield.
Ekko
You need to be careful with Ekko. You want to try to poke him down with Q and go for short trades. I recommend Electrocute with Boneplating against Ekko. In trades ull want to Q E W to proc electrocute and E away before he gets to proc his passive and his own electrocute. He might E away from your W damage, but that's ok, you are mainly using it here to reset your E fully to get back to safety before he can trade back.
After 6 he becomes more difficult to kill. If you saw him use R at some point and it seems like he still doesn't have it back, but he is playing really aggressive all of the sudden it might be coming back up within a couple of seconds and is trying to take you by surprise. Take care.
If Ekko gets fed he is extremely dangerous since his damage is easy to apply.
Fizz
I despise this champ and ban him quite often. Other Kat players might consider him beatable, but I would rather not face him at all. He has insane damage out of nowhere. His E can make your Q disappear if he times it well. He can use his E to dodge your dagger procs. I recommend Electrocute Boneplating against Fizz, and rushing Hexdrinker would be a huge help (however the Maw of Malmortius should not be finished until it is the very last item if you don't replace it with a better item at that point. This might also be different in S11, I have yet to face a Fizz) At level 6 if you do not have Hexdrinker he can pretty much 100 to 0 you under your tower and get away if he lands R on you. Try to dodge his ult with your E.
Galio
Galio is quite a hard match up. Personally I feel this match up forces you to go for Conqueror, with BoRK rush. It is the only way to deal with him effectively. You should never stay in his Q after he uses it. Dodge his E. If he has aftershock he becomes nearly undamageable after he uses W due to the damage mitigation his W gives him paired with the defensive stat boost from procing aftershock. Don't R if his W or E are still up. When he is level 6 he can ult allies and offer them his magic shield, which will block a lot of your ability damage. Usually you would want to wait this shield out, but if you are caught in the middle of it try your best to E out of it or the knock up might put you in danger. He can use R to roam to other lanes so if he leaves lane try to keep track of where he is going and warn your teammates.
Garen
In laning phase it might be difficult to trade with Garen. Try to trade when his E is down, and if both his Q and his E are down thats even better. His W gives him a shield so keep that in mind. Garen's silence can shut you down in teamfights. His R is also a big danger if you find yourself below half hp in a teamfight. Garen does a surprising amount of damage for how tanky his is so be careful. (this is another match up which might be heavily improved by BoRk as a core item. However I am yet to face Garen)
Heimerdinger
Heimer is really squishy, but he will poke you a lot early game. Dodge his stun and rockets and try to destroy his turrets with your AOE damage as you trade with him. After 6 he might use his big R turret when you all in him and then stun you or stopwatch/Zhonya's and leave you to die to his turrents.
While he isn't a really hard match up you should respect his potential damage.
Irelia
Irelia is a hard match up, but it is winnable. DO NOT trade with her when her passive is stacked (5 stacks, her blades glow when her passive is stacked) Trade with her when he passive is down. Dodge her E or she will easily get her passive up. Getting hit by E is almost deadly. She is really strong at level 6, respect her. You don't want to go extended basic attack trades with her unless you are running Conqueror, have AD and she doesn't have you minions to Q or E to stack passive.
Karthus
Karthus isn't played mid much anymore, but if you face him he is pretty much a free kill every time he is in lane since he doesn't have any kind of mobility and his main damage early is based on his Q skillshot which is hard to land on Katarina due to her mobility.
Kassadin
Kassadin is one of the hardest match ups for Katarina in the game. He will outrade you at any stage of the game, and even if you win a trade slightly Kassadin usually goes fleetfootwork and corrupting potion for great sustain.
Getting AD early and going Conq is highly recommended against Kassadin because he takes reduced damage from AP due to his passive, so most of your damage will be basic attacks with Conq. Bork is highly recommended. His Q can interrupt your R so be careful when using it. You want to trade when his Q is down and basic attack a lot. Sadly Kassadin feels very hard to stop. Give him any kill and its over. Or let him free farm to 11-16 and its over. You need to snowball hard and end the game before Kassadin reaches late game godmode.
LeBlanc
She can outburst you easily in lane. Her E has a massive range after it latches on to you. Even if you E far away some times it will still be latched to you. If she Qs you stay away, don't let her proc the mark. If she uses W punish her for using it while its on cooldown (18-10 cd without Ability Haste).
Lissandra
Some might consider Lissandra a bigger threat then I do, but personally I find very little trouble in this match up. I personally prefer Conq into this match up with long sword start. Take extended trades if you can. Punish her for using her E, its her only escape tool. Don't ult before she used hers.
Lucian
Lucian is very opressive in the laning phase, but you outscale him into the midgame if you don't allow him to get fed. Play safe and ask jungler for ganks. If he uses his combo on the minions punish it by trading. Try not to ult until he used his dash. Don't underestimate his ult damage. Make sure you are never in the open without minions to E to as an escape, his ult alone can do most of ur hp bar.
Lux
Dodge her E and you are good to go. The poke is annoying and if she has Barrier killing her will be difficult due to her W and Barrier offering huge shielding against your damage. However she is one of the squishiest mages in the game if you are fed her shields wont matter. If you are struggling Zhonya's 3rd or 4th item would be a good option to dodge her Q E R combo.
Malzahar
Malz isn't too difficult his silence is easy to dodge and most of the time you will kill his voidlings without even having to try while trading with him. The only problem and major annoyance is that you will need to buy a QSS preferably before lvl 6.
