This is an easy match-up for Kayle because he shouldn't be able to get close to you ever, however you can't really kill him. You can W away from him, Q him to slow him (after he uses his) and you can just R when he R's. If he kills you, you mispositioned. However he will win all trades so there is no point in trying to trade because of his passive. Should just be a farm lane.
Camille
This match-up is suuper hard because any champion that can engage on Kayle is really hard for her. She blocks most of your damage with her passive shield, out trades you with her Q/W, E to engage you and R to lock you down. This match-up is such a pain in the ass, you can win it by playing on her mistakes and just trying to farm, but it's very hard otherwise.
Illaoi
This champion is just annoying as hell, though you should just be able to avoid most of her skillshots with your W. You don't have any major kill pressure on her until you are Level 6 and you can sustain most of her damage with Corrupting pot/Biscuits/Fleet/W. After 6, try poke her down, then kill her, since she can't kill you with your R and kiting.
Aatrox
Even though Aatrox has been nerfed a lot, he is still a bully and though you can kill him he really sucks to play against since he can just spam his abilities on you pre and post 6 when you're farming. He has a lot of kill pressure on you but this match-up is very skill based.
Tryndamere
dodge
On a serious note, Tryndamere is a hard match-up because he will be able to kill you at mainly all stages of the game. He can pressure you off farm just at Level 1, can kill you post 6 since his R duration is longer than yours, has better sustain and scales well with CDR. This matchup is ban worthy since Tryndamere will always be a better split pusher than you are and will just run you down. You can win this by playing off his mistakes but otherwise it's a really difficult matchup.
Irelia
You do outscale Irelia, however the early game against Irelia is severely painful because of her mobility and all in potential on you as Kayle is vulnerable to all engage champions as she is so squishy. Just chill back and farm with your Q/E and try W her E when she comes to engage on you. Just try not to feed her as you will just outscale eventually.
Gangplank
Gangplank is just a really annoying matchup to play because he's just going to spam you with Q early game and the casual E if he lands it, though he isn't much of a threat since you can sustain his damage and dodge his E's with your W movement speed. You have the range advantage so just sustain his poke until you get 6 then start poking him down to kill him after. Though don't underestimate his damage, he does hurt.
Nasus
I didn't want to put this in 'Extreme' since you can counterplay Nasus, however, this requires good kiting, phase rush, and a team with CC. And a jungler.
This matchup is hard for the reason that he can free stack since your damage is a tickle to him early game and depending on his item build, probably mid/late game too. Not only can he free stack but he can slow both you and your attack speed with his W, lower your already low as heck armor with E and just run you down with his 250 stacks he probably has since you require a jungler to slightly punish him since he sustains everything you throw at him. Matchup is really hard but isn't completely unwinnable since you can QSS his slow/use phase rush if you want to kite him out since that's Nasus's weakness and your R blocks most of his damage, if your team has a ton of CC that's even better.
Akali
Akali is a mediocre matchup; since she lost a lot of her Q poke due to higher energy costs she isn't as annoying to play against early game as she isn't spamming your health bar away little by little and since her R1 is target champion only it gives her easier counterplay now (apart from her W) but you can just R her second R. it's about an even matchup now but she still does a lot of damage even if she's been nerfed a lot.
Maokai
One of Kayle's easiest matchups since it's practically a free farm lane as Maokai is just a CC-healing machine. Beware of the enemy jungler since if Maokai can get close to you it's probably a free kill and can easily towerdive you with his jungler, however apart from that this lane should be pretty free and you should be able to scale nicely.
Darius
You're never going to beat Darius pre-6 unless the guy literally runs under your turret or misplays terribly so you'll probably have to give up a lot of cs against Darius. Stay by your turret until 6 since a good Darius will take ignite/ghost and run you down with nimbus cloak if you dare step up. After 6 the match-up still isn't automatically won but he loses a lot of kill pressure on you from just being ranged alone and your ultimate, however ghost gives him that gap closer so you have to position well. It's a skill match-up on both ends, but rush boots, it helps
Jax
This is one of Kayle's hardest matchups by far. He can dodge all your auto's, out damage you and is more tanky than you are. You will have no kill pressure on him unless his E is down, and even then he will probably still out damage you with just a Q and W. I'm not saying it's completely unwinnable for Kayle, but you have to be a god awful Jax player to lose this matchup. You're going to need assistance with this matchup, you're going to have to play far back the whole game and play around your team and just hope you don't get dove. Would recommend banning/dodging this
Teemo
Nobody likes playing against Teemo, but before Level 6 this matchup is hell. He's just going to poke you out the whole laning phase, you won't be able to walk up to farm, he'll blind you if you try to trade and you're going to need to buy an oracles. After 6 this is just purely a difference on how you both play, take sustain runes and if your mental doesn't go boom by Level 6 then you may have a chance at winning a fight, but I wouldn't recommend trying unless you catch him on a mistake.
Mordekaiser
Pretty easy match-up. He doesn't have a lot of kill pressure on you post 6 and you can answer to a lot of his damage through sustain, and if you buy a QSS the champ is next to useless against you. Just dodge his E's and you'll be able to farm fine.
Cho'Gath
Just really annoying to play against, he has kill pressure on you if he can land his Q and does a lot of damage due to his high ratios, though it's purely skill since it's a matter of dodging and positioning in this matchup, I would say you both have the same amount of kill pressure on each other but try not to get silenced if you are in a state to be executed by his R since you won't be able to flash or R his damage. His R CD is pretty short and can probably have 2 R's by the time you have one, so keep track of his CD's before fighting him.
Dr. Mundo
He's hard in the state that he will outdamage you and outsustain you since he gets magic resist for free off his E passive, and since Kayle is mainly AP damage it's a bit more difficult to do damage. If you would like you can build an early executioners and build on hit damage into him like BOTRK, Rageblade, Mortal reminder, Wits end, or AP versions of these items e.g Morello, Void staff, Sorcs, etc. Once his R is down it's easier to 1v1 him, though don't get into melee range of his E and dodge his Q's if possible because it WILL hurt if he maxes it first (which a good Mundo will).
Fiora
Purely a skill matchup. She can dodge your abilities with her W and has a lot of sustain and her R is on a shorter cooldown than yours so she can use that period of time to all in you while yours is down. It depends on how you play and if you time your abilities correctly against hers. But she's just annoying as hell.
Yasuo
I mean, I hate playing against this champion with a passion and I don't see him top lane often but when I do it makes me want to slam my keyboard into my monitor, but yeah there's not much to do but hope the Yasuo misplays, since it can be easy for some Yasuo's to do that. This matchup is all about timing really, dodging his Q's, fighting him when his windwall is down and R'ing at the right time. He definitely has an advantage due to his kit just being completely overloaded, but this matchup as I said before is more playing on mistakes than it is 'skill'. (If only we had old Kayle E... sigh... fuck your windwall Yasuo).
Urgot
Let's put it like this: if the Urgot has a braincell, this matchup is probably unplayable. Can push you off farm at level 1, will win trades and extended trades, has more healing and is more tanky than you and obviously has CC. Kind of lucky his pickrate is low, it is rising but this matchup sucks. I can't really give much advice on how to win this matchup because I've never really played into it, but the one time I did haha that was fun watching 50% of my HP disappear level 1 since his cheese is really good. I guess just.. play safe?
Wukong
Oh boy who doesn't love being airborne twice in a row! And even better not being able to use your R or flash during it yay! You aren't really going to be able to 1v1 Wukong:
A) More damage than you early game
B) Clone
C) Armor. Lot's of it off his passive. Big nono.
D) Spins and more spins, lot's of airborne's happening around here
I guess you contest him after Level 6 and play safe, give up cs where you need and just don't feed 4head
Vayne
Do I even need to type something for this?
Okay well if you made it without going 0/3 before Level 6 congratulations, and good luck.
Renekton
FLEEEEET. People say this is an easy matchup but tbh I don't think it is. This guy literally HURTS so bad the lane is painful, especially now with the BOTRK changes. Of course you 'outscale' him, but you're probably going to get towerdived a lot, I guess just dodge his E and don't get hit by W after 6 and you might get to win the 1v1!
Lucian
Same as Vayne, except maybe worse.
Quinn
RANGED. AND IT CHEESES. Okay but this birdie will make your lane NON EXISTANT. Cs? What's that? Not here. You being 70% hp at any point of the game if you walk up? Not here. She has so much kill pressure on you especially since she takes ignite, so if you ever have the pleasure of running into a Quinn, well, you're not in it for a fun time, and that goes for every other top laner too.
Vladimir
Skill matchup tbh. I think you scale both the same, maybe Vladimir scaling just a bit better though you do get your abilities off quicker than he does. If you can bait his W then yeah it should be a free fight for you, but most times he's just going to block your R damage/rest of your damage with his W if you do decide to all in him to either use it to not take damage from him instead of using it for damage. Early executioners is good here.
Kled
Dodge his Q, don't let him get his W on you, and it should be slightly winnable after 1 item. You want to dodge a lot of his early damage because he will dive you if you're not careful, so give up CS where need be.
Malphite
Rock boi go smash. I hate this champion, he could be 0/6 and still have a purpose just because of his ult (for the love of god lower his ap ratios, tanks shouldn't be one shotting you!!) you can sustain most of his early poke and he can't get to you cause of your W, but level 6 ironically is when you should be worried. You can try predict his R with your own but it rarely happens, specifically you might have you use your flash. If he builds full AP then yeah after his R he has nothing and is an easier kill but if he builds tank then it'll be a little bit harder to do much against him. This is just a positioning matchup.
