P.S. Rod of Ages already ignored! Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it. I gave you a +rep to show my appreciation.

I like to test stuff and try out builds. Since I'm an engineer(ing student xD) I always calculate stuff first, if it seems viable I try it live to see if I'm right.
Liandry's Torment based on my calcs deals 100-200 magic damage over 3 seconds, and Kat is able to keep that on without a problem, with the addition of 70AP, 200 HP and 15 MPen which should do pretty well. And comparing AP scale on skills I don't really see any item (maybe except Void Staff) that can reach the same damage potential. Oh yea and slowed targets take double damage from it... Rylai's Crystal Scepter again :D. So you can buy that Haunting Guise early and keep it, then upgrade later.
On the part about Haunting Guise and the new item. I understand that may be a nice item in the main build to have eventually, but until the time when Seson 3 patch comes out, I won't be updating it for that. I take Haunting Guise almost all the time now, but I sell it late game as the stats are mediocre late game and don't provide as much as other items. I know what all the new items, masteries and whatnot look like so far, but I won't update as of now.
As for the part where you have to empty slots, always take Rabadon's Deathcap as you will get a massive spike in damage. But then last, you can try for any of your other choices except for Rod of Ages. That item's passive is 100% useless late game, and if you are taking it last or second to last, its wasted as you get mana from it and you also have to wait for it to charge. And if you really insist on getting Rylai's Crystal Scepter, then you get health from that, no need for RoA.
Katarina's ultimate actually scales with AD quite well along with AP. The extra AD bonus makes you ult do even more damage. Also, for the part about lifesteal being wasted, while this is partially true as Katarina is going to be jumping around fights with her spells, the lifesteal can still be used as she can auto attack after fights to heal up, or she can use it when fighting Baron late game, or she can also use the lifesteal to auto attack in between cooldowns/waiting for [{Sinister Steel]] and other spells. She also gets that very nice active on a carry she is trying to catch up to so she can delete them from the fight. The active is nice, even on New Kat.

P.S. Thank you so much for your feedback, I am glad I found another Katarina player too!
Oh yea and gratis slow for the whole time... thats how you (t)roll with Katarina
And trust me im an engineer!
I use Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Zhonya's Hourglass, Abyssal Mask for sustain, and I got 2 more empty slots. I like to use Rabadon's Deathcap, Haunting Guise, Rod of Ages, Will of the Ancients, Void Staff depending on situation.
Haunting Guise seems more useful in Season 3 due to it's building in to Liandry's Torment
I've been thinking and I feel Katarina doesn't always need Guardian Angel. I've done fine with just Abyssal Mask + Zhonya's Hourglass which really is the only defense Katarina needs most of the time. Guardian will always be a good buy regardless, but I see it is not always needed. I was trying to find the information on the new Hextech Gunblade to see if I should put it back into the main build.
I was looking online, and it showed that Kage's Lucky Pick wasn't in the recipe for Deathfire Grasp anymore, but i'm not sure if that is 100% true. I would really like to know so I will keep researching this.
I was also thinking about using Hextech Gunblade or Deathfire Grasp as final item choices. If you want some sustain, get Gunblade late game as your last or second to last item. If you want a bit more burst to assassinate carries, get DFG as your last or second to last item. I know that Deathfire Grasp was nerfed pretty hard. But it still works and that is exactly why I take it last. Just my two cents on the subject... LoL is a very interesting game, I agree.

Season 3 version of Deathfire Grasp seems more useful, but still feels like a gun with only 1 bullet. The active is nice, but 60 sec CD in a teamfight won't be much help, only 1 nice hit on the beginning and thats it. Actually it does less damage to squishies then your skills and tanks aren't your 1st priority.
It's mostly up to playstyle, but people tend to underestimate or over estimate some items. Many times becouse of "more expensive, must be better" way of thinking, not thinking out of the ordinary or simply lacking math knowledge. Also people tend to play recklessly instead of tactical. And also people play differently, that makes LoL intresting.

Hopefully it should shoot back up again when I finish my epicly long and informative Poppy guide. Coming soon to a MobaFire website near you!
