This is my guide on AP Lulu for mid :)

Don't you just love her?!

Pros/Cons

Pros

Escapes fast with Whimsy

Can support even as AP carry

Harasses pretty well
Cons

Wastes a lot of mana on low level - Be careful with that!

Difficult for beginners

Easy prey

High cooldowns

Spells

If you don't want to use flash and ignite, I guess you can use

Ghost(Not preferred since Lulu has Whimsy)

Teleport(pretty useful, too high cooldown though)

Heal(although I don't like it, but if you do, go for it!)

Exhaust(no need for it since you have Glitterlance)

Abilities Sequence

I always start off with Glitterlance because it's great for harassing the enemy and farming.
After that I get Help, Pix! for shield when needed and more harassing ;)
Then, it's good having Whimsy to silence the enemy or run faster in case of gank on lvl 3 already :O

Finally on level 6 pick Wild Growth. (you don't say! xD)

Items

Since her abilities aren't much I chose items with Unique active such as Deathfire Grasp and Morello's Evil Tome to get 2 kind of more abilities.

Of course you can go with Rod of Ages too but I don't think it suits Lulu much (Even though it's the first big think I buy everytime I pick AP carries)

Mid game/Late game fights

Well, Lulu was meant to be support after all, so don't be an egoist and support a bit in teamfights! But do get kills since you're an AP carry. ;)

Don't forget to use your Wild Growth on the ally who's in the middle of the teamfight or the ally who is about to die! Kindness is rewarded ;)
