Will camp your jungle, kill you at red/level 2, and unstoppable early game. Can gank and snowball better than Yi. Can peel Yi off team. Slippery. Buckle down and hope your team can carry you to late game.
Shaco
Slippery. Will counter jungle and easily kill Yi early. Ganks lanes better. Ward your jungle and play safe.
Xin Zhao
Dangerous early and mid game, especially for inexperienced Yi players. Nice crowd control, early counter jungling, and better team fights early.
Vi
Can dodge her ult if smart. Weaker before level 3, but that's it. Never falls off, superb ganking, dominant team fighter. Damage and tanky. Play smart.
Udyr
Excellent counter jungler. Strong skirmisher with Yi pre 11. Weak ganks, but strong objective control. Best plan is to track movements throughout jungle.
Tryndamere
Damage is absurd. Ult makes him immortal essentially. AD debuff. Decent mobility. Only weakness is he is easy to outplay and Yi is faster.
Trundle
Watch out early, as he can chase easily. Yi is better at 6 however, as Trundle is much better suited to dueling with tanks. Yi can out burst.
Skarner
Rarely seen, but has really good counter jungling and skirmishing. Kind of weak later on, however.
Sion
Low damage, low mobility (in jungle) and slow clear speeds. Bork hardcore counters him, and he has easy to dodge cc. Watch out in a team fight, though.
Sejuani
Lots of cc, hard to kill, high mobility. Slow doesn't affect post 6 Yi. Dodge her ult and you will be fine.
Rengar
Make sure to ward. Beats Yi early. Buy pinks/oracles and be ready to outplay.
Rek'Sai
Early game beast. Hard to dodge knock up. Extended fights are better for her. Ridiculous map presence. Avoid until late game.
Rammus
Crazy cc. Built in thornmail. Stacks armor, which stacks attack damage. If itemizes Sunfire Cape and Thornmail, will burn Yi to dust. Removes Yi from fights. Honestly, can be easily outplayed, but most don't know how to.
Pantheon
Great early game, good map presence. Singe target stun, auto attack block, low health crits, same movement speed as Yi. Be careful.
Olaf
No hard cc. True damage hurts in extended fights, but not extremely useful. Crazy attack speed and lifesteal. Ult is useless against Yi. Not terribly hard.
Nunu & Willump
Will counter jungle, will be hard to kill, but will do no damage either. Dodge ult if smart, and ward jungle.
Nocturne
Never played this matchup, honestly. Good ganking post 6, good skirmishing, but spell shield is useless against Yi.
Nidalee
Lee Sin's jungle sister. Will hunt you down all game. Unseen spear with follow up results in loss of life and buffs. Ward and play safe.
Nautilus
Crazy cc, but cannot stop your farming for late game. In teamfights, dodge as much of his cc as possible and dive past him. Does no damage, and is just a giant meat shield.
Maokai
Annoying cc, hard to kill, does damage, excellent team fighter. Won't likely stop your late game farming though.
Malphite
Crazy attack speed slow. Good cc. Stacks armor, damage. Can't clear fast, can't counter jungle, can dodge his cc too. Only hope against this guy.
Kha'Zix
Lot's of damage. Good pre 6 cc. 1v1 is his thing. Buy oracles/pinks and try not to get caught out.
Jarvan IV
Great cc, ganks and teamfights are his. Alpha stike only targets enemies, so his ult may be useful on you. Highly banned for a reason.
Hecarim
Damage, lots of cc. High mobility, good ganks, decent teamfight.
Fiddlesticks
Nice early game against Yi. Buy QSS later and you will murder him. Don't get caught by Crowstorm and it will be easy.
Amumu
Can dodge some of his cc, but not all. Can't be killed by auto attacks. Nice burn.
Aatrox
Will murder you early, and potentially late too. Make fights quick.
Evelynn
No hard cc, but is decent at counter jungling. Useless in team fights, really.
Elise
Yet another Lee Sin. Counter jungles like a goddess, single target damage is off the charts. Snowballs lanes. Only problem is she can't peel Yi in fights.
Hey guys, and welcome to my Master Yi guide! This guide will show you how to begin the path of Wuju Style, which will lead to much ELO gain in solo queue! Master Yi is an extremely mobile Melee AD carry capable of snowballing a game into oblivion. Mastering the Master will push your game to its limits!

Season 5 Jungling
Season 5 Jungling
Season 5 introduced a challenging jungle and changed Master Yi's play-style, though it only affects his jungling. Mid and Top remain the same.
Pros / Cons
Pros / Cons
Pros
+ Highest Base Movement Speed in Game + Alpha Strike allows Yi to dodge almost anything + Alpha Strike gives good gap close + Meditate reduces lots of damage and has a nice heal early + Wuju Style gives decent AD bonus and true damage shreds all + Highlander is one of the best Attack Speed and movement speed buffs + Perfect splitpusher and duelist + Extremely fun to play!
Master Yi is one of the best champions at murdering carries. His mobility and high late game scaling make him a nightmare for any squishy. Works great with early game teams that win lane, or late game hyper tanks.
Cons
- Melee champion - Low mana pool - Highly squishy - No CC - No innate escape - Requires farm of creeps or minions to be relevant - CC shuts him down
Master Yi is a highly dangerous pick in solo queue. As most people despise him, and he does insane damage, you will get focused in every team fight. This often leads to multiple deaths, resulting in lost farm and uselessness. No innate cc, which means his ganks aren't very effective, especially pre 6. His teamfighting is decently tricky. Easy to play, hard to master (as greater elos know how to beat you).
