Chapter 1

Welcome to my Malzahar Builde/Guide. I'm sure you may have some twists, and ideas of your own to add into the builds, so please no bad rep.

Section 1: Abilities
Section 2: Items / Reasons
Section 3: Runes / Reasons
Section 4: Start Game
Section 5: Mid to End Game

Summoner Spells:

I use teleport because when I usually go mid, It also helps in farming and being there in team fights. Example: Full creep wave top lane, teleport gets you there faster and in the situation where the minions are pushed to your turret it helps you prevent it from being destroyed. Teleport has many uses and it's up to us how we choose to use it to it's full potention.

Option Summoner Spell
A lot of people tend to complain that Malzahar has no escape and can easily be killed because of this fact, taking the summoner spell takes care of this problem. Honestly though if you play well and know not to over extend or if you have a team that calls MIA you really won't need this.

I go with Clarity simply to help my team or my Jungler when he passes to the other side of the jungle. A well played Malzahar usually won't run out of mana but we will get into that later.

Optional Summoner Spell
Feeling greedy? Have no fear is here. Ignite has it's many uses. Allow me to explain a few of them: Works amazingly well with your DoT(Damage over time) and allows for early game kills, Pesky Mundo on the other team? Rofl Ignite for the useless ult.

After casting 4 spells, Malzahar summons an uncontrollable Voidling to engage enemy units for 21 seconds. Voidlings have 200 + 50 x lvl Health and 20 + 5 x lvl Damage.

Voidlings Grow after 7 seconds (+50% Damage/Armor), and Frenzy after 14 seconds (+100% Attack Speed).

This passive may sound completely useless but let me tell you that little voidling has potential to do great things. Now we see that it states uncontrollable now that is almost true. I'll let you in on a pro tip pro, casting will cause your little voidling to attack the target that has been infected by your visions, use this to your advantage it can grab you early kills or help in pushing. This pet isn't afraid to tower dive.

Skill Q:

Malzahar opens up two portals to the void. After a short delay, they fire projectiles which deal magic damage and silence enemy champions.

Malzahar opens two portals to the void. After a short delay, they fire projectiles which deal 80/135/190/245/300 (+0.8) magic damage and silence champions for 1.4/1.8/2.2/2.6/3 seconds.

This powerful spell has many uses let's talk about a few of them. It works as a silence and really help in those team fights It can help in farming well duh :P But it has another very important feature, It gives you a field of vision when casted, this can save you from ganks by casting it in that bush or over a wall to get that temporary sight ward.

Skill W:

Malzahar creates a zone of negative energy which damages enemies that stand in it.

Malzahar creates a zone of negative energy for 5 seconds. The zone damages nearby enemies for 5/6/7/8/9% (+0.01%) of their max health each second (damage to Monsters is capped).

Ahh this has to be one of the most amazing spells that Malzahar has because not only does it destroy that annoying 4k health Vladimir but it simply destroys in team fights with all the CC going on. It also assist in getting you kills with your combo. Always remember to place this down before you use your ultimate, a well placed Null Zone v.s a not so well placed Null Zone will almost guarantee you that kill if the enemy isn't stacking MR.

Skill E:

Malzahar infects his target's mind with cruel visions of their demise, dealing damage each second. If the target dies while afflicted by the visions, they pass on to a nearby enemy unit and Malzahar gains mana. Malzahar's Voidlings are attracted to affected units.
Malzahar infects his target's mind, dealing 80/140/200/260/320 (+0.8) magic damage over 4 seconds.

Malzahar infects his target's mind, dealing 80/140/200/260/320 (+0.8) magic damage over 4 seconds.

If the target dies during this time, the visions pass to a nearby enemy and Malzahar gains 10/14/18/22/26 mana.

Malzahar's Voidlings are attracted to affected units.

Malzahar's Voidlings are attracted to affected units.

Your ultimate farming and pushing tool. Remember when i said a good Malzahar never runs out of mana well here is why when ever you last hit with this spell you gain mana back, this is what makes Malzahar such an amazing farmer and not to mention it helps in not having to return to base for a while. It also has other useful features that help in team fights, we use take advantage of this: If the target dies while being infected by Malefic Visions, the visions pass to a nearby enemy. This has gotten be many triple kills.

Ultimate Skill:

Malzahar channels the essence of the Void to suppress his target and deal damage each second.
Malzahar channels the essence of the Void to suppress his target as well as deal 250/400/550 (+1.5) magic damage over 2.5 seconds.

This handy spell will get the other team saying OP!? It has the ability to suppress which means this: Suppressing an enemy basically means they are unable to use any spell at all with the exception Alistar's , Ganplank's and the item , which is why you generally want to avoid using it on those champions or a champion with that item. Another way to use this spell is by utilizing it in a 1-2-3-4 Combo: Silence>Visions>Null Zone>Nether Grasp. I promise you if you pull that combo off you are getting a kill, you have to have fast hotkey clicking though so I advise that you practice it on bots before you try it in a real game.

Items Guide / Reasoning
I already figure you know what the items do by them self. So I will spare you the extra reading and get straight to the point of why I chose them.
Doran's ring

Early game survivability, mana regen and a little ap why not? We sell this later though because it takes up a slot.

Sorcerer's Shoes

Because you are caster you are going to want these shoes, the +20 Spell Penetration helps more then you think especially with Malzahar who uses DoT spells.

Rabadon's Deathcap

This item doesn't need an explanation but I will give you a short one.
Base 155 AP this is the highest amount of Ability power you can get from a single item but the real reason we want this item is because of it's UNIQUE Passive: Increased ability power by 30% This insanely huge buff helps a lot in the early to late game phase.

Rylai's Crystal Scepter

I go with Rylai's not only because it helps with survivability by increasing your health by 500, but it also gives you nice ability power 80 to be exact. The real reason I choose this item though is because of it's Passive: Dealing spell damage slows the target's movement speed by 35% for 1.5 seconds (15% for multi-target spells). It helps not only set up your combo but works very well with your DoT spells by giving the enemy a constant slow for the duration of Malefic Vision.

Void Staff

A DoT users best friend well a burst casters best friend as well. Void staff is an amazingly cheap and effective item, it gives 70 Ability and has an insane passive that gives %40 Spell Penetration, this helps a lot with using spells and against those Magic resist stackers.

Zhonya's Hourglass

Added survivability and 100 Ability powers why not? It has a great active especially for casters who usually get focused. UNIQUE Active: Places your champion into Stasis for 2 seconds, rendering your champion invulnerable and untargetable but unable to take any actions. 90 second cooldown. We can use this a few different ways: low on health? cast nullzone below your feet when being chased then immediately activate Zhonya's Hourglass it can save you and grant you a possible kill. Also use it when being focused in team fights as it allows your team to counter focus.

Optional 6th Items

Gives added survivability and has a great passive that helps you and other casters on your team.

I ONLY choose this if we have more than 2 casters on the team as it helps with the small ap and spell vamp.

Want to be more bursty or nukey? Grab Lich Bane, It's passive gives 100% chance when an ability is used that your next physical attack deals an additional 100% of your Ability Power in damage. This helps in taking down towers with your massive Ability Power and for that extra burst on enemy champions, it also gives you added Magic Resist which helps in surviving.

I choose this when I am in carry mode and if i die we lose the team fight.
Guardian Angel has a useful buff that helps if you die because it revives your Champion upon death, restoring 750 Health and 350 Mana, this effect can only occur once every 5 minutes. Remember that it only works once every 5 mins.

Runes / Reasoning

I will make this as simple as possible.

I decided to go with:
I feel every caster and especially ones that have Damage of Time spells need the added Spell penetration to maximize the damage you deal.

The mana regeneration helps when in lane so you are able to cast your spells longer with out having to recall back to base.

Optional Seals
If you feel like you don't need the mana regen i recommend which helps with the Ability Power by level or which helps with surviving against those Right click carries.

Glyphs i chose to go with:
Being a caster you want all the Ability Power you can get, using these Glyphs give you a lot of Ability Power for just being glyphs, the added ability power helps in the early game domination as I like to call it.

Optional Glyphs

If you feel like you are missing out of being able to spam then choose having even the slightest cool down reduction helps. If you are more worried about enemies that have magic resistance replace your glyphs with It's a small amount of spell penetration but you may find it helps out a lot.

Optional Quintessence's? lol
I debated between Flat Ability Power or Spell Penetration , I'm a fan of Flat AP but this isn't about me, I make these guides for you so let me say both help and It's all about personal preference. Both Quintessence work well so It's up to you which ones you want to use

Early Game Lane Domination

I start off with 1x and then head to Middle Lane.
The key strategy to dominating and pushing your lane is simply, ALWAYS last hit and ALWAYS last hit with your Malefic Visions spell. Doing this will save you trips back to base to heal your mana. If done correctly you can also zone your enemy, they will be to afraid to get near you because they don't want your visions to pass on to them. When you reach level six or seven depending how much gold you have accumulated, the target amount you want is 1100. Recall to base and buy your Sorcerer's Shoes then Teleport back to Middle lane so you don't lose a lot of push/farm time. Now since you have your ultimate you want to keep harassing your opponent till he is about %55 to %60. I usually bait with having low hp but you don't have to, once your opponent has over extended unleash your Malzahar OP'ness :P [insert funny comments] and do your 1-2-3-4 combo granting you a kill. Now get out there and and help team mates or use this time to push your lane.

Thank you very much for reading my guide I hope you can find it useful

Something lots of players seam to do is stick strick to their builds. Well doing this can work, but order of completion will make a big difference. Remember every game is unique, and you the player must adjust. If your being over tanked, you may have to buy some Armour for early game and sell it later. Or something as simple as buying your 4th items 2nd and your 2nd item last. Just ***es, and match a choice and hope for the best out come.

If your choosing to down rate this build and guide please please please take the time to explain it. I take A-LOT of time building these for the community. It is senseless and utterly rude to spam down rate. You do not like it when people do it to you, so why would anyone who takes this much time to build a guide...FOR YOU. Thanks!
