Introduction

Hello everyone! This is my first guide and it is on AP Rengar. I think AP Rengar is a fun alternative to the one-shotting monster that we all know and hate. Although I might not be the best player in the world, this guide will help those who just want to have some fun deleting your enemies!

Pros + Cons

Pros
    INSANE burst potential late
    Able to delete multiple squishy targets in quick succession
    AOE damage
    Extreme snowballer
    Easier to play than AD Rengar

Cons
    Weak early
    Horrendous clear speed
    Useless if behind
    Squishy

Summoner Spells

Smite


Smite is a MUST on all junglers.

Flash


Highly recommended. Simply put, it is the best summoner spell in the game.

Teleport


Only take this if you are confident enough to not take flash. Teleport is also good for global presence and hardcore farming.

Ghost


This will prevent you from being kited in or out of your ultimate.

Ignite


For VERY aggressive junglers who want more damage early and late.

Exhaust


This will help you assassinate enemies or win duels.

Masteries

ALWAYS run Thunderlord's Decree because of how strong it is. If your teams has lots of CC, you can take Oppressor, but because AP Rengar just one-shots his enemies by himself, I prefer Bounty Hunter. All other masteries are fairly standard.

Runes

Fairly straightforward runes. AP Quints and Magic Pen Reds for maximum damage. Armor seals for clearing the jungle. CDR Glyphs to cast your spells more often. If you want a better early clear, you can take 5% flat and 5% scaling CDR.

Early Clears/Ganking

Early Clears


You will usually want to use your empowered Q to clear. Even though W is your main source of damage, using your empowered Q will give you more attatck speed, which is much better for clearing levels 1-6.

Ganking


You want to use brushes to your advantage when ganking. Also, unless the lane you are ganking has lots of CC, you will want to use your empowered E to snare them. Position yourself so that you can leap on to your enemies and snare them while you and your teammate deal your full damage.

Early Game

Rengar is extremely weak early game. Usually you will want to just farm as much as your can you can get your items. Trading 1 for 1 kills on Rengar is not bad, because that will give you stacks on your Bonetooth Necklace.

Mid Game

Mid game is a strange spot for AP Rengar. If you are ahead, then you should be focused on snowballing and ganking as much as you can. If you are behind, then you should play safe and continue to farm until late game.

Late Game

Late Game is where AP or even AD Rengar shines. You can make picks and assassinate like no other champion in the game. Try to make picks and then group with your team so you have the numbers advantage. You should focus on taking out the mid lane AP Carry or the AD Carry since they are often the main damage sources on the enemy team. If you are lucky and they are both wandering off together, you can kill them both because your W is AOE.
