GENERAL INFO FOR THREATS:
- Hook/Engage supports will be more on the challenging side, but not unplayable and actually quite winnable once you get it down
- This is because taliyah must move away from minions most of the time to get any damage/poke in, so they can capatalize off of that
- Most ADC matchups will differ in threat level depending on what support they're paired up with
- AP Supports who can outrange you will be more challenging
Nautilus
Hook support so use minions to block. His shield is annoying as well, and he'll become pretty tanky so you wont be able to deal any damage. NOT UNPLAYABLE
Countermeasures:
- If he whiffs or you bait out his hook you can poke him or his adc out.
- If you are going to be hooked, might as well E because he will get stunned in return.
- Larger hitbox
- Electrocute b/c he is tanky, but I've ran some comet games and won as well.
- He is also melee, so you can W close to you/your adc or on top of them and it will push them off.
- Your ult can screw his hook over b/c it latches on terrain LOL
Thresh
Oh another hook support with an annoying shield, gets tanky, and has so much CC. Oh but this time he also can deal some decent auto damage and has longer auto attack range. STILL WINNABLE SOME HOW.
Countermeasures:
- Your E can stun lantern takers (I think?)
- If he ever hooks and Q2's in your E for some reasons, he will be stunned at least.
- Obviously, if he misses hook you can space and poke him or adc with Q, but watch out for his E.
Pyke
Another hook support, but he is squishy, so he is killable, that's really the only plus. He will heal your poke w/ his invisible passive yay. You are pretty squishy early on as well so he will kill you with ult wow! Can match/outroam you as well.
Countermeasures:
- Obviously, if he misses hook you can space and poke him or adc with Q, but watch out for his dash stun thing. He is very vulnerable to poke lvl 1
- Luckily, you can try and prevent his dash which stuns with your E to stun him instead.
- You have the advantage of a low CD ability (Q) that you can use to scout if he is invisble, or you can E b/c it has a wide area.
- Consider buying an early control ward and placing it in lane bushes or getting early oracle lens.
- Exhaust is decent against him.
Leona
So tanky early on with no items b/c of her W and she has point and click CC and a hook dash. So much CC with her ult too. Potentially the hardest tank support to deal with?
Countermeasures:
- Obviously, if she misses hook you can space and poke her or adc with Q during early lvls. At level 6 she will punish you w/ her ult, so dont.
- You can E her root dash hook thing, so she'll atleast be stunned and maybe you can W her or ADC as a "get off me" tool.
Alistar
A very good alistar can probably wreck you. He is not tanky at all during early lvls, his lvl 1 is really bad, so you can bully him w/ high Q shards + comet poke. Can heal away your poke with his passive, but you'll probably out push him if you Q wave. His ult will cleanse CC, and his CC is still very very valuable so be careful of that.
Countermeasures:
- Bully lvl 1 and maybe lvl 2
- Throwing out E will weaken his engage, it will stun him if he dashes, which will just knock back your ADC and he cannot follow up Q
- If he tries to approach and you have your empowered Q circles, just spam those to slow him.
- If he is smart, he'll start saving his push and wait out your E.
Blitzcrank
He's the racist hook support because he doesn't have a single dash and can silence you.
Lux
Skill matchup. She outranges you, which is annoying, but she is immobile and squishy so landing W is pretty easy on her. After lvl 6, her burst is amplified a ton b/c of her ult. But if she is ever ulting in your ADC. just W & E her during her cast animation LOL.
Countermeasures:
- Avoid her Q root at all costs
- Play around her CDs early, your Q CD is shorter than all of her abilities early. So if she whiffs her ability(s) then punish her.
- You can out roam her
- When she gets ult, get ready to W and E her during her Ult cast animation. She has to burn flash if she wants to dodge it.
Jhin
Pretty simple matchup, just watch out for his high burst. Don't trade if he is close to or has 4th shot up.
Countermeasures:
- His auto attacks are pretty slow all throughout the game, so you can out trade him with Q early pretty easily, just dont do it if he has 4th shot
- After level 6, save your W for his ult generally. If he ults in your face, W him (or R if W is on CD). If he is ulting from farawat to try and finish you/your ADC off, just R down the center of his ult to cancel it lol The reward is even better if you have E.
- He doesn't get much speed outside of landing his 4th shot, so W'ing him should be okay.
Miss Fortune
Her burst is really high and you don't want to hide behind minions or else she'll Q you. This creates a problem vs Supports who will CC you. She also gets really fast passive movement speed, which makes hitting your W un telegraphed difficult.
Countermeasures:
- After level 6, save your W or R for her ult. When she ults, use either or ability to cancel her ult.
- Position away from the wave or in bushes to avoid her Q. You can cower behind minions when she whiffs her Q.
Zilean
Nobody plays him so riot doesnt nerf him = broken. Outranges, has a point-and-click slow, does crazy burst, and has a revive ult a level 6. He will use his speed up every time you try to CC anyone. He's squishy tho that's it.
Anivia
Outranges you, outscales you, maybe out CCs you, and has a revive passive. Her ult feels impossible to deal with. You might have some success level 1-2, especially because anivia has some early mana issues.
Braum
He will just wall your Q and he has so much CC and tankiness. At least your W and E is practically unaffected by his wall. Note that you can E stun him if he tries to jump to an ally.
Tristana
Her all in is really good and she will probably kill you if she gets her bomb on you. But, she relies on her jump alot so you can just E when you think she's gonna do it or even while she does it. Then she'll be stunned and you can W her away (to retreat) or in (if you think you can turn around the fight). Basically, save your W (don't whiff) and react with E.
Karma
Her poke and shielding is pretty annoying. If you land a good W, you can break her chain thing that CC's you. Given that she doesn't put her shield on herself to block your burst, she's squishy.
Morgana
You can dodge her root really easily if you abuse your passive movement speed when next to a wall. But if she's any good, she'll just react to your very telegraphed W and just black shield it, rendering you useless for the most part. There will be rare cases when you can stop her ult by W'ing her and hoping she doesn't black shield.
Countermeasures:
- The main counter play is to punish her/ADC whenever she wastes black shield or when you wait it out.
- Trade when her root is on CD, espeically early levels.
- Another key to this matchup is seeing what abilities she levels during lvls 1-3. If she starts Q, you know she doesn't have black shield, so you can bully her/ADC to build an early lead that will hopefully carry you even after she gets black shield. Its the same if she starts W for no reason. If she starts E for some reason just Q her down and then Q her again when the black shield goes on CD lol. At lvl 2, if she gets W second, just keep bullying her and landing free CC. If she gets E lvl 2 (if she is smart she will), then you gotta be careful.
Rakan
An enchanter support that gets pretty tanky and has good CC and mobility. Its pretty stupid. Like most tank supports, try to focus most of the damage onto the ADC. Don't let him hit his feather that will heal him and ADC. It's pretty difficult to react to his knock up dash, so just try to E when you think he's gonna do it, because at least you'll stun him if he goes in and force him to wait if doesn't. His roams are pretty good to. The best thing you can do is prevent him from dashing to his ADC with E when he's out of position, and E slowing + W attempt to prevent him from charming when ulting.
Bard
You wont be able to use your passive wall movement speed in lane because he will be able to now stun you with Q. Out roams you and gets so much movement speed, damage, and CC with his chimes. Also has sustain with his shrines. He and his team can also just portal through your wall so.
Camille
When she's grappling onto a wall E. If she's every latched onto to a wall E for good measure. You want to prevent her from landing her mobile CC. Trade while the CD of her grapple is down b/c you'll out range her. If she ults you or ADC tho you'll probably die so. The best thing you can do is E and try to W in the enclosed space of her ult. Prob not safe to roam, especially after lvl 6, b/c adc will not be safe alone.
Caitlyn
She has crazy range, making her annoying to trade against and fight. Hitting your W is very difficult as well because her E is almost always up and it dashes her a decent distance at a very quick pace. You might be thinking to just E her then W. But the truth is that her long AA range always mean she is just at the tip of your E and she can actually just REACT to your E and use her net dash to dodge your E stun in the first place. Her traps are really annoying in the bushes and she can place them near walls to prevent you from abusing your passive wall movement speed.
Countermeasures:
- I believe you can W or Ult Cait's ult to cancel it, but you gotta be pretty fast because it'll still do damage mid fire.
- Try to E her when out of vision/in bush, that's the only way you'll get the slow into W off.
- If she every wastes her E (net dash) try to punish her
Vel'Koz
Outranges you x10. Focus on dodging his stuff and punishing the CD of them. If you every get knocked up by him you probably die. After lvl 6, save your W for when he ults so you can cancel it. He will win every fight, whether he's APC or support, if you let him ult with his passive stacks up. Save your W so you can cancel it; NEVER WHIFF IT OR AZAAP PUNISHES YOU. Consider merc treads.
Veigar
Riot should just delete this champion being played support. Your range is pretty even against him, but his cage is too annoying to deal with. And he scales infinitely and does a bajillion dmg w/o any items after 20 minutes. Alas, he is very immobile and squishy before he gets Rod of Ages.
Taliyah
GENERAL INFO FOR SYNERGIES:
- APC's work extremely well with taliyah and ADC's who have high burst as well.
- So, assume most mages are good with her bot lane.
- Champions that can knockback enemies.
- ADC's/Champions that can easily dash/hop over your wall, your wall is a good peel option with them!
- But taliyah support is pretty flexible anyways.
Miss Fortune
High burst, will kill most targets in CC and can help you CC. Her E slow allows you to effortlessly E + W and Q them to death. Your E + her Ult is nasty too, since the slow is as big as her ult and she can E as well for super slow. Just W stun people into her ult and you're good. Also she doesn't have to aim abilities like her Q so W'ing won't mess anything up as much.
Swain
APC with a pull that will activate your E rocks to stun. Scales and gets pretty beefy with items and his ult.
Malzahar
Idk what it is but it just works so well. You help him push wave w/ Q(which is what he wants), and his E burn will jump onto careless laners. His damage is quite insane and you can often roam b/c of his good wave clear. If you got good comms you can W people into his Q so it can easily hit. If he ults a target, set your E and W when his ult ends for CC chain.
Renata Glasc
You absolutely do not want to lane with her as your ADC/APC, but if you happen to have her on your team, it's pretty great. Don't ask but I've had many games with her on my team but in a different lane that is not support. Again, don't ask how.
- Her stun is good lock down for you to Q and set E, but then she can push them (at any distance after she's hit it btw), and this will activate your E rock stun. It's so great for CC chain and disengage.
- Her ult is really good for getting multiple people to stand still so you can just E and W them. And you can set up her Ult with your E slow.
- Shields and OP buffs like "fight or die" are always appreciated.
Vayne
She needs a lot of peel, especially early game, but her E is really good in your E, as the push procs the rock stun for an easy follow up W. You can also push them next to a wall so she can easily E condemn them for that stun. Scales incredibly well + good with bandle pipes. Your Ult wall also sets up her E stun in niche scenarios as an added bonus.
Jhin
Your E is so easy to hit so he can just W to capatlize off of your slow -oh look now they're rooted, so you can W them in your E to stun them for longer wow! His 4th shot brings good burst as well. E & W good peel when he's ulting.
Caitlyn
You will be able to perma push in waves and maybe roam. If you take bush position and poke with Q, enemies will hide behind minions so caitlyn can Q the wave and the enemies. Your E also allows her to place traps; they will have a very hard time going around them.
Ashe
So much CC on her own its broken. Poke twinsies as well.
Anivia
APC with so much CC and scales well. CC chain galore. Wall sisters. If she places her wall under an enemy, the push from it will trigger your E stun.
Yasuo
I wouldnt lane with an ADC yasuo, but if he's like ur mid or top laner your W is good at getting him to ult.
Xayah
Probably better off with rakan, but she has tons of self peel and self buffs, and you can CC chain. She has her ult to wave clear with E after, or get out of dives since it is a moving zhonyas that deals damage and has a shorter CD; so you can roam w/o worry.
Lee Sin
Lee sin jungle brings good burst in his ganks, random shielding, and an ultimate that knocks back. Therefore, you can E and his ult will trigger your rock stuns, allowing you to CC chain further.
Nunu & Willump
Fast ganks with good CC. He can build tank or ap as well. If he is coming to snowball gank, set your E (and W maybe) to slow laners and prevent them from dashing away from his snowball for an easy knock up. You can also W during his ult to prevent enemies from running out of it. Just don't mess up his snowball with your Ult wall.
Poppy
Good frontline with incredible CC and anti-dash ability just like Taliyah. Good toplaner to have, but even better as a jungler b/c then she can gank bot lane. Her E pushes opponents through your E rocks, triggering the stun.

Hi! I play league for fun and I love to int, play off-meta, and sometimes feed. Annoying laners is my second favourite passtime. I'm primarily a Neeko main, usually running her Support (I played before support was her primary role), but I also play Zoe Support & Top (Mid lane was too easy and boring, yawn. Top & Support lanes are fun and take high skill. Top Zoe is full of malice and generates pain onto enemy top laners, so its AWESOME) and of course, Taliyah Support (Jungle Taliyah sucks now, midlane isn't fun, and top lane is only okay in terms of fun).
Why Play Taliyah Support? (Pros & Cons)
Pros:
+ Decent Mid-Late game damage (surprising burst with Electrocute) + Good CC via stuns, slows, and uncleansable knockups + Powerful disengage + anti-mobility tool via Unraveled Earth and Seismic Shove's knockback[ + Insane roam potential with Weaver's Wall and Rock Surfing + her CC + Quite flexible with AP, Utility, and more tank-oriented item + It's very FUN which is the most important. A very unique support play style, especially because riot refuses to release a new support champion.
Playing Taliyah Support feels very high skill and rewarding when you make good roams and land your CC. If you want a mage support that doesn't feel brain dead like most of them, this is your pick
Cons:
- Seismic Shove can be difficult to hit in lane (especially in certain matchups) = situational CC at times - Squishy & Immobile - Low early game damage if you're not consistently hitting all of your Threaded Volley rocks or comet - Threaded Volley & Unraveled Earth can easily steal ADC's farm if not careful - Limited range - Mana hungry early - Weaver's Wall and Seismic Shove can ruin skill shots, positioning, plays, etc., if not careful enough or lacking good communication with team
Due to the nature of Taliyah's design, you'll have to work a bit harder if you want damage and CC in the support lane.
