Easy Matchup & My FAVORITE match up. Use your W wisely, trade with Q, E when you have a good chance. Pre-6 it shall be easy trades, post-6 just watch out for her ult and knock her away if necessary. But with Baim's Cinder the trade should always go on your favor.
Darius
Skilled matchup. Do not let him get his Q onto you. Try not to have sustained trade because his stacks are scary, especially when it gets to 5 stacks. You are much more mobile than Darius(mobility is his weakest point, especially before he gets deadman's plate), use your W and E to get good stuns. If your jungler comes, it should be easy kill.
Yorick
Skill matchup. Early on your should out-trade him with your Q and auto attack + shield. However, watch out for his E, which marks you for his little summoners as targets. Post-6 try try to finish fights fast with help of your jungler because his ult drains health. Knock him away if needed. Overall, a good match up.
Gangplank
Very difficult lane. His barrels have high damage and as melee champion you cannot do too much. Even if you lands a stun he can disable with W. His Q can either out-trade you. It would be a farm lane. Play safe. You really need jungler's help to shut him down. But not hard to just survive.
Malphite
Easy Matchup. You can out-trade him easily early game. A little bit of jungler's help could help you secure a kill easily, but you can do it alone as well. Worst scenario if something turned bad, just farm and he cannot kill you.
Ekko
Skill match up. It takes more patience and skills to maneuver around Ekko because his E is annoying. Try to dodge the Q to make it difficult for him to pop passive. Without that, your Q should out-trade him. Don't fall into W (it is hard to get trapped tho). Solo kill is possible but it takes good patience, expect a long fight if you were to do so. Play smart, you would win. Jungler's help would be much appreciated.
Gnar
Skill match up. The most important thing is to dodge his Q. After you have Baim's Cinder, it is easy to out-trade him. Go in when he is small, and avoid fighting when he turns Mega(Simple logic against Gnar as usual). Again, as long as you dodge his Q, easy game.
Jayce
Tough match up, especially in the early game. He has range. He can knock you back. Annoying match up. Farm safely because after you have one or two item, you can win against him easily. (Sunfire is essential in the trades) Jungler's help would be appreciated.
Kennen
I prefer to describe it as ANNOYing match up. He has escape and can stun you. You can out trade him if he gets into your range but that rarely happens. Dodge the Q. Wait for jungler or the opportunity when he used his E to clear waves. Same with Jayce, you can out duel him easily later in the game.
Yasuo
Not a bad match up. Same with riven, your W can severely limit his movement. Try to stun him against the wall when W is up. Your combo along with your Q can take away a chunk of his health. However, try not to actively trade with him if W is on cooldown.
Renekton
Relatively easy match up. Don't let him get free Q damage onto you. Use W when he tries to dash in and land a stun and finish his combo. You can out-trade him with your Q. When he ults, depending on how ahead you are, you may be able to kill him even when he has ult. However, most of them time be careful with his ult. Should be easy.
Garen
Skill matchup. This is not that bad considering he relies on getting his Q onto you to carry out a full combo. Otherwise, trade with Q and E whenever there is a good chance. Be smart with trades.
Irelia
Pretty tough match up. Her E is so annoying and she has huge burst in Lv6. Early game you may out trade her but post-6 it is harder. It becomes even harder after she gets trinity force. She is also very mobile with her Q, which does not help you land your E. Call for you jungler to get kills, but otherwise farm safely.
Kayle
Difficult match up. Her range attacks are annoying. Her Q makes it so much harder to get to her. Her W gives her movement speed in case you get closer to her. Just farm safely and wait for ganks.
Pantheon
Easy matchup. Block his W with your W, you should be good. In those cases, you can outtrade him with your Q. Don't forget to dodge his E. His Q spams could be problematic earlier but you have enough sustain and your passive also helps you trade. Use wisely of your shield.
Nasus
Easy lane match up. Your Q is so good at denying his farm. He is not that mobile so it is not hard for you to land a good stun. You know as long as you can deny farm, nasus is very behind. Call your jungler if you want for easy money.
Nautilus
Skill match up. He is annoying. Watch our for his waves. Make sure you put your Q down before he stuns you. Don't give him an easy hook. It is safe lane, but it is also hard for you to solo kill him. Get your jungler if you wish to have kills.
Rumble
Skill match up. His damage is high. He has shields and speed boost. It is hard to land a stun. He can probably out-trade you a little bit. However, you can try solo kill post-6 if you can use your ult wisely. Make sure you dodge his ult. Don't get poke down by his Q. After you have spirit visage, it would become even easier.
I am not a very skilled player. Yet, I got to plat with ease after I picked up POPPY because he suits my style of playing - providing utility to the team and relatively strong from the start of the game until the end. Provide so much utility to your team. Initiation, peeling etc.
I hate dying and it is hard to die as Poppy.
His has 3 game changing abilities: ULT > E > W
Cons
You could get kited without flash
Need sensible teammates to back you up. (Hard to one-man carry, but you can make it much easier for your teammates)
