Introduction

Most of the items I chose are based around either ability power, mana/mana regen, health, or armor. These allow you to lead the charge and be able to tank the damage as you use your ultimate.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a great choice for a mid/late game item because it allows you to chase fleeing enemies, or slow down enemies that are chasing you.
Runic Bulwark gives you and your team spectacular armor and magic resist that will help your team win teamfights.
Shurelya's Battlesong is a must have with Sona, as it gives great regeneration and a speed boost that helps to catch up to fleeing enemies or engage. Another great item is
Mikael's Blessing. This item frees a high-priority teammate from any cc on him, allowing you to win a crucial battle.

The skill sequence for Sona isn't that difficult. If the lane is going well, max your
Hymn of Valor first, allowing for greater poke and harass in lane. If you are losing the lane, or need more sustain in lane, max your
Aria of Perseverance first, giving you that extra sustain. Obviously, max
Crescendo asap, and finally, max
Song of Celerity last.

So that's basically it, use your poking ability in lane to scare the enemies without taking too much damage yourself. Remember to build health, and always place wards as a support, in the river, and in the tri-bush. Mana regeneration will help your lane immensely, as will cooldown reduction and health. Play Sona to her fullest, make 'em dance!
