This is my guide to Katarina it will show you:

How to max your skills properly;
When to enter and exit team fights;
What kind of items should you choose;
Rune choice;
Is Katarina a champion that you would like to play.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Easy to play
Incredible Damage mid and late game
A lot of skins to choose from

Masteries

Probably the best masteries for are 21-9-0. Ability power, health, armor and Magic resistance. Remember that the key to playing is building and getting every single point at Health and AP. Maybe those masteries are the most used.

Marks:

For marks pick armor or magic resistance, simply because you are squishy and ad carry-s and asassins will focus you.

Seals:

Seals are for magic resistance or Armor, just in case that you have to face a fed mage or ad carry.

Glyphs:

Ability power per level glyphs. Simply because is stronger late game and the more ability power, the better.

Quintessences

Flat AP quintessences, they give you all you need early game (enough to farm).

Summoner Spells

SPACE

provides extra mobility in case that there isnt a ward, champ or minion to shunpo to. If your cannot reach the target use to get closer for an easy kill.

is a great finishing off tool. can be used to boost your damage, or last hit in team fights.

works great with your , so if you know how to use it, you will have no problems with your enemy.

I suggest maxing your first. It is your main damage output. The mark that it leaves on the target it hits can be consumed by any spell or basic attack from , including her .

sinister steel

sinister steel is your spell for farming and running from enemy champions. It does good damage early and late game. And another + is that its cooldown is only 4 seconds. I suggest maxing it together with .

provides extra mobility and great damage with AP. Used best for getting closer so you can cast your . And it is also very useful to chase low health targets, it`s other use is for farming early game.

makes you the perfect killing machine. After turning it on your team must forget about getting the kills from the low hp champions affected by your . In team fights you have to hit the right moment - 2 low hp enemy champions while all of your team is still alive - jump off with a and finish them off.

Tips and tricks

Use Bouncing Blades in combo with sinister steel for easily farming.
Bouncing Blades and Shunpo do some very nice early game damage, if you fight mages like Lux better wait her to cast Lucent Singularity and Shunpo to her, you wont recieve damage, but you will deal some.
Lane choice is an important thing, Katarina is at her best mid, top with a tank is another option.
Death Lotus is a channeled spell , stuns disable it, not snares.
Before you enter a team fight with your Death Lotus simply throw a few Bouncing Blades to help your team.

Items

gives you two very important things:

Health, without it you will simply be focused more regularly and die faster then you think you can.
Slow, the most useful passive for Katarina! When you Shunpo into the team fight and start your Death Lotus only Flash can save them, cause your passive slows them and they are forced to flee, or die like most ad carry-s.

is another useful item on . If you have to slay high priority targets (fed champions), and they start their ultimate - parry it with your active, then there is no place to run from the slow of and you are done!
