Ryze being the squishy champion he is, it is best to play quite defensive early game and really FOCUS on last hitting your minions... If you have tear of the goddess, use abilities to finish them off and fill the tear.

If you know you are stronger than your mid-lane enemy then yes, blow him up if you can... but when the lane is pushed it is best to go from mid, to wolves, to mid, to wraiths and back to mid, repeat this to try and get maximum farm if you can to fill up your tear.

Yes ignite is very helpful at times for extra dps... but a little practise with teleport = amazing ganks with Ryze, when you have Enchant - Homeguard the threat from Ryze ganks is doubled as there is no escaping him. Ask your team to place wards bot and top throughout the game for these amazing opportunities to get double, triple, quadra and even PENTA KILLS!

Ryze is one of the best end-game champions in my opinion, if you follow this guide and practise with him, im sure you will have fun slaughtering the enemy team one by one and boosting games.
