Introduction

A few things I want to say before you read the guide:
- Sorry for my English, it isn't really good
- Try it out before commenting or voting please
- Don't start reading with a feeling: this is never going to work
- I'm not a pro, but I just know a lot about

My runes are not really surprising I guess, but if u have questions or other suggestions tell me.
Greater Mark of DesolationFor marks I take armor penetration, that's because this build gives Shen a strong auto-attack. 15 arm.pen. will help you to hit through armor of squishy carries.
For Seals I take armor, this well help you to be tankier at the start of the game, it really makes difference. Most times you will be up against an ad bruiser and this will stop them from hurting you hard (This is a Solo-Top oriented guide)
For glyphs I take MR/level, this will give you 24(!) magic resist at level 18. These are my favorite glyphs in game. Self-explanatory I guess, the only other glyphs I use sometimes are flat MR glyphs.
The HP quints will help you to be tanky early. I usually take these, because when you have these you will be able to survive ganks early game without being forced to use flash. The only other Quintessences I recommend are the Greater quintessence of Vigorhealth regen. quintessences. You can damage your opponent, but the damage you received will be healed up fast.

Most games I start with
Doran's Shield. It gives HP, which stacks nice with your passive (explained later) Healt regeneration and Armor. In my opinion the best way to start.
When I go back the first time I buy
boots, and a
Heart of Gold. When you have more money buy instant
Mercury's Treads. Always take a ward, even though your abilities allow you to escape from most danger. You will be tanky right now, get extra gold from
Heart of gold, and decent resistances.
I buy
Warmog's next, because it takes a while to load it with CS. And since your Armor and MR are already above 100, you will be incredible tanky. And it gives your passive a nice boost.
Wit's End should be your next item. This item increases your attack speed, deals some extra damage and you get extra magic resist. The attack speed is especially good with your passive. Sometimes I buy a
Chain vest before Wit's end, but only when I get raped by their AD carry. I always get a Chain vest after Wit's end.
Trinity Force will be your next item. It has everything
Shen needs. All stats benefit him, and the passive will give you some burst! With trinity you can get their carries to half HP after the taunt! Since some of Shen's abilities are low on cooldown, you could benefit a lot from this passive. This item gives Shen: AP, AD, Attack Speed, Movement speed, Healt, a slow, and nice burst. Some people might think this is a strange item, but you should really try it, Trinity Force makes Shen a beast!
Last items will be
Randuin's Omen and
Force of Nature. These items increase your resistances, tons of healt regeneration (you will have 4100 HP now so Force of Nature's passive is really strong), And you can slow and decrease attack speed of enemy champions with the Randuin's active. Don't forget to use!
You will be able to tank a whole team now, and you will deal tons of damage and be some of the scariest late game champions!

I always take
Flash on
Shen. Flash has so many uses, offensive and defensive. You can escape from most ganks with Flash and
Shadow Dash. And when their carry tries to escape and they are out of Shadow Dash range use Flash first to close the gap.
Ignite is really good on Shen, it will help you to beat your lane opponent and it is good against healers. It helps you to kill people, while your base damage isn't really high.
Exhaust is the spell I take against high damage dealers on top, like
Tryndamere or
Fiora, Exhaust will remove almost all their damage for a short duration, and it is helpful to counter ganks or when you gank with your ultimate.

Some nice tip: Most times teamfights are happening somewhere far away from your top lane. Keep pushing when both teams just poke a little, and when all hell breaks loose go to the battle with Stand United (it is global!) Sometimes you can get a turret, or one of their team goes top and you can go in and win the fight in a 5vs4 situation. Never forget to activate Randuin's after your taunt!
This is just a start, but it might help some people to play
Shen. So I already published it, but I haven't finished yet. I will add stuff to this guide, but be patient please. Leave comments to help me to improve this guide, and I will try to perfect it but it will take time.
One last thing: try before voting or commenting please, otherwise you don't help me with your advice. Have fun with playing Shen, I really hope you will enjoy it as much as I do, and the best of luck to all of you!
