Randuin's Omen and Thornmail was actually the hardest item to decide between!
I think some practice and theorycrafting is needed here. In most of my game I do not reach a point of fully build Shyvana as the game already ends one way or the other.
Randuin's Omen offers the plus of extra tankyness (health/armour) CD reduction and the activate. I do feel however the activation skill isn't really needed on Shyvana . With Frozen Mallet Exhaust and Burnout , the short slow doesn't offer a great deal. While 100 armour and magic resist is amazing, the super short duration puts me off.
My main reasons for taking Thornmail were, the cost effectiveness (2000gold is amazingly cheap), putting off AD carrys (this limits their targets to take down and pushes them to think more about lifesteal items). Shyvana deals a suprising amount of damage when left alone.
The main reason for Madred's Bloodrazor was its proc with Twin Bite . I find squishy targets such as Lux or Vayne etc easy to takedown regardless of items, however tanky players such as Lee Sin or Shen much harder. The 4% health passive gives me the chance to make on all 5 of the enemy this way. The extra attack speed and damage continue to provide extra punch to the Twin Bite as well. Also its effect on taking down Baron can be very useful at this point in the game.
Banshee's Veil ? Interesting, the shield would be plus for sure but is it not a waste paying for mana? I will test this out in-game I think :)
Atma's Impaler does feel like a natural item to fall into with all this health! But I feel this is why not. Firstly Sunfire Aegis and Wriggle's Lantern has already build up a lot of armour for us. Second is crit, Shyvana doesn't crit . the largest crit I think I have ever done was about 500 damage. Compared to AD carrys that can crit for over 1000, I feel it very weak. Finally going flat AD with Shyvana (given from the passive) doesn't massively increase damage. Although Twin bite scales beautifully, Burnout has a very poor ratio of 0.2
I will also turn comment to vote on as well! :)
What region servers are you on? Maybe we can try out a few games for different build ideas. Thank again for feedback much needed as you can kinda tell haha
EDIT: Madred's is a very expensive item. When top laning its not so bad as you can push into it slowly with a madred's razor . When Jungling it can make sometime but the overall pay back is worth it I feel. Maybe room for improvement? all item suggestion really interest me so yeah more the better
I recommend switching Thornmail to Atmas. Thornmail is just a bad item for Shyv in general, you don't have any threat to the other team so they probably won't focus you. Better to get damage from all the health.
Wit's End is a solid choice for Shyvana however I feel it makes anyway the 'dam look at my health and fear me!' you get with taking the double health increase of Frozen Mallet and Sunfire Aegis .
It does of course depend on your team setup. For example if you already have 1 or 2 tanks on your team and need the extra punch. Also if the enemy is heavily AP based. Say AP mid as well as an AP Teemo top or AP Kog'Maw bot lane - and you feel the Magic resist is needed sooner before the can reach for a Force of Nature
I think I will add these alternative items in, however I wanted the guide to be short and to the point. I feel a lot of guide on mobafire (are really awesome! although) have a big section of "if this" "if that" I wanted to give more of a flexible guide that people would base their own builds on instead of having every situation planned out on a single (and very big) page.
What do you think? Like I said, first guide so I expect to be a bit ****py compared to all you guys xD
I'll make sure to add those in. Running through the format now to make it a bit more colourful and painting over the cracks. I admit it looks very newbie right ow but hopefully it will be shiny and stuff by tonight!
I'd suggest adding some more information on her specific combat tactics, and maybe a more detailed rundown of your rune/item/mastery choices, and why you've picked them.
Good first guide :)
