While the slow and her W poke can be a bit annoying, once you get to her you have more than enough ways to stick to her anyway through your own CC and her lack of mobility. This should be really easy. Just fight her as often as you can and she wont be able to do much. Just be Careful that she doesn't cancel your Q with her Ult.
Jhin
Similarly to Ashe, Jhin has very little mobility and has doesn't have the damage to fight you early. When he uses his ult, you can just Q or Ult into him to force him to take the damage or move out of the way. Or you can just tank all the shots with the help of your W. If he catches you with his W, just charge Q in his direction to Zone him from coming closer for more damage. All in all a pretty favourable match-up.
Sona
Without her ult Sona won't be able to stop you. You can bully her pretty hard and force her to play passive. I recommend not going passive against a Sona, as she can just poke you really easily and will heal herself and her carry if left alone. You need to make her afraid of you and punish her when she isn't.
Jinx
Treat Jinx like Ashe or Jhin. Just trade whenever you can and shut her down early. Just be careful when you back off that you don't get caught in her Chompers and her Slow. If her passive is triggered she will be very hard for you to catch so just back off or just zone her with your Q.
Janna
At first this might seem like a poor match-up, but all you have to do is consistently harass her or the enemy adc with your E and force her to use her shield or tornado. The damage is nothing to worry about but she won't have enough mana to sustain through your poke. Once she is either too low or out of mana you can just engage on her, just be wary of her Ult though. It can really annoy you.
Miss Fortune
Just poke her with your E. She is too immobile to dodge it and without a healing support she won't be able to stay in lane very long. Try your best to avoid her Double-Up because if she keeps landing it then you will be the who has to leave lane. Like Jhin, Ult her when she uses her ult to cancel it. Can be hard to engage on her without your ult as she can just slow you and kite away, so unless you can surprise her, just poke her down.
Ezreal
Ezreal is quite weak early so just poke him with E and engage or zone with your Q. It can be very difficult to catch him with your Q if he still has his Shift available so he is hard to get at. However if you see that he has used it, engage on him as soon as you can to punish him for it.
Soraka
Soraka is more of an annoyance than a threat to you. She can just heal her carry from your poke and unless you can avoid her Q she will heal herself too. She can also cancel your Q with her Silence so it can very hard to engage on her. Your best option is just to focus her with your E and avoid her Q as best you can. In fights you need to kill her first so focus or zone her hard away from the enemy carry.
Caitlyn
Caitlin is very similar to Miss Fortune in the sense that she has strong poke and is hard to engage on because of her traps. However, Caitlin can easily escape your Q with her Net, making it much harder to trade with it. Once you do get on top of her, she is pretty much dead. Just poke with your E and avoid her traps. Body block her ult if she uses it on a teammate.
Sivir
Sivir is similar to Ezreal as she can just use her Spellshield to prevent any kind of engage from you if she times it right. oNLY this is especially easy against Sion because his Q is so obvious so she will usually block it, unless you can catch her by surprise. Not only that, but she makes her whole team a lot harder to hit when she uses her Ult. But like Ezreal, if you see her use the Spellshield engage on her as soon as you can, especially early game.
Kog'Maw
On paper this sounds easy. An immobile adc with little to no crowd control. But this is Kog'Maw. The DPS of an unchecked Kog'Maw is insane and he will shred through your whole team if you can't get to him first, however unless you can ult him, your Q takes 2 seconds in order to lock him down for a meaningful amount of time, but he can still do so much damage in 2 seconds. Not only that, but a competent team will never let you get that close to him. Your only option here is to punish him as hard as you can early, or he will eat you alive late game.
Lulu
Really annoying. She has strong poke and a lot of disengage options in her kit as well as keeping her carry safe with a Shield and Attack Speed. She can completely remove you from a fight with her W and her Ult will just be a huge annoyance. Your only advantage here is that she has no sustain and your poke is long range, so just sit back and poke her as much as you can.
Draven
Now we get to the big boys. Draven is a really hard match-up. He deals so much damage and with his Speed up and Displacement it makes it very hard to catch him out. He will probably get an early life steal item too, so poking him down will be almost impossible. You can use his axes against him though; when he goes to catch it just start to channel your Q over where he is going to be, therefor he will have to drop his axe or take the full force of your damage. You can also use E in the same way by firing it at where his axe will land. His snowball potential is also massive so you need to be very cautious when against a Draven. I advice trying to go for an early all-in with Q as that is when he is weakest, if that fails then just play passive and farm it up.
Vayne
While her early game is generally pretty weak, she is also pretty safe. She can Roll out of your Q or she can just use her Knock-back. Her true damage will also be a big problem later as she will shred through you to nothing. She becomes incredibly slippery when her ult is active and it will be very hard to catch her. Your only option is to get a lead early or delay her scaling as much as you can.
Braum
It will be almost impossible to get to the enemy carry as long as Braum is around. Through is arsenal of CC and his Shield you will find it very hard to crack through his defences. In this lane just play passive and try poke down him or the carry with E as its too fast and too frequent for him to block all of them. Don't try to engage fights, just peel for your carries and try hold him down as long as you can so he can't protect his team.
Morgana
Morgana will make any carry she is with turn into Sivir, but worse. She has some potent poking and zoning abilities and there is no worse feeling when she roots you in your passive. It will be very hard to engage on her or whoever she is protecting because of her Spellshield, but you can try to bait it by walking up to them. You should then try to engage onto whoever didn't get the shield. If you or an ally gets hit with her Dark Binding, just charge up a Q behind them to zone off any potential follow up attack from Morgana or her team.
Lucian
Super slippery. You will rarely ever land a charged Q on a Lucian because he can easily dodge it with is Dash. He is also a potent damage threat early on, so prolonged trading will usually turn out badly. His ultimate isn't so much of a threat as you can just tank the shots, but his damage, mixed with mobility makes Lucian a very hard Match-up. Just try to poke him down and only engage on him if you see that he has used his Dash too early, then punish him for it.
Brand
This a really hard lane. He can just consistently poke you over and over for tonnes of damage and he is usually very safe too. Not to mention that he can cancel your Q with a near instant and unmissable stun since you can't dodge it while channelling. Do not try to fight him at any point during the lane. Just poke him down as long as you can and only engage on him if you're sure you can kill him. Get an early magic resistance item to help you survive as long as you can.
Thresh
Thresh is not a fun time. He has multiple ways of cancelling your Q, as well as providing many ways to protect his carry. He will likely heal through your poke if he gets Relic shield and there is not much you can do if your carry gets hooked besides Zone off the enemy adc as best you can. If you do try to fight him you need to wait for him to use his E and then you can use your Q. However, if your Q is cancelled, make use of the lower cool -down and wait to use it again as he won't be able to cancel it so soon. If you are in a fight, you should usually try to focus Thresh first to stop him saving the ally with his Lantern, unless the ally was that much of a threat. Since his Lantern acts as terrain, he can use it to stop your ult if he places it in front of you, so keep that in mind.
Kalista
Kalista will definitely be your hardest match-up. You will rarely ever land a charged Q or E because of the constant passive dashes. She can easily dodge your ult too by using the dash from her Q. Its not like laning against an Ezreal or Sivir where you can just bait their escape and then engage. Kalista always has her dashes up. Your predictable abilities and low movement are no match for her mobility. The only ability you have a chance of landing is your W, if the shield lasts long enough. Her passive and E will make it very hard to get out of her Kite, so she can just bully you really hard. Even her ally is safe due to her Ult and she has the engage potential with her Ult too. For this reason , you should try to avoid pushing the lane and instead try to freeze it at your tower. This will reduce her chase potential and make it easier for your jungler to help you. If you want to fight her, you have to land your E directly on her for the slow before using your Q. It will make things much easier as long as you remember to do it. The only thing you can do here is play really passive. Try to poke her support out of lane as best you can and try to delay her late game scaling. If you get this match-up, I wish you luck.
My name is Caolatron and I want to say thank you very much more taking the time to read my guide. Sion is my favourite champion in League of Legends and I wanted to make my first guide on him to help share what I have learned over my many hours playing as Sion Support. At the moment I only have the basics such as Item Builds, Runes, Masteries and Match-Ups but I hope to go into more detailed advanced strategies and techniques later in the guide in order to help you become the best Sion you can be. For now, I hope that the information I have given you so far has been useful to you and I would greatly appreciate any feedback or comments you have about my guide so that I can tune and improve it. Thank you for your patience and I hope you have fun with Sion!
