This is a short guide meant to quickly teach you basics to own dominion with Ryze.

I expect you to know the basic concepts of Dominion play. If you don't, read one of the general dominion guides.

Ryze is a tanky caster.
He has a 2 second snare.
He is ap - most people don't stack magic resist.
He is ranged.
He can high burst as well as sustain.
Strong from the start of game till end.
He can SPAM SPAM SPAM

Primary Role - Defender
Ryze is an awesome defender. He can SPAM Q to poke and then snare them if they get cocky.
He can use R to aoe damage big waves of creeps.
His E bounces, stopping multiple heroes.

Secondary Role - Ganker
With your boots of mobility and speed shrines, you can easily travel around the map helping other teammates.

Summoner Spells really up to you.
Exhaust/Flash works well for me.

Start off with: boots of
Next upgrade boots: important item for dominion
Work your way to a
Upgrade to a or buy a catalyst protector
Get a for your magic resist.
Finally either upgrade to or get a
Usually games are done by now, but get a last.

This will give you damage and tankiness as well as mobility.
Also give you 40% CDR to SPAM SPAM SPAM.

9 Magic Pen Reds
2 CDR Blue
7 Mana per Level Blue
9 Mana per Level Yellow
3 MS/3Magic Pen Quints

With items/masteries/maxed Q, you get 39% CDR. 2 Blue puts you at 40% to...SPAM SPAM SPAM!

I will describe how to use Ryze to his full potential.

First of all, set your spells to Smart-Cast in Options>Keybinding.
This will help you combo easily.

Basic Concept of using skills.
*Try to use Q as many times as possible by using it between any spell.
*Cast your spells as fast as possible in succession to maximize CDs.
*For example, press Q, then IMMEDIATELY press W. This cancels the animations, saving time.
*Spam, Spam, Spam = WIN!

Pre lvl 6:
Q-W-E-Q. If you think he will get out of range
Q-E-W-Q. If you think you can get the E in before he runs.
Q-E-run back-Q-E-run back-Q. Get more Qs in this way.

Post lvl 6:
Q-W-Q-E-Q-R-Q-W-Q-E. Full combo. use E before W if you think you will be in range.
You can still use pre 6 combos to poke and kite.

Other notesy tr
*Use W to snare melee heroes when they to dive you and kite them along with exhaust. I've gotten COUNTLESS kills from this.
*Don't be afraid to use your ult to farm, with 40% CDR, you will recharge it in no time.
*SPAM SPAM SPAM! Spam to recharge your ult and Spam to charge your Tear.

Go to either mid or top as Ryze. Poke the enemies using your skills and hope to get a kill.
Don't overextend, just poke them if they are close enough.
Flash in to secure a kill if needed.


Don't try to backdoor the enemies mid, it's pointless 99% of the time.
If you have three turrets, just defend- Ryze is a great defender.
Use the Speed Shrines to travel.
Take the Buff when available, it is good for you.

Remember, Primary role- defender, Secondary role - Ganker.

Just a quick guide to introduce you to dominion ryze.
I didn't bother formatting colors and such in, but I will if this gets a lot of views.
