Just Look At Those Eyes
Feel free to message me on League. If you want a demonstration, I can play a round (not ranked) with you and answer any questions. If I don't respond, I'm either busy or have too many messages to keep track.
Early Game
I've been playing Elise for years and it still frustrates me when people think there is only one way to play her. Just ignore everything you've heard and read this instead.

Elise is strong early game, but if you play your cards right, she can be strong late game too (if you haven't carried by then). Regardless, you should be looking for a gank before five minutes. Let your team know that you want to gank early; at the beginning of the match tell them you want to gank, but you wont gank if they push the lane in (you can still gank if they are pushed in, but it would be much easier if they weren't). Don't try to force anything, if their team is too careful or they are pushed in, just focus on counter jungling and farming.

Let's say you finish your jungle route and nobody is gankable because lanes are too pushed. Look at mid and top and choose which one has less health. Look at their minion wave and see if there are at least three minions within tower range. If they are less than half health and there are minions under tower, simply walk straight through lane, right up to them and use this combo. Cocoon, Neurotoxin, Volatile Spiderling, Spider Form, Venomous Bite, Skittering Frenzy, Rappel. Then rappel to a minion away from turret.

Congratulations! You just pulled off a SUCCESSFULL GANK!
Get To Know Her (Tricks)
Elise has a huge kit and it can be daunting at times. The best thing you can do as a new player is to get used to her skills. Don't expect to carry a game right away. You might get lucky a few games, but if you really want to consisently carry, you're going to have to understand how her skills work and the nifty secrets that go along with them.

Passive - Spider Queen.

Early Dragons
This build is focused on taking objectives. You can solo dragon at level 5, as long as you have mana. When you first go to the dragon, start in human form. Wait for the dragon to knock you back, then walk directly underneath it. When you transform into spider form, you spiderlings will be on every side of the dragon. MAKE SURE YOU IMMEDIATELY ATTACK THE DRAGON AFTER TRANSFORMING. If you don't the spiderlings will follow you and group up again. You don't want this, you want the spiderlings to tank the dragon attacks, without all of them being killed at once from earth and fire dragons. This doesn't matter with water and air dragons. Most people only solo dragons at level 6, but if you use your spiderlings correctly, you can actually solo it at level 4. Level 5 is safer.
Burst potential
With jungle item and boots, 1000 health and below can be combo'd to death. With one more item it goes to 1500 health. With four items (Nashor's tooth included) it goes to 2500 health. With 5 (Void Staff Included) it reaches 3000.

Even in a team fight, you can stun, get your combo off (Only if you are REALLY quick) burst a carry then rapel to safety (If there is an enemy minion near your team or a jungle camp over the wall.
Elise Combo
From Human Form. E (Stun), Q (Percent Health), W (Explosive Damage), R (Transform), Q (Percent Missing Health), Wait .3 Seconds, W (Attack Speed Boost), E (Rappel), Wait for Q Cooldown, Q (Percent Missing Health), R (Transform Human), (QWE) Spam and Auto Attack.

EQWRQWEQR
Ganking, Stealing Baron
Your best bet on ganking is to start with your stun. If you start with your stun and land it, once the enemy gets away or tries to run YOUR STUN WILL BE UP AGAIN. Especially with 20% or more CD. See Elise Combos for when you successfully stun.

You can rapel to plants. If you know the river is warded, rapel to the blast cone just outside of baron and dragon pit, then walk into their lane. If you are trying to steal dragon or baron, flash over the wall, smite, then rapel back to the plant. If there is a blast cone and a vision plant near by... well that's the perfect situation.
Towers
Elise with magic penetration and attack speed EATS towers for breakfast. You might think to yourself "Oh, the enemy is on the way, I better get outa here" But even a couple seconds near a tower can take it down to half. Get your stacks, find even the smallest opening and you can eat first blood tower.

BE SURE TO have all of your spiderlings up. Make sure you clear the wave so that the tower is the only thing left for your spiderlings to attack, and ONLY USE W FOR ATTACK SPEED WHEN all of your spiderlings are already attacking the tower. A bulk of your damage comes from your babies.
Baron
You can solo Baron when you have Stalker, Nashor's Tooth, Abyssal Mask, Void Staff and second tier boots. (If you get fed fast enough). One more item and it doesn't matter if you are fed.

VARY IMPORTANT!
BE SURE!!!! To rapel ONTO nashor with ALLLLLL of your baby spiderlings. If you rapel onto nashor, they spread out around it so they can't get one shot by nashor's abilities. This is the ONLY WAY you can solo baron, otherwise they will all die and you will be squashed like the bug you are.
