Aatrox is a powerful laner against Lillia, it is one of the only champions that I fail to scare at level 1. Play relatively safe and farm until you get 800g for an Oblivion Orb. After that, he should be easier to deal with.
Akali
Easy lane, you can just abuse with your Q, even when she's shrouded by smoke, but you have to make sure you have the advantage, or she will snowball.
Aurelion Sol
Just encountered him once, he is free elo, but play smart, don't act like a barbarian or he could be a harder opponent. In other words, don't get hit by his Q.
Camille
If you let her get her shield at level 1, wait until it expires or play with a decent distance, try to avoid her E and the rest of the lane will be easy. Don't feed her or you will really be in serious problems.
Cassiopeia
Only twice I've been against a Cassiopeia on toplane, it is a hard matchup, but if you avoid her Q and get to her without being ulted, you can kill her. But in most cases, I advise against direct aggressions.
Cho'Gath
Ok, Cho'Gath may be kind of hard to deal with at level 1 if he has his E, but you can be aggressive enough to hit him and avoid his other abilities at level 2 onwards. If you do everything right, he has no way of getting close to you without receiving massive quantities of damage.
Darius
Some may disagree with me on this, but Darius is an easy matchup, I only positioned him here because he can snowball quite hard, but he can't do anything if you use your resources flawlessly.
Dr. Mundo
Avoid his Qs and he won't be a threat at all, the only danger that he possesses is his Q, Lillia likes going fast and those knifes prevents her from being Lillia.
Ekko
This matchup can get out of control with a bad play, but even playing decently will get you an easy victory against him.
Fiora
Ok, this is a matchup I'm familiar with since I mained Fiora for a long time, but that doesn't means that it's easy. First, you must hide your weak point and punish her every time she fails, if she hits you with her first E, you hit her with your E, if you want to ult her, you mist bait her W. Other than that, this is just defined by how much do you understand Lillia and how good are you at reading your enemy's actions.
Galio
Yes, he's a colossal anti-mage tank, yes, he does a lot of damage and yes, he's still easy to beat, use your movement speed to avoid his engages and then punish him until he's dead, this matchup is that easy.
Gangplank
A good GP will never expose himself, he can nullify your ultimate and heal himself, his Q does a respectable damage and he can get fed just by using his ult to get assists. This is a matchup that can be won, but I prefer to play passive.
Garen
Braindead, just avoid most of his E damage and see if he can waste his Q with minions, the rest is just using your Q and E to reduce his HP.
Gnar
This is a champion I don't see a lot, but when I do, he can be quite hard to deal with. Your Movement Speed will be your greatest ally and you must punish him when you are able to. If you avoid his stuns while he's Mega Gnar, it's just a matter of time for him to get destroyed by a Critical W post-ult.
Illaoi
She can get fed easily, but you can punish her for every mistake she makes and it's not hard to destroy her tentacles, just make sure to run when she ults.
Irelia
This is a matter of early game, if she gets fed, you can do nothing to stop her, like, at all. But you can take the first and maybe second blood to make her useless. Avoid falling in her E and abuse her W. Her Ultimate ability is annoying, because you get slowed, but if you have the advantage it is just a nuisance.
Jax
Really easy matchup, if you can be faster than him, his E will be useless and you will be able to punish him hard for getting out of his tower. In late game, it becomes hard to kill him, but you can circumvent this by poking him with your E until you're comfortable with going all-in.
Jayce
He does a lot of damage, like, a lot. But he's vulnerable in the early game and you can punish him if he gets too close with his hammer. Even then, you can get slowed, and that's a bummer, just use your W if he jumps at you. Be vigilant with your distances.
Kayle
Really easy matchup, there's almost nothing she can do, just harrass, rip and tear until it's done.
Lissandra
Maybe I'm the only one that has used Lissandra on the Toplane, but I can say for certain that this is an easy matchup, play smart.
Malphite
It's just way to hard to mess up this matchup, but it's still possible, even then, you can harrass the **** out of this oversized pebble.
Maokai
It shouldn't be hard, it even gets easier after you get an Oblivion Orb.
Kled
Easy early game. While his R is dangerous to your movement in late, you can evade it easily.
Mordekaiser
This is a hard matchup, I mean, it can be easy if certain conditions are met, but Mordekaiser is a threat even when he's behind. If you can punish his mistakes, you will be able to break him.
Nasus
Easy early and easy midgame. He can be dangerous at late, but you can make sure he's useless. Really easy to win.
Olaf
Humiliate him on early and he won't be a threat ever again, add the Oblivion Orb to that and he will become useless against your Magic-based burning wrath.
Ornn
It can be hard, but it becomes easier if you are focused in his abilities.
Pantheon
He can get fed easily and he has some serious damage on early. Make sure he doesn't kill you and you should be fine. If you are able to kill him early, it can be easier.
Poppy
Avoid her Q and don't use your W when her W is up and you'll stomp her.
Quinn
Poke her with your E and Q on midgame until she's at W's death range, sleep her and enjoy your meal: Fried chicken.
Renekton
Maybe this is a personal problem, but I just can't beat Renekton, I gave up a long time ago, permaban.
Riven
She can snowball hard into midgame, but your earlygame is just way better than hers, I recomment to abuse this little fact.
Rumble
Don't go against him in early, I recommend to just play safe and try to pick some kills elsewhere in midgame, this matchup can get really hard if the Rumble knows what he's doing.
Ryze
There's not much he can do in early game, if you can, take a big advantage and just try to win fast.
Sett
Levels 1 and 2 define the matchup. He will stomp you if he gets the advantage, but worry not! You can do the same!
Shen
He can deal lots of damage in lvl 2 when he gets his dash. Be brave, avoid the taunt and give him the damned (I mean the damage, I really tried to make a good joke)
Sion
It's just too easy. Avoid his Q and everything's fine. Do understand that he's not easily killable.
Teemo
It's too hard to mess up. He has nothing that counters you, at all.
Trundle
Can become a threat with his ult, but he's quite easy to deal with in lane.
Tryndamere
He hits hard, but he's not dangerous until level 6. After that, time your ult to kill him after he sleeps while immortal. If you can't deal with him this way, use a Zhonya's Hourglass and see how he's useless.
Then again, Oblivion Orb is really useful against him.
Urgot
Hard to counter in midgame, try to see how he reacts at level 1 and avoid his dash, he should be easy if you understand his movements, but his ult is really dangerous to you, since it slows you quite a lot.
Volibear
A little bit hard, avoid his abilities and try not to get stunned, he should be relatively easy if you do that. Oblivion Orb seems to be effective as always.
Wukong
Try not to fall for his tricks, you can easily kill him, but don't get too cocky or he'll punish you really hard.
Yasuo
Mobility: check
Damage: check
Crowd Control: check
A shield that you must time your passive to effectively break to avoid wasting mana: check
This matchup is harder than your average one, it is winnable, but it is also challenging. If you want to ult him, don't do it while he has a shield, or if he's going to get his shield. Because he will deny the effect. I know, it's bs.
Yone
Just like his brother, Yone is quite difficult to deal with, but it isn't impossible. avoid his 3rd Q, his shield and his ultimate, if you want to ult him, bait his E, for he will be immune to it if he uses it with perfect timing.
Yorick
He's only dangerous when he has his ult up, but even then, he's easy to kill if he doesn't have you in his cage.
Kayn
Only encountered him once, he has the potential to deal you more damage than you can deal him at level 1, if he takes the advantage and transform into the assassin you'll not be able to do anything against him until really late game.
Viego
If he understands the way you abuse your lvl1, you are going to have a bad time. His early has the potential to be better than yours and he heals himself a lot. Wait until Oblivion Orb to be aggressive.
Senna
Her early can be really toxic in lane (In the unlikely event that she is picked in top, maybe I'm way too unlucky). Try not to die and you will be fine, but this is a really stale lane.
Amumu
If he uses his ultimate, you can follow with a Q to all the enemies you can to ult them and destroy a Team Fight
Alistar
Have problems landing your E to ult? Don't worry, this minotaur will make everything easier if he takes 2 or more enemies with his combo.
Ashe
PermaSlow? Ideal to hit everyone with your abilities and ult. I mean it. You don't even have to wait for any cooldown, because the slows are in her passive, and she even has a stun as a ultimate.
Anivia
Area Slow and Area Stun in the same champ? This makes hitting your abilities so easy!
Aatrox
He has decent stuns, but I don't think that he's that useful for your kit.
Ahri
1 attract, I don't think she has more than that to offer for Lillia. Also, If I'm not mistaken, she can ruin your W setup if she uses her W.
Aphelios
Gravitum makes for a great way to take unsuspecting enemies by surprise with your abilities, and you can easily wipe them out with your ult and his *cough* *cough* 200 years *cough* *cough*.
Aurelion Sol
He has an Area stun, but he can easily ruin your W setup by waking up enemies with his stars.
Azir
If he throws the entire team to your position, you can easily hit them with a single Q and they'll go directly to sleep... and the 20's.
Bard
His ult can give you a good setup to use your Q to ult everyone, but be advised that we are talking about bard...
Blitzcrank
If you want to take a single enemy, you can wait for him to grab someone and use your W directly in its position, dealing a ton of damage. Wait, is the enemy still alive? Put it to sleep and kill it with your Q, since Blitz has his ultimate, you can rest assured that no one can use an ability while you put them to sleep.
Brand
He can kill by himself and he can do as much burn damage as you, but he's fragile and can fail his abilities, making him quite useless since he can only stun 1 champ.
Braum
Slows, resistances, tankiness and oc course, an Area Stun with his ultimate. He can make your life (And E) easier!
Camille
If you want to kill a single target, it's alright, but she's got nothing useful to you but her ultimate to isolate someone.
Cassiopeia
She can stun and/or slow your enemies, allowing you to sleep them all and killing them quickly, but there is where her utility to you ends.
Cho'Gath
A tank with slows and a stun, he could be really useful, but he's really slow and doesn't make a difference in how you handle a teamfight.

Introduction: Who am I? and how did I end playing Toplane Lillia
Hi, my name is Tío Kirb and I am a Gold player (In this exact moment I'm in silver since the Season started just recently) from the LAS server.
Through my years at League, I have used lots of champs, I started with Cho'Gath in the season 3, but I never bothered to get to level 30 until season 6. That year, I had found my first love, Nasus. I ranked with the dog and Sona for a whole season, until I found Fiora and old Aatrox.
My champion pool has been diverse throughout the years, but those 4 champions were the main reason for me to play. At times I started using other champs a lot, but I never stuck with them.
Fast forward to 2020… Wow, that was a terrible year, but that season, I started maining Kayle, I used her a lot in midlane and toplane, I played 128 matches in total with her. But on July 25th, I got stomped by a Lillia on midlane. At the time, I was shocked, I thought the champion was broken beyond redemption, but that match made me transform my BE into a new champion in my pool.
That same day, I tried the champion (In ranked) and boy, did I stomp that one! I got a score of 7/1/5. I fell in love with the champion, and I did not stop picking her exclusively until 2 months later approximately.
I finished “Season 2020” with 189 Lillia matches, 96W and 93L (51% Winrate) and a KDA of 3.29, I will not say that I am a master of the champion or anything, after all, gold is still low elo. But I will try my best to describe the way I play Lillia in the toplane. That includes items, movement, counters, and other useful tips along the way.
If there is something that you do not understand, you can ask me directly through this site’s PM service! Also, if you spot any grammatical mistake or find the text to be difficult to understand, it is because my mother tongue is the Spanish language. I will be happy to help you or fix any mistake.
Champion Introduction
Lillia: The Bashful Bloom
Intensely shy, the fae fawn Lillia skittishly wanders Ionia’s forests. Hiding just out of sight of mortals—whose mysterious natures have long captivated, but intimidated, her—Lillia hopes to discover why their dreams no longer reach the ancient Dreaming Tree. She now travels Ionia with a magical branch in hand, in an effort to find people’s unrealized dreams. Only then can Lillia herself bloom and help others untangle their fears to find the sparkle within. Eep!.
An specialist in burning magic damage, Lillia in the Toplane is one of the best picks if tanks or bruisers are your problem.
Pros and Cons
PROS
+ Spammable abilities + Outplay potential + Divine Speed + Can sleep the whole enemy team + Can defeat Darius + Can be tanky
CONS
- Depends a lot of the first kill to get the Oblivion Orb fast - Doesn't have a single dash or blink - No shields or any ability that affects allies
Runes
Conqueror Is the heart of this early game aggressiveness, it gives you aditional AP and healing. Presence of Mind Allows you to get some mana back. Legend: Tenacity I would normally use any of the other "Legend" runes, but Attack Speed and Life Steal are useless with Lillia. Coup de Grace Allows you to destroy the enemies that are sleeping with your critical Watch Out! Eep! Taste of Blood and Ravenous Hunter Blesses you with Omnivamp and Healing.
This runes just exists to deal lots of damage, burst damage. But you will not get all the perks of a balanced build at all, so the decision to use them is in your hands.
Items against Tanks
This build starts like all the builds in this guide, but its focus are those matches when there are lots of tanks who are building Magic Resistance items and you think that your duty is to melt them, gaining their attention while your team takes the other enemies.
Corrupting Potion is perfect for your early game, since each charge gives you 75 Mana and 125 HP back, in other words, at the end you can cast an additional 5 Blooming Blows, 4 Watch Out! Eep! or 3 Swirlseed while gaining additional burn damage.
I advise to buy the Oblivion Orb and Boots before proceeding with the rest of the items.
Liandry's Torment is an excellent item for Lillia, you just use your abilities, and see how everything you touch is on fire, literally.
Demonic Embrace is the butter you are going to spread with Liandry's Torment thanks to its damage based on the enemy's HP. This combination works wonders even against squishy targets, you wouldn't believe how many times I've destroyed AD Carries without even noticing.
Morellonomicon is the bane of some Tanks. Want to make a Nasus suffer? or Vladimir? or Dr. Mundo? No problem, this item makes sure that he cannot heal more damage than the damage he receives, also, the Oblivion Orb is just 800g, making it a wonderful alternative for healing laners.
Sorcerer's Shoes gives you more Movement Speed like all other boots, but it also offers Magic penetration, making this a good choice against those who are building Magic Resistance to survive your attacks.
Void Staff is a no brainer if the scenery mentioned in the Sorcerer's Shoes description happens, 65 Magic Penetration is a lot and can do a big difference.
Last but not least, Rylai's Crystal Scepter is a life saver against champions that can temporarily be faster than you and occasions where you want to get a kill but the enemy is on the run, because not only do you become faster with each time you hit someone with your abilities, but you are also slowing them with this.
Items against Bruisers
This build is focused to those enemies that are going to be more aggressive, like Fiora, Yone, Aatrox or Sett. In this case, your objective would be to win every duel in lane to have more control of the zone for your team, gaining the advantage against this enemies will provide you the necessary gold to make the entire enemy team contemplate on never playing again... or at least for 5 minutes.

Demonic Embrace is the butter you are going to spread with Liandry's Torment thanks to its damage based on the enemy's HP. This combination works wonders even against squishy targets, you wouldn't believe how many times I've destroyed AD Carries without even noticing.
Plated Steelcaps help you by reducing the incoming damage of champions like Fiora and Sett by a big margin, while also providing you with sweet Movement Speed.
Morellonomicon is the sole bane of Aatrox's existence... or at least it would be if Fiora didn't exist. This item helps you by reducing the sustain of champions like Aatrox, Fiora and Nasus, of course, to use it in lane, the best way is to buy an Oblivion Orb that has almost the same effect for 800g.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter is Really useful when forced against aggressive champions that want to seek and destroy in the late game, enabling you to enter and exit 1v1's with no major problem, avoiding most if not all the damage that they can do in normal circumstances.
Dead Man's Plate provides us with Armor, HP and Movement Speed, making you a tougher menace to the rest of the mortals in the rift.
Items against Squishy targets
Let's say that you are against a really strange case of a "Toplane Aurelion Sol". Sounds strange, right? While I advise against it, I will present you with an alternative build that absolutely destroys weak enemies, but be advised, you will not be invincible and you will absolutely be killed if you get stunned.
We start with the same two items, these being Liandry's Torment and Demonic Embrace for their potential against literally everything, you already know them, so I'll mention the changes.
Sorcerer's Shoes provides you with Magic Penetration, so the little Magic Resistance that your enemy has will get obliterated.
Mejai's Soulstealer gives you a whopping 145 Ability Power and 10% more Movement Speed if you get the 25 stacks.
Void Staff does the same thing that our boots, but it also provides us 65 Ability Power.
Rabadon's Deathcap empowers everything else we've built with 120 Ability Power, but wait, there's more, since we amplify all our AP by a 35%! Ain't that really sweet?
Chapter 1: How is Toplane Lillia supposed to work?
First of all, Most people would tell you that Lillia toplane is a troll pick. Yeah, I get it, she may be a jungle champ, but I suck so bad at jungling so… Let’s answer the question above!
Toplane Lillia works as an aggressive bruiser whose primary objective is to deal as much damage as possible in the first 2 levels to acquire dominance over the lane.
How to we do this? Stick with me and you'll learn!
Chapter 2: Early Game
The most crucial part of the match. What you want to do is to position yourself between the 3 ranged minions and the 3 melee minions and try to hit them, and the enemy laner, with the exterior of your Blooming Blows, complement your Blooming Blows with basic attacks against your rival and use your Corrupting Potion to get some HP and Mana Back to keep the fight and get some bonus damage from the Potion. If you're using the Conqueror runes, try to heal and deal as much damage as possible.
If you, for some reason are using the Electrocute runes, focus on small trades to maximize your damage and try to play safe while the rune is on CoolDown.
Didn't get what I'm saying? Don't worry, I've recorded a little fragment of my last match to help you, it's at X0.5 to be easier to comprehend. Also, take note that this was an extremely pacific match in toplane.
Chapter 3: Mid Game and Late Game
Yeah, I know, you can do lots of things in mid game, you can roam, you can stay in your lane, take objectives, help the jungler, etc. Whatever you do, you must understand that you won't just delete people like the data destroyed by that strange song you downloaded from a p2p program on 2004.
From the same match, I will provide you with a duel between me and Yone. Of course, for easier comprehension, it will be at X0.5 speed too.
In other words, if you're going to fight, prioritize using your Blooming Blows to deal damage in area to all the enemies you can, complement this with an occasional Swirlseed to slow them and to gain even more Movement Speed. You shall move like a dancer, your objective is to deal lots of damage and taking none in return. When your enemy has 30%HP approximately, use your Lilting Lullaby and end them with Watch Out! Eep!. But be sure to hit your enemy with the center of the ability.
To be honest, I see the Late Game as an extension of the Mid Game, the only difference being that ADCs are more lethal now. I'm sorry for not giving more details about this.
