Welcome!

Hello users of the Interwebs. This is TheWoWClown's guide to Twitch "The Plague Rat."
Twitch is a champion with insane potential late game, and good utility to get first blood early game. This guide will give you an in-depth look on how to build, play, and all-in-all, wreck some faces with Twitch. I hope you enjoy.

Masteries

Description

The Masteries are chosen to be a basic damage output. The main parts for the masteries,
that I believe are MANDATORY, are Summoner's Wrath , because it benefits both of your Summoner Spells, Alacrity , because Attack Speed is, I think, the most important Stat for Twitch, and Vampirism , because Lifesteal helps Twitch heal off of all of the damage he outputs. If you plan on altering the masteries, I suggest you keep these three.

Recommended Runes

The Greater Mark of Health and Greater Quintessence of Health really help Twitch over come his "squishiness". It is always good to stay alive that much longer in a team fight.
SPACE
The Greater Seal of Magic Resist helps Twitch survive longer in a team fight, as well as be able to 1v1 better, because of not taking as much magic damage from AP carries and major casters, for example, Karthus.
SPACE
The Greater Glyph of Armor helps Twitch majorly in the "squishiness" factor that all Twitches must take into account. I seriously suggest these if you wish to survive. As survival is a key part of being effective in a team fight.

Summoner Spells

Recommended

Ghost

- Your Champion ignores unit collision and moves 27% faster for 10 seconds.
This is very useful for Twitch so he can get into a gank as soon as possible and also escape a sticky situation. Summoner's Wrath increases the speed bonus to 35%.

Exhaust

- Exhaust slows Movement Speed by 40% and reduces auto/basic Attack Damage by
70% and ability/item damage by 35% for 2.5 seconds. This is great for ganks because the enemy will have a very difficult time getting away, if you use Exhaust ,and then when it wears off use Ghost, you will be able to keep up with the enemy, almost no matter what they do. Summoner's Wrath makes Exhaust decrease Armor and Magic Resist by 10.

Surge

Empowers your champion, increasing ability power by 10-78 (depending on level) and attack speed by 35% for 12 seconds. I chose this as a recommended summoner spell mainly because of the Attack Speed increase that it gives you. This will help you a lot in the beginning of the laning phase for that upper hand. I usually take this when I am going mid, because 1 on 1, it gives you a large advantage for fighting. If you decide to take this, I suggest Ghost instead of Exhaust just because they work better together. Summoner's Wrath increases both of the attributes given by an extra 10%.

Expunge

Deadly Venom: This is Twitch's passive ability. It applies poison to every basic attack he shoots, letting him do immense amounts of DoT(Damage over Time) damager. It stays on the target for 10 seconds and stacks up to 6 times.
Tips and Tricks
  • You don't have to chase champions as much, with Deadly Venom. If you get them low enough, your poison will finish them off.
  • Great for getting last hits on minions, even if you are not attack them at that moment.
  • Once you get full stacks, you can use Expunge to do a lot of damage, or Venom Cask to slow the enemy down, so they can not escape.

Amush: [Ambush] is Twitch's "Q" ability. It puts the user into a state of stealth. He can walk around without being seen with the enemies bare eye. Ambush has many uses such as Ganking, Escaping, and Scouting out territory beyond your control, on the map.

You're going to want to max out [Ambush] before[Expunge] and before[Debilitating Poison].

Tips and Tricks
  • Twitch can use Ambush to gank enemies very readily.
  • Ambush can be used to get away, because you can activate it as long as you are not taking damage.
  • Do not try and use it to sneak up on someone using Oracle's Elixir.

Debilitating Poison: Venom Cask is Twitch's "W" ability. This ability slows an enemy down based on the amount of stacks of Deadly Venom on the victim. This ability has a specified range of 1200. The uses of this ability are varied. Venom Cask is useful for running down an enemy, escaping from an assailant, and slowing down a whole bunch of enemies in a team fight.

You're going to want to max out [Debilitating Poison] after[Ambush] and after [Expunge].

Tips and Tricks
  • You can use Venom Cask to slow down escaping enemies, to finish them off.
  • Venom Cask can be used to slow down a pursuer, as to help you get away.
  • Using Venom Cask does not consume any stacks of Deadly Venom, so feel free to use it as much as possible.

Expunge HERE Expunge: Expunge is Twitch's main damage spell. It does damage based on the number of stacks of Deadly Venom on all enemies around Twitch. This can be used to quickly kill enemies in a fight, or exterminate a scared little rat, running from you.

You're going to want to max out [Expunge] before[Debilitating Poison] and after [Ambush].

  • Use Expunge to kill an escaping enemy.
  • Expunge can decimate an enemy, when you have 6 stacks of Deadly Venom on them.
  • To kill Tryndamere before he uses Undying Rage, use Expunge to destroy what's left of his health, before he thinks he needs to ult.

Spray and Pray: This abilty makes Twitch's basic attacks go through enemies and hit multiple champions. This spell also increases Twitch's Attack Damage.
Tips and Tricks
  • Use Spray and Pray to hit all enemies in a team fight, getting maximum damage outcome.
  • Using Expunge after hitting multiple enemies with Spray and Pray will give you a better chance of getting the kills.
  • Will maximize damage in a 1v1, letting you get the kill, and stay alive.

Core Items

Sequence

Descriptions

Doran's Blade- This is the best Starter Item for Melee Champions. This item
provides Health, Lifesteal,
and Attack Damage.

Ionic Spark- This is the best item to have, in this guide. It drastically
increases your attack damage, and makes a chain lightning effect every four attacks.
Mobility Boots- This makes your Movement Speed increase
a lot when not in battle. They are great for ganks because when running in to fight you might faster than normal.

Infinity Edge- This gives a lot of Attack Damage and
Critical Strike Chance to your character. The best part of this weapon is that it changes critical hits to 250% of normal damage, instead of 200%.

Bloodthirster- This is a big Lifesteal item.It has a
very good special for melee champions.Gain +1 attack damage and +0.2% Lifesteal per kill (maximum +40 Attack Damage and +8% Lifesteal. Half of the bonuses are lost upon death.

Banshee's Veil- This item can be used if you feel that you need more of a
defense. It helps with your Magic Resistance, Health, and Mana. This item will block one malicious spell every 45 seconds.(Thanks to NinjaGinge for giving me idea to add something with a little more resistance.)

Situational Items

Phantom Dancer- This item gives Twitch a lot of Attack Speed
It also gives Critical Strike Chance and Movement Speed. This item can be bought if you are doing really well.

Maw of Malmortius- This item should be used when you are going against a strong AP
Caster and you need help beating him. This item will give you Magic Resistance, Attack Damage, and a shield from magic damage at 30% health.

Cloak and Dagger- This item adds more Attack Speed
and Critical Strike Chance. The Tenacity in this item will lower the time of all CC effects. If you are going to use this, replace the Bloodthirster with it.(Again thanks to NinjaGinge for giving me some ideas for some Survivability items.)

Black Cleaver- This gives Attack Speed and also Attack Damage. Basic attacks reduce
target Armor by 15 for 5 seconds. This effect can stack 3 times, adding up to 45 reduced Armor .

Gameplay

Beginning

In the beginning of the match, you will want to get use Ambush a lot to "gank" your own lane. If you do this in the bushes, in the first few minutes of the game, there is a good chance you will get first blood, and giving you some time to get some CS(Creep Score).
SPACE

Mid-Game

At this point you should be helping push your lane, while still going out to gank the other lanes. Pay attention to the map to see if any enemies decide to hang around in lane, at low health, after killing a teammate. Discreetly slip out and go wreck some faces.
SPACE

Late-Game

During late game you should be back-dooring enemies, pushing turrets, and participating in ever team fight that arises. Try and finish your build, and use Spray and Pray in every fight possible, to get as many kills as possible. The main part is to NOT forget to the lanes, to win the game, as that is the objective of Twisted Treeline and Summoner's Rift.

Ganking

Bush Ganking

In this section I will show you how to gank someone from a bush right next to them. The first thing you will want to do is turn on Ambush. When the enemy passes the bush, walk out and get behind them, so they have to run through you to escape. Activate Spray and Pray if you have it, and shoot at the enemy. When you use all of the hits in Spray and Pray continue to auto attack. If the enemy starts to run away use Venom Cask and then Exhaust. If they make it through this, turn on Ghost, shoot them a few more times and use Expunge to get the final hit. There is a good chance you wont have to do all of these steps, and if at any step the target gets to low health, use Expunge to kill them.

Lane Ganking

Lane ganking is similar to Bush Ganking in the fact that the rotation is similar. In this you might have to use Ghost at first, to get to the target fast enough, and use Exhaust right off of the bat. This is because they enemy has an easier job getting to their turret if they are in the middle of the lane. Just follow the steps said before, and you should do fine. You have to be careful not to do a bad gank on someone though. An example is, if you are ganking Teemo, use Ambush before you get to the area around his lane, so that you are not spotted by his mushrooms.

Team Fights

Twitch is a very useful champion in team fights, when he is not being focused. To avoid this, wait until the fight starts to come out of Ambush use Spray and Pray and mow down the enemies. When your ultimate runs out, use Expunge to clean them out. It is easy to get triple kills and up with this rotation. Make sure multiple enemies are in one area when using your ultimate, to get the biggest and best effect.
