Introduction
Also, it would be much appreciated if you were to try the build before you down vote my guide.
DISCLAIMER: Would like to state that this build is for a laning Udyr. I am aware that many of you prefer to have him jungle. Jungle Udyr has its pros and cons but we a discarding the benefits of jungle Udyr in order to lane with him. It may not be as bad as you think, with the right partner you may do very well despite the common beliefs.
The goal is to deal a lot of damage using tiger stance as your main source of damage and to stay alive, hence my choice of runes.
Greater Mark of Desolation: Self explainatory, the best marks for melee dmg. Hands down
Greater Seal of Evasion: Dodge works well with Udyrs Passive ability which gives him 9% additional dodge at 3 stacks. About 25% dodge with his massive hp will make him hard to kill.
Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction: CDR is also a mean for increasing Udyrs damage, however you may chose to set other glyphs if you wish.

For this build i chose 21/9/0 since the main focus is to be a DPS udyr. I have tried many different Mastery trees. I suppose you could go 22/0/8 but i do not want to sacrifice dodge for additional XP. I also had some success with a full defence build, but its a matter of preference really. You have to decide if you want to have higher damage and less defense or the other way around.
Recommended Summoner Spells
For this build i chose Summoner Spells that complimented my masteries. But you may chose others which suit your playstile.
Ghost: I always use Ghost on Udyr. An excellent choice at it works wonders for both escaping and chasing. Activate it with Bear Stance.
Exhaust: Good for chasing fast enemies. Ghost + Bear stance can only do so much. Gives a sweet Damage bonus as well.
Ignite: A good finisher which deals quite some magic damage, edit masteries if you use Ignite.
Cleanse: A Defensive spell which lets you escape from tough situations, if you use it with ghost and bear stance i doubt players will catch up to you. Remove Improved Exhaust for this spell.
Flash: You can use this instead of ghost and let Bear stance act as a substitute for Ghost. Has a long cooldown though.

The build is mainly focusing on using Atma's Impaler to accumulate attack damage from the massive health. At the end you will have 4-5k hp with lots of AD. There are many ways which you can go from now.
Offensive Items
Infinity Edge : This item is simply to increase the damage. Use against fairly balanced teams
Madred's Bloodrazor : What we are looking to get is the passive abillity of this item. Use this against teams with many champs with much health, Such as Cho'Gath.
Defensive Items
Banshee's Veil : Too many stunners on the enemy team can be devastating for Udyr, Use this to counter enemy CC.
Thornmail : The passive boost from this item is good against enemy teams that consist of mainly physical damage champions
Optional Boots
Mercury's Treads : These boots can be used in addition to Ninja Tabi. Use these if there arent many melee attackers or if there is a lot of CC.

In this build I choose to add a single point in every Abillity and then max out Wilding Claw. The reason why I do this is to have that burst dmg in the early game. Many people tend to underestimate Udyr in the lane, this will be to your advantage as you can easily drop someone from full to no health fast with the help of an allied CC
After maxing out Tiger, I level up Blazing Stampede along with Wingborne Storm. Phoenix stance will be used in your DPS rotation when it is high level enough. Phoenix Stance is great for farming and it will maximize your mid-game damage output. In my opinion these benefits are more valuable than what you would get from maxing out Bear Stance before putting any skillpoints in Phoenix Stance.
Iron Mantle is what I save for last as it is not very beneficial for this build. There are however some uses for this Skill.
Skill rotation
In this section I will go over various rotations for different occasions. You will learn how to play Udyr, when to attack, when to use your skills, etc.
In early game there is not much you can do but to dash in with Bear Stance and then Unload on them using Tiger Stance. But your mid-lategame rotation should be something like this:
For ganking and 1v1
If it is possible, you may try to get your Tiger Stance dot on them before you switch to bear and stun. After 2-3 seconds of Tiger Dmg switch to phoenix and instantly switch back to Tiger then just rinse and repeat. Use Bear Stance when they try to flee or channel a spell.
For Teamfights
Wait for your maintank to initiate and take the initial burst damage. Rush in and repeat the cycle, target the squishy champs. It is important that you save Bear Stance for interrupting enemy ultimates like Absolute Zero, Nether Grasp and Death Lotus.
Iron Mantle is situational. Use it in the laning phase to regain health, can also be used to block turret shots after a dive. Use the shield to block spells like Hemoplague, Requiem, Time Bomb and dots like Ignite and Children of the Grave.
A final tip is to use Blazing Stampede in lategame to travel at high speed. You can keep it up all the time and you wont lose much mana.
