Hi everyone! Im LippyDarren and I am a top lane main. I have stepped into the Jungle ever since the end of season 12 and into preseason 13, and I love to play THE FOCKIN BEAR!!! Volibear is such a fun champ to play. Utilise Volibear's strong early to mid game to your advantage, fight for scuttle crab and gank bot early at level 3. Prioritise ganking botlane and midlane, and have complete control over the bottom side of the Summoners Rift Map (yes it is ironic that I am ignoring top when Im a top lane main...). Ping your teammates to dive towers at Level 6, try to path your jungle such that you can dive bot once you hit level 6 for an easy free double kill. Snowball your ADC and your midlaner, and together with your tankiness and ample damage from Cosmic Drive, you can hard carry games thru Voli Jungle, which in itself is super fun and rewarding to play. Remember to always fight for Dragon and Baron. Herald is optional imo. Most importantly, Dont miss your smites!

Here's a quick explanation on my recommended Build Path:

Jungle Starting Pet: Mosstomper (Green Smite/pet). Very good in general, especially for early to mid game junglers like Volibear. Makes Voli tanky once you hit the 40 stacks on the pet, with increased tenacity and a shield -> it is everything Volibear needs. You can argue that getting the Blue Smite (Gustwalker) is better, but I still prefer the permanent shield and tenacity Volibear gains from Mosstomper.

First back -> Ionian Boots. Volibear benefits a lot from CDR. With Ionian Boots, Voli has around 20% CDR from this cheap 950 gold boots, which means he can cast his W and E more often, meaning that he can get more heals and shields off in the early game fights. Once he hits 6, you can dive botlane or midlane immediately without fear of having too high a cooldown on your R, because of the ability haste given by Ionian Boots. Ionian Boots is the go-to boots for the bear, as it makes Volibear tankier in general since he can cast his spells more often.

Now let's move on to Voli's mythic: ICEBORN GAUNTLET!!! This is a very OP item on Volibear. Rush this item immediately after Ionian Boots for a super huge spike on Voli, and his ganks are even more insane now since every ability casted by Voli would SLOW the enemy champions. Press Q, you slow. Press W, you slow. Press E, you slow. Press R, you slow. NO ONE CAN GET AWAY FROM THE BEAR!!! The sheen procs from this item on Volibear is very valuable in both clearing jungle camps and also destroying your enemy team. With Iceborn Gauntlet, you are generally tanky enough to duel against 2 AD champions at once. The main thing about this item is really to slow your enemy lanes, reduce their AD, and get your laners ahead in the fights.

Moving on to the next item: COSMIC DRIVE! Hear me out. Cosmic Drive gives 30 ABILITY HASTE (something Voli really enjoys), 65 AP, 5% Movement Speed and 200 HP. All these stats are incredibly useful to Voli, and you have to read the passive of this item -> It grants Volibear increased AP and MOVESPEED during fights against champions. It is a really secret OP item on Volibear. With AP, Volibear's atk speed increases as well, and his jungle clear speed is hence increased immensely overall. BUILD THIS AFTER ICEBORN, IT IS A HYPER CARRY ITEM!

After Cosmic Drive, you can opt for either of the two legendaries: Frozen Heart or Force of Nature. Frozen Heart has been the most OP armor item ever since Season 11, and Force of Nature has been the most OP magic resist item ever since Season 11. So yea. You do the math, you HAFTA build these 2 items after finish Cosmic Drive. If enemy team has multiple AD champs, go Frozen Heart first. If enemy team has multiple AP champs, go FON first.

With that, you have completed THE BLUE VOLI BUILD !!!
IONIAN BOOTS -> ICEBORN -> COSMIC -> FROZEN -> FON
IT IS OP. BUILD ALL THESE IN YOUR GAMES FOR FREE LP !!!

Last item is situational. Does enemy team have many tanks? Then go Black Cleaver.
Does enemy team have many AP champs? Then go Spirit Visage.
Does enemy team have many AD/Crit champs? Then go Randuins.
Does enemy team have a lot of healing? Then go Thornmail.
Does enemy team have huge burst damage? Then go Gargoyle Stoneplate/Steraks Gage.
Whichever scenario, you choose the suitable item to counter it and tank as much as you can for your team.

Finally, to close off the game, there is no better move to end your enemy team's nexus other than THE BEAR SPECIAL!!! Press R in between the twin nexus turrets of your enemy team, BOOM!!! Destroy them all with THE BEAR!!!

Of course, we all have different builds and playstyles, and I urge you to try out my AP Tank Voli build in the jungle, which has given me great success over the course of my past jungle games in the preseason and going into Season 13.

With the upcoming changes to Cosmic Drive, Voli Jg wont require that item anymore. We will move on to the FULL TANK VOLI JUNGLE CARRY BUILD!!! The core tank items are:

1. Iceborn Gauntlet
2. Force of Nature
3. Frozen Heart

After you have accumulated 10k gold and built these 3 items, you are good to go any other situational tank items to be a true utility tank for your team. Your main role late game is just be an annoying tower disabling tank and a stun bot (5s cooldown on Q with Ionian boots, Iceborn, Frozen Heart, Kindlegem) which is very good for your carries.
