Introduction

Hi guys! I'm not a big time ranked player (yet) but I recently started playing ranked and have been climbing (might reach gold by november or so). I have roughly 200k mastery points on yasuo, and play him often so I thought I might share some tips and tricks of him that alot of people don't know when they try to "pro yasuo main" and **** up the game :).

Summoner Spells

Flash - you need it. outplays, escapes, gapcloser, finish off someone. just necessary.

Teleport - highly reccomended. a good team will have some nice deep wards for you to tp to after shoving lane to gank and get towers. Also helps with getting back to lane after recalling after bad trades.

Very aggressive summ, only reccomended against specific healing tanks like volibear or mundo. take in very easy matchup but ignite is very aggressive regardless, whereas teleport can at give you a global presence as well as an even stronger lane presence if you're stomping on your enemies like you should be.

Skill Sequence

Many guides will tell you to max q first. This is wrong for many reasons because mainly, it only gets you base damages, not cooldowns. Maxing E however, will get you lower cooldown between e's, and a lower cooldown for when you can use e again on an enemy, AND higher base damages. after this, maxing q is necessary for stronger midgame spikes, and windwall final max for the wider wall in teamfights (ALL ASSUMING YOU MAX R AS YOU CAN).

Spells

Q. This is bread and butter, minion aggro, knockup, insane damage, yasuo's famous ability. this ability allows for aa-q-aa on a low cd, for rapid high damage trades favoring yasuo. however, q'ing directly onto a champion without q'ing a minion in between the champ and yourself causes minion aggro, which hurts in the early game. if you decided to go in, or even eq an enemy, walk into bushes to draw off aggro asap. also, be sure to save tornado unless you have a reason to use it besides poke: it's a great zoning tool.

Windwall - this is what makes yasuo a strong potential midlaner, but not as strong as top. in the top lane, this allows for many features beyond projectile absorption. In many instances, it is a great tool for escape to get vision on another side of a wall (eg to get vision of gromp to e over wall).

Sweeping Blade - This mobility can make or break a yasuo. this ability stacks passive shield hard, can throw you into turrets, dodge entire team's worth of kits, and hop walls. sadly, wallhops are limited to champions, minions (when placed correctly), gromps, krugs, and raptors. wallhopping off of a champion will take practice,as will the rest, but E is a useful skill to learn to abuse. more than the power to engage, the ability to disengage on command is powerful to escape cooldowns of cooldown reliant champions.

Last Breath - This ultimate can do a total of 500-600 damage to an entire team, along with a q to the entire team afterwards. this is a BUSTED ult. it starts on an 80 sec cooldown, blinks to target cursor (so you can dance outside of a tower while still ulting someone) and automatically stacks your shield for you. make sure to try to use this in a duel early on, but save this ultimate for teamfights when you can anticipate one coming. Also, alot of beginner yasuo's q straight after using R. However, maximizing damage in a 1v1 comes from doing an aa-q-aa right after an R. an autoattack can't be dodged, flashed, etc, and an aa-q-aa does triple the damage in about the same amount of time. many adc's will get oneshotted with tornado-r-aa-q-aa

Creeping / Jungling

farming is very easy on yasuo, don't q too often, watch the stack decay before doing again bc otherwise you'll push too hard (Extreme problem for beginner yasuo's that q the entire wave). just q for last hit, and don't tornado through minions unless it's for a kill or is just necessary. you should almost always outfarm your opponent, and should have strong control of the wave.

Team Work

watch for anyone on your team with knockups. there aren't many but, Aatrox, Alistar, Blitzcrank, Braum, Chogath, Fizz, Galio, Ivern, Janna, J4, Kalista, Kayn, Lee Sin, Lulu, Malphite (this guy is your friend), Nami, Nautilus, Poppy, Rakan, Reksai, Riven, Sejuani, Sion, Taliyah, Vi, Wukong, Xin Zhao, Yasuo (OP in 1 for all), Zac, Zyra. don't just burn R cd right away, watch for a good time to catch priority targets out. and cc them. good yasuo R's can singlehandedly initiate a fight leading to an ace. Be very way of cc coming at you if you dive early on, have tornado ready to R off of as necessary but make sure to get a followup.
